Looking for A&PII Online Classes
I am in NY and Cayuga community college offers online a&P 1 and 2 with labs online. i haven't taken them myself (i took other classes) but my other classmates have and they thought it was great. The teachers were very helpful and prompt in answering questions. I'm in NYC and this school is upstate and hours away so it's not in my neighborhood but I loved my courses. (Took ethics and statistics) Out of state cost is double the tuition so about 1400 for ap2 (which includes the fees) You can do it this summer in about a month. Transcripts are free. HTH! http://www.cayuga-cc.edu/academics/schedule-summer.php#filter_form

Rutgers RN-BSN
Thank you for your info.. quick question.. were you able to take organic biochemistry and pathophysiology with your upper level nursing classes or did you have to complete them before? Did you take and graduate subsitutes and if so how were they? is the entire program online or do you have to go in at any point? I have most of the pre-reqs except for those 2 and plan to do full time.

Rutgers RN-BSN
Does anyone know how long the RN-bsn program is for Newark? (couldn't find it anywhere on the site) Also, are they generous with financial aid? I am a NY resident and was just accepted. I applied to a few and this was my top choice but I'm trying to weigh pros/cons so this is one of my concerns...

Would *extra* certifications be beneficial?
Thank you all for your responses. I have taken EKG in class so I am familiar with some of the basic concepts.

Would *extra* certifications be beneficial?
I will graduate from nursing school this May and the associated hospital offers EKG, ACLS, and PALS certification at a discount. (about $75-100 less) Should I pay to have these certifications under my belt and on my resume? Would they help when looking for a RN job as a new grad? Or, should I wait until I land my first job as most places will pay for these certifications? Also for those who obtained them beforehand, were they helpful?

This book is different from the med surg book they req'd us to purchase last year. I don't think it makes much of a difference as people used older versions of our book but you can always double check with the professor.

You don't need any of the PDA apps. You will never use it. If you need to look something up, google it. Trust me, our professors do that exact same thing in class. Professors don't mind if you bring your laptop/macbook.

Hello, so as far as the book list you need 1 2 3 and 8 the others are not needed right now. Make sure you keep up on the math calculations after you take it online because they will throw math questions on other tests.

That 3 times a week schedule is for summer classes only. It will be on Fri 9-12 in the fall. Once you pass 1st year, you have the option of summer or fall pharm class.

The math for meds is at your own pace. No discussion board postings. There is a midterm and a Final. Thats it.

I don't know anyone in ATOP but according to registration, the 1st semester you have lecture Thurs from 3-8, and on Sat - clinical from 8-12 and lab from 1-4. NO friday. 2nd semester - Lecture Thurs 3-8, Lab on Fri from 8-12:30 Clinical Sat from 8-3. Summer. Lecture is the same. Clinical - Sat from 8-3. No Fri 2nd year both semesters. Lecture... same. Fri clinical from 8-3 or 3-8 and all day Sat. Hope that helps.

I took them all at my local cc. I didn't want to have any other courses besides nursing. It was much cheaper as well. My advice.. take all the science courses before you attend. My classmates have a hard time with taking AP I and II and Micro at the same time as the nursing classes due to the timing of exams and the professor testing on VERY minute (and unrealistic) details. Also, take nutrition as well just because the professor gives sort of ridiculous assignments.

Yes. You will never go beyond 1700 in the Trad program. You will only have night clinical during pathway to practice during your last semester if that is what you choose (or end up with). 1st year: Clinical is one day a week from 8-12. ( Second half of second semester is 2 days a week). Labs are 9-12 one day a week and lectures are from 1:30-3:30 -4. one day a week. My Schedule was as follows: Clinicals Monday 8-12. Lab Tues 9-12 and Lecture Tues and Wed 1:30-3:30 -4. Summer is Psych and its from the Last week in April until June 12. That is Either Mon-Wed or Tues-Thurs depending on which clinical site you choose. Clinical are 2 days a week and so are lectures. Same time. Second year: Clinical for 2 days 8-4 and lecture 2 days from 9-12.

Hey Ladies To answer some of your questions..... If you have an interview, you are most likely getting in. It is a very casual conversation about your essay, goals and how to make the program work for you. You would have to royally screw up the interview for you to be rejected. I interviewed last year on March 29 and received my acceptance by email on April 3. You wait time all depends on when you interview and when the committee meets. I called Ms. Gallo they day after my interviewer told me the committee was meeting because I was freaking out and nervous like all of you and she told me over the phone I got in and then sent the email. Last year, interviews went well into May and June I believe.
