  1. I would like to comment but please don't take offense. The other reason health care facility or hospital might want smoke free is for the patient. I have allergies and if someone was very close to me giving care and smelled strongly of smoke I would have a hard time breathing and could possible be set off either into a migraine or needing my epi pen.
  2. I have my Assoc in Business from Penn Foster and my CC will not accept any of my credits. Say they are not properly accredited. Wish I knew that when I was wasting my time. Now I have to retake multiple classes like ENG, PSY and SOC
  3. http://www.anatomyandphysiology.com/ Shows multiple book options if you click on the cover of your book it will bring you to a linked website. I found the one for the 10th edition of my book. There were flashcards available and looks like I can get a access code from the website sent to my phone to see them on my mobile directly from the book
  4. http://wps.aw.com/bc_marieb_ehap_9/79/20307/5198647.cw/index.html This website is from the book my school uses. Includes quizzes, activities, flash cards for each chapter. It is based on the 9th edition of the book and my school is using the 10th but the body is the body.
  5. what are the best scrubs for plus size. I need a larger waist band but don't want baggy clown pants. What is best cut of top for large chest. Scrubs and fluffy don't seem to agree. But until I am less fluffy I need to figure it out
  6. wow what an eye opener. I didn't know that people did credit checks for employment. Maybe that makes sense in a bank where I am handling money and might be tempted to steal if broke. But in nursing. Give me a drug test, that I understand. I am going to be handling meds. but a credit check
  7. Schedule??? If I complete all my pre-req classes do you know what the actual nursing program schedule is like. I am trying to be ready so that if I get accepted I am able to attend. I have 3 school aged children and I am not sure if I will need to arrange help to get them to school. My pre-req schedule is very flexible. Any info is helpful. Thanks
  8. Thanks all for the info. I am trying to connect with a couple people on the boards that attended Holyoke Community college but they haven't responded yet. Part of the issue is I am an overprotective parent. If I get into nursing school next year my oldest daughter will be starting middle school and it's a mile and a half walk from our home. I am sure many other parent would just have their kid walk to and from school and give them a cell phone and a key. I really don't want to do that. Especially having her siblings picked up and dropped off. Don't want her to feel abandoned. So I need a relative who is willing to do 2 drop offs and pick ups. Maybe by the time she is in 7th or 8th grade and walking with other neighborhood kids it wouldn't bother me as much. But when she starts 6th it will be another year before kids on our block start at the same school.
  9. I have begun speaking to family members about needing help possibly next year and also looking into ymca programs. I am trying to just take things a day at a time. If not I will get overwhelmed. My children will be at 2 different school after this year so I didn't pick the easiest time to go back to school. But it was not possible until my twins went to kindergarten. Right now I am just concentrating on the year ahead of me. Not loving the idea that I might be jammed up at school from 6am to 3pm. Is that every day??? Doesn't seem possible with only like 11 credits. By the time I get into program I will be done with all my pre-reqs and only have nursing classes.
  10. As pre-nursing student I wonder if I will be able to get my kids to school. I looked ahead to see what kind of schedule the program has and it looks like the clinicals start at 7am and a lot of the classes start at 8am. Hoping I am reading it wrong or missing something. My pre-reqs are very flexible with morning, afternoon, evening, weekend and online classes. Guess we have to wait and see. LOL I don't even know if I will get into the program so I guess it doesn't really matter. But makes you wonder. For now and this year I can manage
  11. Passed my math placement test :yeah::yeah:. So I got to drop math 095 and pick up nutrition. Tell me it is possible to take all these at once and do well if I apply myself. PSY 110, NTR 101, BIO 103 and ENG 101. All classes are online and bio is brick and click. Can it be done???
  12. I have a full time job working 3 overnights and 10 flexible daytime hours. I also have a 10 year old and 7 year old twins. I am trying to do 4 classes this semester because they are online and easier classes. Hoping if I do that when I have A&P I can only take that class and possibly one other. Would like all the General Ed classes done before I enter nursing program so I don't have too much of a workload in program. Even without general ed it looks like 9-11 credits per semester of nursing.
  13. Pre-nursing here but my school calls it Foundations of Health in MA. I am starting in Fall Bio 103, ENG 101, PSY 110 and Math 095 unless I can pass math test. If I do I will try to pick up either Soc 110 or NTR 101
  14. can't private message yet. I guess I am too new. I am going next week to try to retake my math placement test. I did excellent on the English and Arith. but only got a 58 on the Algebra. But not too bad, I haven't had those classes in 20 years. I have been studying hard and hope to do well. Then I can drop Math 095 and take a pre-nursing class. Between the advisor and a student I know at the school the info is scary. My friend had all the pre-req's done with great grades. She did not attend the information session. She said it didn't used to be required ??? But I guess she was told they threw her application out after they saw she didn't go to meeting and she has to wait another year to apply.
  15. I would love to hear about your story also. I am desperate to find a story about someone who didn't have all the pre-req's done and still got into nursing. I am looking to change careers as soon as possible. Also not sure what classes you would take to defer paying loans when you are done with all pre-req's and still not accepted.
