  1. Thanks for the info. I have to do a drug screen but they did not and have not said anything about nicotene/cotinene and my current employer was forth coming with this info as well as other prospective companies I have looked at. I guess I figure if they tested for it I would be notified seeing as it is a legal substance. Or at least one would think.
  2. Hi, Does anyone know if Aetna does a nicotene test for employment?
  3. Smoked for 6 years...never quit. This is the longest ever. Been wanting to quit since I graduated just never really had a good reason because I enjoyed it so much. I have been extremely irritable and slightly nauseous but want to quit just because I know the long term effects. I feel like if I can do it for three days I'm good!! My hubby smokes, and that has been the hardest part for me, but I feel like the worst it over.
  4. Yes, I've definately thought about it. But, I'm afraid they may recognize my voice or hear that I'm a female and see that there's a female with a pre-employment test coming up. I don't want to give them any reason to speculate the fact that I may have smoked. I graduated 2nd in my class and KNOW I'm the best candidate for the position and refuse to let anything come between me getting the job...even if I have to give up the unconditional love I have for my cigarettes.
  5. THANK YOU onedayitllbeme and nursekellyh. As I said before I don't know how far below 200 I am but I do know that my levels are under that value. So i presume if I keep up the good work, I'll be okay!
  6. Any type of product with nicotene including patches yields a positive result. And so they do not take that into consideration. Which is terrible for people who actually do want to quit but who are struggling with withdrawl. It is easy for a nonsmoker to say well "why don't you just quit". Just as easy as I could tell an obese person well "why don't you lose weight". HOwever, the fact of the matter, is that if it were truly that easy, alot more people would be sucessful at doing so!
  7. My personal choice to quit is not pertinent to the question. What is pertinent is the fact that I have not smoked in 3 days!
  8. Ok, my question was about cotinine levels in urine, not why hospitals are enforcing new policy concerning the use of nicotene. Can no one help and tell me the level they test for in the urine??
  9. I know its very frustrating. The region in where I live, not the entire state, requires applications to be contingent upon passing a nicotene/cotinine (an active metabolite of nicotene) test. I have the job and I really don't want this test to get in the way of me losing it! I've been totally stressed and irritable without my cigs!!! lol
  10. Well, I have read how people in similar situations passed within 72 hrs who were ppd smokers with a gallon of water daily of course. I guess my main question is what is the actual cut off level for a negative result with a URINE SCREEN?? Anyone know...I've been looking online and can't find anything concrete.
  11. So,I have a question regarding pre-employment URINE nicotene test/cotinine test. I have been free and clear of cigarettes for 3 days and have to test in 5 days. I have been drinking approx a gallon of water daily and totally stayed free and clear of any type of second hand smoke. I bought an online urine cotinine test where I tested negative. However, the level I test could only tell me that my urine concentration was below 200 ng/ml. After doing some research online, I feel like the standard for a negative test result is less than that off 200 ng/ml. Does anyone know the standard they test in urine. Also, do you think if my levels are already below 200, that I'd be able to pass the test in 5 days? Please no cruel posts or judgements...I just want facts!
