I have a friend that got kicked out of her program for academic reasons after not doing well in one class but otherwise having all A's. She ended up getting accepted into another school and they even let her transfer in some credits. What type of course is one hour if you don't mind me asking?

Was wondering how did your interview process go? What type of questions did they ask? I'm want to apply to their program in a couple years.

From what I have read so far, everyone says to turn it into a positive, how much you have grown, how motivated you are, what you have done to prove yourself. Honesty is the best answer. If you don't mind me asking, were any of the additional science courses you took online? I am looking to take science courses to boast my science GPA as well and am having a hard time finding ones online. Even just a statistics course online. The school I want to apply to requires an updated one within 5 years and I'm past that.

I am a new grad starting on nights here soon! I have gained lots of tips from all the comments! I like the idea of sleeping 2am-10am or 3-11am on your days off!

I am going to try that schedule out! sometimes I think should I just try to switch completely to sleeping in the day while my hubs is at work? but then i'm like what would I possibly do with myself ALL night and while he is sleeping?! subee what type of window shades do you recommend? Right now in my bedroom I have those bigger heavy duty blinds but sun does peer through them and shines in my face every morning. When I first start orientating I am on days but I'm really nervous about the switch to nights. Part of me wants to practice staying up all night haha so that when on my first day of orientation I have an idea of what its like and am not in zombie mode. When I shadowed this position I literally was sleepy around midnight and yawning non-stop until 1am when I left and went home to my bed.

Congrats on passing!!! Good luck as you begin your career!!! :yelclap: Like you, I WAS a good test-taker throughout school. But unfortunately I didn't take my NCLEX until 1 1/2 yrs after finishing nursing school b/c I was a transfer student and had to finish up gen ed courses first before everything could be done for me to get my ATT. Long story short, all my fellow nursing friends from college told me they knew without a doubt I could pass because I was smart in school, so I studied minimally, and bombed it! I didn't even fully review every topic (WHAT was I thinking?!?!?). Took all 256 questions and was told I toggled up and down the passing line and was NEAR passing. On my performance report (they only send it to you if you fail) I only was BELOW LEVEL OF PASSING on the category of INFECTION CONTROL. I was SO CLOSE. I didn't fully prepare for the exam so I don't know what I was expecting. DEFINITELY learned my lesson! I think a big part of a high pass rate on first try is taking the exam as close out of school as possible! Everything is still very fresh in your mind and your still in "school/study/test mode". Be very grateful you did not have to spend hours upon hours day after day reviewing everything over a year out of school!!! That you were able to study with a 'whatevs' & 'itsnobigdeal' kind of attitude! I can say that I finally learned how to properly study for an exam while studying for the NCLEX the 2nd time through....only took me until AFTER college of course!

I must update and say that I did not list my perceptorship and it was not necessary on my resume. I did however, when asked if I had experience outside of clinicals list internships I did on a surgical & ob unit and listed my perceptorship/leadership experience there.

Your Welcome!! I hope it could help some people out! I just accepted my first nursing job!! Getting the interview opportunity is the hardest part I think. Once you get that chance to interview you have got to go in there and do awesome so it's better to prepare like you would for a test or something similar! This is true at least in my area because I applied for several jobs but was only called back for two interviews at two separate hospitals. Fortunately was offered a position at both places! :) If you don't get offered a job after an interview just think of it as practice!! You know next time what do do and not to do the next round. I can say I didn't read through ALL the questions in the links but it was good to think about how you would respond to at least a good amount.

Hi everyone! I just landed my first job as an RN after job searching since the end of February! :cheers: I am going to be working nights (7pm-7:30am). I have never worked nights before and although throughout college I considered myself a night owl since graduating I have re-synced my body to going to bed roughly around 11pm-12 and waking up around 7-8 am. I have no idea how to do this new schedule. I wanted to know how people have managed this transition into a night shift position? When do you sleep? Before your first day on, inbetween days, and the last day working after a cluster of days? Also, how do you sleep on your days off? do you go back to trying to sleep nights instead? I am married and my husband gets home around 5-6pm...I'd like to not always be sleeping when he's home so that we can spend time together. Thanks for any input!!!

oh wow this makes me worry some. I just bought a Wonder Winks 4-stretch top & bottom. I haven't worn them yet so they still have the tags on. I wonder what the label says how to launder them? What kind of Wonder Winks were yours?

I also shadowed on a Critical Step Down unit. I think they mostly want to know if you are going to work well with the other nurses and if you feel after your shadow if this is the unit for you. Just be yourself, ask good questions, and try to get good insight into what working on that unit would be like. I re-stated some things my nurse did like oh yeah just had to study all this for the Nclex. You would be surprised how much is fresh in your mind after just taking your boards. I also asked my nurse how he felt the unit would fit with a new grad. Afterwards I e-mailed them about my experience and how I still thought I would be a good fit. In the end I got the job!! :)
