  1. thanks emurphee....I appreciate the message. Any specific tips relating to cardiac that you've learned so far? thanks
  2. oh i get it..thanks a lot :)
  3. What is PCCN test? ??
  4. This question is for "do-over" What different monitors are the patients on? :) Thanks
  5. hello all...not really familar with cardiac/tele floor ...i hear people say "drips" are important.. so ya'll talking about IV cardiac meds right? whats a good resource to familarize youself with that.
  6. awesome i'll keep it in mind...well i was thinking family nurse practitioner as a future career ........so with taht said i'm thinking cardiac is the best choice to prepare for that?
  7. good advice! I'm a new nurse... but what do you mean by know your "drips" please give a resource or something thanks
  8. someone mentioned about the night differential how much is it?? also...is it diferent for the new nurses? thanx
  9. Hello I'm sorry you're feeling this way! I just got out of nursing school too (RN), but my theory is WRITE IT DOWN.. think about it...if people are whispering LET THEM WHISPER...EVERYONE is in your shoes once in their life right? It would be so much better to write it down...absorb it and remember it as opposed to forgetting again and again for the same thing...right? So don't be ashamed...your goal is to take care of those patients and if u have to write notes about what u learned..thats what u have to do... keep motivated...you can do it..maybe go home and study some diseases that were seen that day! anyway even though im' new i hope this made u feel better.. take care and god bless :)
  10. Hello All, First of all I thank everyone for replying to me on this website. I feel this is a great resource to get support from fellow nurses! Well I have a new situation at hand. I am a new grad...(finished in may), and I am sitting today with TWO job offers...I know....:yeah: I feel very blessed. The two different units are Neuro/telemetry...which is a step down from ICU unit..and the other unit is CARDIAC/telemetry. BOTH positions are at night. I will be preceptoring with a preceptor for 8 weeks for which ever unit I chose. I am willing to learn and need advice on which to pick. As in what are the pros and cons? ????? I do not have experience and since they are both at night (esp neuro..) it makes me a bit more nervous..obviously bc there is less staf.. Anyway..any awesome neuro/tele nurses out there to give me their wise words????? Thanks :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat
  11. any tips for a new grad going into cardiac /tele????
  12. question to everyone here: so...for a new grad which job would be a good transition out of nursing school? 1. cardiac telemtry unit 2. Ortho unit 3. neur /tele step down unit any input is appreciated !! I am willing to learn...although don't want to take too much of a load...just b/c im nervous !
  13. wow neuro ICU as a new grad? holy crap...that seems pretty intense? how long is the training?
  14. i know neurosurgery is challenging..but what about doing it right out of school?
  15. I am happy for you MiVida Loca...that sounds really exciting!! I wanted to ask you...I just graduated in May..and im sorta sad..because these RN new grad programs/residencieis aren't going to start again until January!!!! What do i do?
  16. hellooo all So ...i know its important to make a first impression. SO i have a interview coming up, and would like to know...HOW do i make a good first impressoin???? answering the questions well is obviously important? but can i do something eXTRA? to make myself stick out from other new grads???????? i know i can't like buy a present but WHAT can i do...even if its something little? to make a good first impression??????:confused: let me know ...even funny dorky ideas will work for me ! thanks in advance
  17. oh man sorry to hear this...i just finished school.. and this is what im trying to avoid..its great to get paid..but i want a calm job...im not going to apply in trauma especially because i'd imagine that this is fast paced. I think maybe you have a different persepctive of nursing because of this rough experience. Maybe try to get a med surg position night shift? it may be still busy but i don't think it will be as crazy...and definetly get of of trauma floor...that would be the first thing i'd do if i were you. also...if ur not finding a job...try to get a job in a clinic...it is much slower. :) hope this brightens up your mood. God bless
  18. yea the process is weird... half the time..the nursing recruiters who arent even nurses...are in charge of the entire thing...so half the time when ur applying...the managers wont even get to see it lol
  19. oh wow that sounds tough! what is the night and weekend differential per hour if u dont mind me asking?
  20. Wow that last paragraph was inspiring AngelicDarkness. I feel nervous because u kno nursing is complex..nothing is the same..ESPECIALLY when ur a new grad...you don't even have a concerete set of skills yet ! but...did you have training from a preceptor or was it like a official residency program? thanks
  21. ok now i have a interesting situation... I have a interview next week on Wednesday, and then one on Friday.... I want to meet both managers..and see both hosiptals...before saying yes to a job...BUT what if the manager on Wednesday asks me right then and there..do you want to accept? What the heck do i do
  22. SO its my first job....i'm a new grad... do ya'll have any experiences you would like to share from your first job???? how was the training????? thanks..in advance :) :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:nurse:
  23. Hmmm well its good at least ur getting ur BSN..so ur not totally not doing anything...:) well...i definetly say get some kind of experience under your belt.. (i'm a new grad) and ive been told by many to get some sort of experience... but since ur getting ur BSN..employers won't be as hard on you..because ur were in school....but since u need help paying rent...you should also consider..student loans..that will help with rent and food etc in the fall.... so it wouldn't relaly hurt to wait till december to get a good job BUT...if you are getting one..then yea..i'd go for it ...
  24. Good luck... Yea I didn't even realize how nervous I was a couple of days before the test until 2 nights before I was up at 230 am eating corn nuts and watching E. Yea...i didn't realize how stressed my body actually was ! But i took sleeping pill that night..and the night before i was like trust your self ..trust yourself.. just write down 10 times or maybe more...i will pass the NCLEX i will pass the NCLEX.. trust me it helped me...
  25. Congrats MN-NURSE! The job that I am getting will have a preceptor helping me out for a period of time. It's not really a official residency program...so that is also making me nervous to accept..you know? Or should I not be nervous.and just think...oh the preceptor will help me throughout it all? ???
