  1. Being a nurse you have many responsibilities..so if you "don't like all of the responsiblity" then maybe nursing is not for you. As a new grad or even a new employee, you can not be picky as to what shift you work or even which days you are scheduled to work. Just be greatful that you have a nursing job. I'm sure many people out there are dying to land their first job. You can ask around, many nurses work odd hours and most of the time you end up working every other weekend or maybe every third weekend and probably every other holiday. You might be better off trying to find a job in the clinics, but I think many clinics now probably hire CMA. Work your factory job if that's going to make you happy but you better come up with a good explanation when you go in for a nurse position interview as to why you quit LTC to work at a factory. Good luck with whatever you choose. Remember your first nursing job may not always be the best, but somehow everyone needs to start out somewhere.
  2. Everyone has life circumstances when they can't work certain days. I would let employers know up front what days you are not available to work and if they really want you they will work around your schedule:)
  3. I just finished my LPN in May and I will be doing my LPN-RN mobility route as soon as I get accepted to one of the local schools here. I know their next round of application is not until winter but for the time being I will be working as a LPN in a hospital. I will be making some money and gaining some excellent experience. CNA is just a 4 credit class but I reccomend going to do the LPN as you could be waiting for awhile until you can get into an RN program as those are very competitive but if you can get in to a RN program right away then do that:) After LPN to get your ADN is only another year, 20 credits at most of the schools that i'm looking at.
  4. I know at the hospital that I work at they count how many hours of work you put in not how many years. That's what they use to figure out seniority levels also. Hopes this help.
  5. I didn't have a hard time looking for a job. I got hired as an LPN 2 weeks after passing my boards. The hospital that I will be working at is hiring LPNs and there are many job postings right now. I also worked as a CNA the whole time I was attending nursing school.
  6. I'm a new grad LPN (graduated in May, passed boards in June), I just got hired at a hospital so I'm guessing it depends on where you work at regarding the "LPNs being phased out." There are actually many job listings for LPNs at the hospital that I'm working at. A couple things that I should note is that the hospital is Magnet status and is non-union.
  7. $17/hr CNA. Just passed my boards recently so I am currently searching for a LPN position:nurse:
  8. Yes, there were lots of SATA. Just be prepared. I had 85 questions on my NCLEX PN and I lost count after 10 SATA. I remember getting three in a row of SATA towards the end of the test. Found out I passed this morning, so glad to get that one over with.
  9. Yes, I'm convinced now that it works. I took mine Friday AM @ 0800. Tried the trick later that day around 1100ish and I got the "good pop up." Checked my board of nursing this morning and yippy, I PASSED!
  10. Hey all, just wanted to let you know that I passed. Yeah baby! I checked my BON this morning and sure enough I passed. PVT was right. Gosh, I wouldn't know what to do without this trick...it really helped me ease my mind this past weekend. I waited to find out Monday morning because it was free and I didn't want to pay the $7.95 to PV because $200 was enough that I had to dish out to them. Anyways, good luck to those that are taking the NCLEX or will be taking it in the future. TRY PVT, it works :)
  11. I took my NCLEX PN this past Friday June 10. The computer shut down on me at 85 questions. I'm not sure how I did yet but I will probably find out on Monday or so. I did the PVT and got a "good pop up." Yes the test was a tough one. Study hard!
  12. Hi all, New member here, but i've been reading this forums off and on since I started nursing school. On Friday June 10, I took my NCLEX PN. The computer shut off at 85 questions. I got out of the testing center at around 0945. I walked out feeling dumber than dumb. Was stressed so I went and did some retail therapy. I did the PVT when I got home and I got the "good pop up." I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm thrilled but there's also that "what ifs.." hoping to see my results soon.
