Just passed my NCLEX-PN, looking for my first job! HELP!
Thank you so much on the congratulations! I am actually in the process of job searching, I have had 2 interviews so far. One was with a dialysis clinic, and I believe they wanted more experienced LVNs and the other was a nursing home that made me very uneasy! I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions with the search or places to search. I love new ideas! There's a job out there for me... I just have to find it!

Just passed my NCLEX-PN, looking for my first job! HELP!
Thanks for your .02 cents and encouraging words. (I hope you realise I am being sarcastic.) I am not stressing, I am excited and doing a job search. The job market is difficult here... for anybody... in the entire US. So I know it may be a little bit before I am actually hired, but that doesn't mean I can't begin to apply now.

Graduation in 3 weeks!!! HELP!
I appreciate that! As of now I am a nurse's aid/ unit clerk on a fast paced Med Surg floor. I have worked there for over 2 years and float to other units including oncology, postop and ortho. I have had many nurses at work teach me quite a lot. I also sit in on the interview process for new hires, nurses and techs. I have seen many nurses come through that aren't the sharpest crayon in the box, have absolutely no experience, and have only learned what their text book taught them! I don't want to be that nurse! haha I would love to work on the unit I currently am at, but they are trying to get to magnet status, so no new LVNs will be hired.. ever! I would love a job on a med-surg or cardiac unit!

New LVN wondering about employers working with my school schedule!
I graduate from LVN school in Houston in 3 weeks, and am already enrolled for classes 2 days a week starting in the fall to continue my prerequisites for a BSN. Is this going to be a problem when finding a job? I'm wondering will it be a burden to a new employer, or will it show that I am driven, goal oriented, and planning to strive for higher education. In turn showing that I could be a long term investment, because in a few years I will be an RN? I need opinions!

New LVN graduatiing in August.. Have questions!
Hi! I will be graduating from LVN school August 12th. I have already registered for classes starting August 29th that are the rest of my pre requisites for a generic BSN program. My question is where are there jobs for new grad LVNs in Houston or Beaumont and the surrounding area? Whats the pay like? Another question I have is since I am already planning to continue my education, will that look good to future employers, or will it be more of a nuisance to them making them not want to hire me because I will be in school Tuesdays and Thursdays?! Any info would help me greatly! Thanks!

Soon to be LVN, interested in dialysis
Wow! 12.80? Here, our regular nurse's aids with no certification make right around that! I know aids that make around 15/ hr. Anyway, thank you for replying. I just love new information! So, do you enjoy dialysis? I work with mostly stroke/cardiac/geriatric patients, and I enjoy that. Once I get my LVN, I would like to experience something new. Everytime I mention dialysis to the nurses i work with, I get told 2 things. Either they think it's a great idea and I would love it, or they think it is depressing!

what do you need to really get into UT Houston BSN program?
Hi! I just visited the UTHSC in Houston today for the very first time! My friend and I absolutely loved it. I am 22, have been a Nurse's Aide for 2 years, am currently in an LVN program which I will graduated from in August, and have a few more pre-reqs to take care of before I apply to the BSN program. I was just wondering how difficult the application process is? I see that there is no interview, does anyone know if they are going to carry on with that new guideline? Also, as far as gaining experience, I suggest finding a part time job as a Nurse's Aid at a hopsital. You will be exposed to all types of situations, and if you have great nurse's to work with like I do, they will teach you things along the way. It also helps in school, because you know the basics of patient care which is ultimately the most important part of nursing. If you can't care for another human being, and show compassion and intelligence while doing it, then another career path would be appropriate. But, if you realise you can handle all the situations random patients throw your way, then the clinical side of nursing school is a breeze!

New LVN grad to-be, wondering about jobs and salary

New LVN grad to-be, wondering about jobs and salary
Well, I don't actually live in Houston, I live in a very small town between houston and beaumont. I will work in either. I am hoping that I will definitely make more than 11 an hour no matter where I work, as of right now as a nurse's aid my salary is around 10/hr. So my salary as an LVN will assumingly be higher. I hope.
