  1. So what happens when you quit and they don't offer you the job.. or they offer and you don't have it in writing and they change their mind or you don't pass a test ... I wouldn't want to burn a bridge in the medical field because those in the same area talk.
  2. First never post or take a picture that you would not want the entire world to see. All it takes is one of your friends to share or copy your picture. A picture of you on the pole is not very professional even if it is a fun thing (which it is very fun) but future and even current employers will use it against you!
  3. Your charge is FOS. I like the idea of printing the state law and leaving copies in several places. I would also record her telling you that she is going to report you for abandonment. .. because it is not abandonment. Then take that to HR and let them know you are filing harassment charges for her threatening you.
  4. I believe my favorite comment from a patient or family member is.... "I have been here in the ER for 4 hours.... I don't understand why it takes so long...." Answer ... You are right... I am sorry that you have been here for 4 hours ... your twisted ankle, bruised arm or sniffles that you have had for 3 weeks is SOOOO much more important that the cardiac arrest that came in .. the non-responsive child that we are trying to figure out why we cannot get them to wake up... the mother of two young children that is having chest pains... It is an emergency room... be glad you have only been there for 4 hours... most are still sitting in the waiting room for longer than that.... vent over.
  5. The reason this client presented to the hospital was abdominal cramping and blood in the stool ... had a polypectomy that the doctors are suspecting as the cause for the bleeding. So Acute pain would also be a nursing diagnosis that I need to put that one in also...
  6. I am trying to word them correctly and in the correct order.. so any suggestions and construction appreciated. 1- Ineffective airway clearance related to obstructed airway manifested by COPD... ??? can I use COPD??? Patient is on 2 liters of oxygen via nasal cannula... and has history of COPD.. hx of CAD, CHF, Hypertension ---- respiratory rate is normal at 18... when on 2 liters oxygen 2- Ineffective tissue perfusion related to decreased hemoglobin concentration in the blood as manifested by a decreased oxygen saturation ... Patient dropped down under 95% when not on oxygen (2 liters) and hemoglobin was below normal limits but not at an extreme low 3- At risk for infection related to urinary tract as manifested by having a foley catheter for over 24 hours with low urine output. (client is on a 2 liter fluid restriction due to CHF) 4 - At risk for fall related to mobility issues as manifested by fatigue and weakness in legs 5-At risk for impaired skin integrity related to reduced mobility as manifested by order of bedrest I feel that there are better ones to select but I am so brain dead from this assignment any help would be greatly appreciated...
  7. We are going to several hospitals in the area but this is for a general classroom assignment. I was looking for a banding procedure, locations bands can be located, how many bands, what information goes on them. We were given topics to "teach on" and I just cannot find any information. And I promise you I have been looking. I would love to do this on just safety and preventing baby swapping but since I have to "teach" the parents... that just will not work..... lol would scare the heck out of them... use the baby swap that happened here in VA and came to light the year my oldest son was born... and he was born in that hospital... :)
  8. hi - I am currently trying to put together a teaching plan describing Newborn Identification with a target audience of the mother and father.. I have been working on it but unable to find anything in the book or on the web that gives me any information. Can anyone provide direction on this topic?
  9. just to let you know I spoke with my teacher ... the correct answer is personal drawers. Not sure how we got onto the respect issue in the reply post...
  10. Trying to figure out what helps an elderly client in a long term care setting feel more secure: Personal drawers or furniture in their room being left alone.... I know that per Maslow - security is a haven from external threats and the ability to safeguard personal possessions so I believe that it would be the personal drawers but then again not having someone constantly move items in your room also makes sense to me.... because of the safe from external threats. Even though a nurse should not be considered a threat I guess if they move items around then the person doesn't feel like they are safe because they don't have control.... Help working on a paper and want to have a good handle on this issue. thanks
  11. I loved A&P and was also NOT fond of Micro.... It bored the heck out of me... of look... a cell.... another cell.... wall no wall...... NOT what I will be doing.... so don't have a clue why it was a must.... Just saying....
  12. CONGRATS:coollook:
  13. Question... what do you do if a family (that is coming to see a client) fights over things when they are at the facility??? They are all grown people... one it the wife and the others are his children.... What would be the best thing to do...? Tell them to act right? or Ask them to schedule different times to come see him... They are disturbing the other clients and the client they are coming to see... it bothers him... what should I suggest be done?
  14. We are putting things in sections to help us understand them... ... :) appreciate the help.... still new at this.
  15. thanks... trying to figure this stuff out... so would answering a call bell fast of every client be an example?
