Have you spoken with manager about your concerns? This sounds to me like a poor work environment. Are you taking call?

I recently moved to Columbus (from MO) with 6 years nursing experience and got called for an interview within a week of submitting my application! I got hired at Mount Carmel East the same week as my interview. I'd apply and see what happens. You can always let the nurse manager or HR rep know of your situation. For example, I have to wait on my RN license to come from the state of OH. Good luck to you!

As an endoscopy nurse, I found myself getting called in for salmon, caribou, and moose meat food bolus. Gross!

The big difference is at a hospital setting you will be doing inpatients and outpatients and will most likely have take night call. I find that at a clinic the day goes much smoother because new cases will most likely not be added on.

Before I started nursing school I wanted to do L&D. During nursing school I wanted to do OR. Now i'm doing special procedures (endoscopy and radiology nursing) and can't imagine doing anything else!

As a new grad, I worked at SSM St. Clare (Fenton) for my first 9 months as a nurse. I was really pleased with the new grad classes and preceptorship during orientation. The only reason I left SSM is because I moved to a different state.

I went from working 12-hr night shifts on a med surg floor to endoscopy. I am in heaven! I love how interesting the cases are, giving sedation, only having 1 patient at a time, and never having to stay late at work to finish up charting. I work four 10s per week. And take night call once a week. I always thought I wanted to be an OR nurse until I started my current endo job. I have been doing endo for 1 year now and plan to never do anything else!

My hospital has a high turnover rate because it is located near two military bases (both Army and Air Force) and we constantly have spouses moving to and from our city.
