Your Pet and your schedule...
I live alone, work 12 hour shifts and have a minature poodle (pierre). He does good when I am gone. When I have to work, I get up and feed Pierre while Im getting ready then let him out right before I leave. He has dry food out just in case he gets hungry but rarely eats it. the first thing i do when i get home is let him out. he does have accidents sometimes but (lucky me) he only has accidents in the kitchen on the tile - easy cleanup. I am worried about one thing - Im getting married in May and moving to an apartment ( i have a fenced in back yard now and if Pierre ever gets loose out front he runs crazy like a mad dog and I have to chase him down). I will have to walk him on a leash when I move. Should I start now walking him on leash everytime he goes out to use the bathroom just so he'll know thats what walking on a leash means?

Anyone ever pass out at work....I just did :'(
I have never passed out, but my blood sugar bottoms out all the time. yesterday i started getting shaky in a pts room and excused myself quickly to check my blood sugar. I barely made it down the hall. my bs was 40 (i start getting symptomatic around 60). I had to down some oj and peanut butter quick. One time i was getting some meds out of the dumbweighter and hit my head hard when I was backing out of it. I didnt pass out but everything went black for a few seconds. I then went and sat down at the desk and starting telling an assistant what happened. the next thing i know everyone is like youre going to the er now. I later found out i was talking crazy and slurring my speech. they even said i started spitting in my hand!! I have no memory of this. i hit my head so hard i gave myself a concussion and neck spasms! how stupid is that? i now make sure my head is completly out of the dumbweighter before i stand up :chuckle

Did you see a positive PPD result?
I have had around 10 PPD tests and every time I get one the site looks worse than the one before. I think I may have reactions to the stuff they inject. Last one I too had a red bump about as big as a dime and it hurt. This took like 2 weeks to clear up completly. I also had a knot at the site. I think the OH nurse went to far in and went into the muscle as I also had bruise there.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo Woes
I took it for 4 months and hated it- my periods never regulated, pms was worse and i gained like 15 pounds. I went back to my doc and she changed it to yasmin which i have taken for about 3 years and I love. my periods come the same day (even the same time) every month and i hardly pms. i hope you find a pill that works well for you.

For all the RN's that passed nclex on 1st shot
Ok the first thing to do is calm down - no need in freaking out about it because odds are youll pass and if not its not the end of the world, you just take it again. I took 2 review courses and answered about 3000 questions. I also read thru a review book - just to hit the basics one more time. The day of the test I didnt feel confident and 75 questions later when the computer cut off I had no idea how i did. 1 and 1/2 weeks later I found out I passed. So just relax, buy a good review book and take a review course and you'll be fine.

Feeling like I'm a lousy nurse (rant)
The one thing I pride myself on is organization and time management. I have figured out a way to get my am assessment/med pass/nursing notes finished usually before the experienced nurses do. After report I gather all my piggybacks and narcotics that I will need for the morning pass and make sure my med cart is stocked with alcohol swabs, syringes etc. Then I take my cart down the hall. I go in the first patients room with all their morning meds. Before giving the meds I do my assessment. Then I give the meds and talk to the patients and/or pt families. When I walk out of the room I stand at the cart and do the nurses notes and opening statment. Then I go to the next pt and so on. This helps me alot. I have found that if you go do all your assessments then go back and do your meds and then go back and sit down to chart that you'll never get finished. Doing the assessment, meds and charting on one pt before I move on to the next also helps me to remember the patient - see if you go and do 7 assessments then go pass 7 pts meds then go sit down and chart you will have trouble remembering which pt is which and whose lungs sounded like what etc. This may not be possible where you work or you may think it sounds stupid but it really works well for me. The hardest thing Ive found so far is knowing when I need to call the doctor - i mean i know for life threatening things and such but you know - when labs are slightly off and things like that - I have to ask another nurse if they think I should call and knowing which dr to call for what problem too - like if the patient has 10 different MD's. Thats my weak spot.

Shut off at 75
Oh my lord - i too am freaking out. I took it today and like so many of you i have no earthly clue how I did - no idea at all. It cut off at 75 so Im hoping that is a good sign. My state (AL) doesnt do the quick results thing so i have to wait for 2 whole weeks - i may die before then. Anyone in Bama know if there is way to get the results quicker than that? Good luck to everyone still waiting!!

? about birth control ?
When I first got on BC a few years ago I took Ortho Tricyclen Lo. I hated it - it didnt help regulate my period and I gained about 20 pounds while taking it. So I went back to my Gyn and she put me on Yasmin. Ive been taking that for about 2 years and I love it. I start on the same day every month, it lasts about 2 days and I get no cramps. The only PMS s/s i have is sore breasts a week or so before I start. Oh and I have no kids (:) ) so it works for me! The pill may not be what your wanting but if you go that way I'd talk to your GYN about Yasmin. Good Luck in your search :chuckle!

Funniest injury you have ever seen.....
ok when I was little I for some dumb reason wanted to be hurt - I would do things like put on ace bandages on the school bus and tell everyone I sprained my wrist. I have no idea why I did this. Anyways when I was 7 I was playing outside and thought I would "fall down". So i fake fell - I mean I was just walking around the yard and fell. Imagine my surprise when my leg really started to hurt so off to the ER. Turns out my "fall" tore ligaments in my leg. I wore a hot pink cast for 6 weeks and got all kinds of attention.:chuckle Not long ago I told my mom about this - she didnt think it was too funny!
