Curious as to the Difference between EN and RN? Would that be equivalent to the US's LVN/LPN and RN?

Austin-Killeen
I never thought about a GS position, mainly because I would like to have a set schedule, and not a rotating one. When I was doing clinicals at BAMC-fort sam houston's army hospital-I had spoken with some agency nurses and GS nurses. Although the idea of being able to transfer my job sure does sound nice! SO is trying to reenlist to Germany, but that duty station will not be effective until AFTER his tour in Iraq is done. So, that gives us a year and some change. and THANKFULLY, we did get on Post Housing, it wasn't such a long wait for us, as we have 4 children. LOL We were in housing in a matter of days!! and you're right the drive on post is a PAIN, especially with all the check points, and then getting picked for a random inspection adds to it even more!! LOL I'm thinking that I will hear from the new agency possibly the week after thanksgiving...I am hoping anyway.

Spectrum Health was the agency that was hiring for Darnall, and actually I had an interview with DACH and it was then that I learned that Spectrum was losing their contract at the end of the fiscal year(10-31)Aurora-Columbia or vice versa, is taking on new contracts, this was just posted recently, so I am going to try that out. Kings Daughters might be the hospital affiliation you are thinking about, they are my next step, if I don't get in with Darnall. Did u like doing civillian contract? Were you set schedule or did your shifts change periodically?

Concern about cheap LPN school
Wonderful to know that we are all entitled to opinions, I am not bashing nor praising any One title.......IMO a Nurse is a nurse is a nurse.........

Anyone a CNA/nursing assistant b4 an LPN?
I worked my way up that nursing ladder just the same, CNA-LVN,,,,,,,while I was in our 2nd semester of Voc School, I applied for a job as a medication aide--in the state of TX if you are in a nursing program passing meds, you are able to pass meds on a floor as a medication aide. you can even work as a medicaiton aide while you are a GVN.Good luck to you!! I think that having those above skills under your belt, will DEFINETELY help you out during clinicals!!

Newbie CNA Question
I agree with the previous posters. I attended a college to become a CNA or Nurse technician as it was called when I lived in Cols, GA, back some 10 years ago. A 6 month course, which they now offer in 4 weeks...LOL Mind boggling to me. At any rate, the LTC facility that I work PRN for now,(worked as a cna, medication aide and LVN there) will send those seriously interested in becoming a CNA to classes, While working as a "Hospitality Aide" until the Certification for NA is complete. This way you get the hands on experience. Hope that Helps GOOD LUCK on your career field choice!!

Concern about cheap LPN school
WOW! can I just say, way to go you!! I attended a private vocational school and paid atleast 10 x's that amount!!! 11k and some change. The one and Only reason I did this was because there was Not a waiting list. In the end, its the knowledge you gain from the educators, not the price of the school.I would also look at the passing rate as that would be a Key tip for me. Congratulations and Good Luck in class!! ~Trisha
