So Fustrated!! Please help!!
@ heisec- I gotta start learning how to use the pen. I start school in Aug and want to know it inside, outside and upside down. Any tips that took you a while to figure out - or quirks about it? Thanks

Do you like the uniforms they give you for your school?
give? we have BUY all white: top, bottom, jacket, shoes & yes only white socks permitted lol

BRA!!!!
I either use a sports bra with an underwire, or I would second the Lane Bryant option - even if thier clothes dont fit, they have bras in a wider range of sizes (web site says 34b - 56i??). Full coverage for sure though or they will fall out... I am 38DDD (I refuse to buy a larger cup size) lol

Why on earth!
i like koi lindsey pants, but I have no hips and am 5'11 ... the talls are just long enough.

Anyone on the Cabrillo College wait list?
so cool... I am anxious about starting, and finishing lol. Just about to order my skills kit today :) Any helpful tips or advice?

Any guys with visible tattoos?
well, again, not a guy - but I have 6 tattoos, 9/16 gauged ears and lots of past healed piercings (3 lip, tongue, 2 eyebrow, 2 trigus, tongue, nose and earlobes)... thing is in how you present yourself. If your art truly is for yourself, and not to make others think you are cool, than covering them shouldnt be an issue - you still know they are there and still will be when you get off work or out of clinicals. I have been a pharmacy technician, a sunday school teacher, have 4 children (young) and been a high school youth advisor... there has never been a problem with any of these jobs... but I don't present as an "in your face and deal with it" sort. Being an individual is one thing, asserting this individuality in a manner that is bound to cause problems (possibly for you) is only going to make it an issue, as opposed to a nonissue. I am planning on a sleeve too, but bought long sleeves for this already. just my 2 cents -

Is this academic dishonesty?
I asked a current student about uniform requirements and stuff - to get a start on sales lol - he sends me multitudes of class lecture notes and slides...***** Overly helpful i suppose, but mostly nonsensical to me since I am not actually in the program yet and they have little to no significance to me right now :)

How much do you work on top of school
well, i don't work... outside of home - but I have 4 kids under 8, so that is work. Maybe a weekend gig?

Favorite bumper stickers
funny one i saw a while back... "if you're born again, do you have two belly buttons?"

Married Male Nursing Students
I was just slumming... find this interesting, because my husband is the one worried. I on the other hand am generally oblivious to the fact that someone may be interested. I do however always make friends better with guys than gals. Should be interesting when I start in Aug ... 6 hrs away from home for Mon - Fri every week

What size scrub pants do you wear and what size jeans?
I am 5'11 and wear a 16 ... and the Koi Lindsey are great pants. I get an XL tall. so you would def be a med or large (prob not the tall tho) :)

What is harder A&P or Micro?
i thought micro was pretty easy, the lab was a lot of memorization (of reactions) for tests, but not too bad. anatomy was a separate class than physio for my school, but I say anatomy was hardest of the three classes. I took micro and physio in the same semester - took finals 2 weeks early due to pre eclampsia w/ pregnancy... still got an A & B. Anatomy I got a low B - but hardly went to the lab because of morning sickness w/ smell of cadavers and the multiple disections. IMO good luck, whichever path you choose

Koi Scrubs
in theory, yea... scrub store said otherwise. was just looking for actual advice from people who use them. thanks :)

Koi Scrubs
can anyone comment on the shrinkage of the lindsey pants? I was gonna order the talls, but afraid they will shrink too much and be high waters! I am 5'11... also do they shrink in other terms as well? I tried on the large and they were perfect and the xl was messy looking.. but will they shrink substantially?? Thanks - so bummed I have to get white for nursing school!!

So Fustrated!! Please help!!
I just bought this pen in the Echo 8gb version... you can record and transfer, additionally, you can buy ($30) software to convert you written notes to typed notes.

Plus size watches
get a guys watch? I do this since I am 5'11 and womens watches look goofy on me. Or find a watch you like and buy extra links to add to the band?

baby and nursing school
I think that as parents, we have less time, but better time managment. I start in the fall and I have 4 children (1,3,5 &7). You can do it, it will be more challenging than an 18 year old with no responsibilities - but you know this is what you want, and if you are like me, it is for the betterment of your family (in the long run)... so, it is worth it!!

Recommended books to get a head start before nursing school?
My school suggests that we buy "calculate with confidence" for practice over the summer.... I start in the fall as well and we have to pass @ 100% a calculation test in the first week of class. I found one online for like $5 and it comes with a CD

So Fustrated!! Please help!!
I am sure this seems like... "Hello Captain Obvious.." But when I took A&P the teacher took 95% of the questions from the reviews at the end of the chapter. SO, being able to successfully answer those without exception may be able to help out. Just my 2 cents good luck

Drive or Fly
we are planning on my husband working the weekends that I am home, so the kids have less daycare time, and I have to come home to cook on the weekends for the whole week I am gone (includes shopping), as well as other household chores that hubbies don't usually do :) we have talked about if there is a big test or a special circumstance, I may not come back for the weekend, but this wouldn't work as a regular thing. I agree that the drive (350+ miles each way) will zap my concentraation or studying, but I am hopeing that it will not be too much of a drain. we may just do a trial run for the first semester, and then reevaluate at winter break. Thanks again for the helpful suggestions ~heather

Drive or Fly
MidnightAzelia... do you mean alternate flying and driving? Or simply staying at school for two weeks? The first may be possible... the later, not so much (my kids are young, i would miss them & they me). alternating flights and driving may work though... more to think about, thanks :)

Drive or Fly
cmw6v8 - I can fly out of a few locations (LAX, ONT, Burbank, Orange)... but have been told by southwest employees that they are just simply not doing very well at on time flights at this time. I have an 07 Aveo, great on gas but has 110,000 already. I should probably just put the miles on that and not get a diff car until I have to - I just worry it will break down on me (not that it has any issues), and I wouldnt have the time to go shopping for a car with the hectic schedule I am anticipating. But, I am thinking you are right about the driving - that way if clinicals run late, I dont miss a flight or anything. Thanks That Guy - yeah, flying would be about 220 per week - I was gonna just drive up once and leave my car there when i fly home, then I have to pay airport parking - so, that is a no go. As far as staying - it is my home town (just relocated 2yrs ago), so all my friends and family (parentals and sibs) are there and have offered me places... I think i am gonna rotate on a weekly basis, so as not to be a burden on anyone (but worry that this wont lend itself to stability for me, duh). thanks for your suggestions and help :)

Medical school vs Nursing School
"medical school has definitely been the hardest years of my life, and i oddly enough i truly look forward to more of this during my residency years. between memorizing 20 300+ powerpoint slides for one examination, studying nonstop for the boards, lasting 80 hour weeks during rotations, and flying to 9 different places for residency interviews, i can truly say that it was a very challenging part of my life. however, i do know that anyone else could do it, as long as their heart is in it. " mike109810 i think this really get to the crux of the "dispute" here. maybe some prople are not smart enough (but isn't that really a personal decision, not for someone else to say for them?)... but for others it is really a decision based on priorities. do you have the time in your life to devote 100 hours a week to something? do you have the fortitude to do this for several years in a row? i, personally, feel i am (or maybe was hahaha) smart enough to go to medical school... but i chose to change my major (biochemistry to sociology) in college to facilitate a diffirent pace in my life than i was feeling. i definitely love the absolutness of (most) science; but the individual interpretations of sociological and psychological theory were a diffirent kind of interesting to me - and at 20, almost more intriguing. so, i chose to do ba in sociology - then i went and did medical coding and transcription for 2 years, became a pharmacy technician for 6 years and somewheres in between i got married and had 2 kids. it was at this point (30yrs old) that i reevaluated what interests me and what would be a good fit for my family. i took the 3 pre-reqs i needed (anatomy, physiology and micro) and got on a waiting list (adn track, can not imagine taking out $60,000 when i came out of the uc system with $0 in loans). wow, this got longer than expected... sorry priorities of my family and the desire to not do the same thing for the rest of my life... these are the factors that led me to chose nursing. i can pick a specality or not, i can become an np or pa (because of the ba), if i so desire, after finding where my niche really is - or not. i always have noticed that it is not smarts, but the application of what you have and the desire, that make a great student... there are some really smart people that crap their life away "being smart".
