Hi Everyone I need some advice please. I am currently in a Nurse Practitioner program and I am in my last year...prayers. I recently had a midterm and I got the lowest grade in the class. I have beaten myself over it and I have really started to study. My final is not until the middle of December. I am not saying that I did not deserve the failing grade, but now I have to kick myself in Gear. I have about 60% of the class left and I know I can pass. My anxiety is killing me and my self criticism is killing me. I just wanted to know what anyone has used for a Review book? I currently have 2 Fitzgerald and Leik. I also work full time, have a family, clinical, and have to travel to school once a week. I understand working and going to school is crazy, I do not need advice on that. I really need advice and maybe some constructive criticism. If you could please help me on test taking strategies or anything I would be so so grateful! Thank you!

When I went to school I thought that it would be easier to find a job, but that has not been the case! I am so frustrated and I have been applying to many hospitals and not having success. I am in the process of getting my bachelors and have been working as an RN for almost 9 months, but the only jobs that will hire me is psychiatric hospital and the jail. I want the experience on a medical surgical floor so it would be easier for me to transfer other positions in a hospital. I do not understand what I am doing wrong!!!!! What courses other than my bachelors should I take? Should I take ACLS? Phlebotomy courses? Please help I really do not know what to do!!!!! I feel like the time I spent in school is not worth my student loans.

Anyone???? Any Suggestions???

I am so annoyed right now!!!! I took NCLEX RN this morning and I tried the Pearson vue trick about a hundred thousand times and it keeps saying the same thing.."this candidate record is on hold".... Blah blah blah!!!!! First I had major anxiety, but now with the help of Xanax and prayers I have relaxed...:)! How long does it take for me to know? I know that I can pay and get results in 2 days....but do I really have to wait instead of getting the results now? Why is it on hold? Ugh!!!!!! Is this good or bad???? I am going crazy!!!! I don't understand if this is a computerized test why does it take forever to get the grade? My LPN boards were not this crazy!!!! Please someone help. Thank you!!!

hurricane87...no none is out to get you at Excelsior....you just have to know your stuff...just like any other program. Yes you will find on boards that some faculty is out to get you, but that life! You can not sit there and be worried about the CPNE. It is a doable test...and if you know your stuff then you pass if you don't then you try again. It is all about attitude and knowing your stuff. I have nothing but nice things to say about Excelsior...they have been nothing but nice to me. If you want something in life...get out there and get it and try again...you want your RN....then you go out and get.....:)...where in NY do you live?

I love Rob's videos!!!!!! Sheri Taylor online workshop is amazing...and very helpful.....make sure you use them!!!!!

Tnmarie you are amazing and so thorough! Fcca is basically another exam that is taken biweekly over 8 weeks at your home..and that is all I can say about it! :)....I also went through "normal" schooling and then went to EC.... The normal school said that I could be done in a year...BUT it is really difficult to do that....but if you put your mind to it....you can do anything! I love EC much praise and love to the school!

Praise to God!!!!! Scheduled to take and pass GOD WILLING CPNE in Utica May 31st!!! Butterflies in my stomach....nervous.....anyone else taking it that time and place? Ugh!!! Can't wait for that to be over and then study for NCLEX!!!!!!

Question for both tnmarie and John....I am God Willing planning to test in Utica and I will also be done God Willing with my Fcca final by the end of December... my question is how long did it take you to get a cpne date from when you applied? I am just trying to get an idea.....thank you!

I took my last exam yesterday and passed THANK GOD! Getting ready for FCCA......pm me please if you can and let me know where you are in the program....:)

I spoke to them yesterday and they told me to call them tomorrow and check. You do not want to miss the date NOV 2 for FCCA.....I will send you a text....so happy for you GIRL!!!!

I have met some pretty amazing people on allnurses! You have all been so kind to me and I apologize for not responding to everyone, but I was wondering if there is anyone in this area that wanted to study together?! I have one more test left Thank God...and that is the BEAR LS3....please let me know if anyone is out there in this area...let's get this done!

I am so upset and honestly feel like a failure! I thought I studied enough, but obviously I did not! Now on top of believing that I am a failure I have to face family and friends....I just don't no what to do...or where to turn to.....someone please help me...or PM me....I am drowing....full of sadness and sorrow...this was supposed to be my last exam....

So believe it or not...I managed to remember or parts of the questions that I missed....all 130....I forgot to mention Lunah that I do have the books...but skimmed through them....MISTAKE....I MADE VERY DUMB DUMB DUMB mistakes on my exam...I went blank...maybe because of the lack of sleep or whatever...but GOD WILLING I Will be prepared next time......THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ADVICE!.....

So I just took the LS3. I obviously did not study enough of the material!!! Ugh! I am so frustrated. This was supposed to be my last test at EC. I went to Barnes and Nobles and purchased NCLEX SAUNDERS 5th Edition....hopefully that will be the missing link. I feel down and out....but I can't give up. I am very upset...I studied from Vangonotes, Lisa Arends, Study Group 101, Excelsior Practice Exams....does anyone else have any suggestions....I just want this nightmare over with....any advice would help....please and THANK YOU!!!!

Hey Nervous1....I would not test in Syracuse....lets just say it is an uphill battle...and New York is amazing....nothing to be scared of...just set your sites on Albany

Thank you LunahRN...I am almost done...I have LS3 and the Clinical online class (what I was told by Excelsior) and the actual CPNE. I have read some discussions from you. I read that you went to the workshop in PA...which one was it? Where did you test? I am nervous...but I am sure everyone is....I have been an LPN for several years and also went to a traditional RN school....so most of my nursing credits from the other school were transferred to Excelsior (I know I am blessed...because as my advisor told me...that is unheard of) I only had to take Transitions and LS3 for classes. Do you have any idea where it is better to test...either Utica or Albany? Any infor would be helpful...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

Hello Everyone, Some questions....anyone that has completed the CPNE...what does it consist of? How many people are testing you? How difficult is it? How many procedures do you have to successfully complete? I am planning on taking a workshop...I believe the one that I was looking into was in Pennsylvania...anyone know of that one...sorry I forgot the name of the workshop. Also does anyone know what is a better site to test in...in the New York area...I was thinking of either Albany or Utica...anyone like one over the other...any input would be greatly appreciated....THANK YOU!!!!!!

Thank you so much reebok! There are so many files and folders in SG101...I don't have the disc in front of me but is there a folder that says main study file? Also I went to Excelsiors website and I could not see where in community I could partner up with someone....maybe I will call my advisor tomorrow....this is so overwhelming....but I am determined to make it...with the help of God....thank you so much for your help and I look forward to some more guidance...:)
