  1. Just wanted to also give an update on my process. I completed a digital/video interview, had a phone interview with the HR Recruiter assigned to the position and also had a phone interview with the team of hiring managers for the role I was applying for. I found out on Friday that I did NOT get the position. Am really bummed about it too. The process is so detailed and I honestly have the necessary experience so I'm not sure what went wrong.
  2. 403RN - Wondering if you are still enjoying your job at UHG? I have been going through the process and am finally meeting with hiring manager for a Utilization Review position later this week. This will also be a WAH role. Do you happen to remember any of the interview questions you were asked? I want to be as prepared as possible.

Anyone here work in Reproductive Endocrinology (Fertility Nursing, IVF, Donor Egg)? I worked in this area for 2 years (several years ago), but it has always been near and dear to my heart. I'd love to find a job as a Nurse Educator in this specialty specifically with a pharmaceutical company.
  4. I'm really excited. I finally got a job in research! I just blindly submitted my resume to a center in my area a few weeks ago. I got a call on Monday to set up an interview (about 5 minutes after I accepted another position). I interviewed on Thursday and got a call on Friday morning with an offer. It's definitely different from what I had been doing, but I'm looking forward to it.
  5. I'm really interested in this field too. Seems pretty difficult to get in to since every post I've seen requires experience.
  6. First, let me say that I have been an RN for 13 years. I also have 2 years of past ED experience. The issue is that I have been working in specialty pharmacy UM for close to 9 years. That means I have not had a direct patient care role in quite a while. Knowing this would be an issue, I took an RN refresher, IV Certification, BLS and ACLS to make me more marketable. Unfortunately, the nurse educator said that it would be a stretch to go back into the ED as I had been out of it so long and that at this point, new grads would know more. Needless to say, I was so close and really bummed that it didn't work out. I have applied to 40 positions at FH over the last several months and have had no luck.
  7. I'm been away from direct patient care for the last 8.5 years. I have been in utilization management for specialty pharmaceuticals most recently. I am now interested in going back to direct patient care, but am having ZERO luck so far. I was even told recently that a new grad knows more than I do after being out of the hospital so long
  8. I've been out of the hospital setting for several years too working in specialty pharmacy UM. I have been trying to get back into the hospital system and find it to be very difficult. I was actually told very recently that a new grad knows more than me since I've been out of the hospital for so long. I am an RN-BSN of 13 years.
  9. I'm an RN-BSN in Orlando.
  10. What about the length of the stethoscope tubing? What is the standard length? How about 1 tube or 2? Suggestions?
  11. mc3, How do you find these positions? I've tried the Orange and Seminole County school web sites, but haven't seen anything.
  12. I have a similar situation too. I'm an RN/BSN for 13 years. For the last 8, I have been in specialty pharmacy UM. I now want to go back to patient care and am not having much luck. I'm not a new grad clearly, but I haven't done direct patient care in 8 years. I was just thinking today about trying out home health to try and get some skills back and then looking for hospital positions.
  13. I went to UCF in Orlando for my BSN and there is definitely extensive papers to write.
  14. Is anyone here getting a position or interviewing in Women's Health (L&D, Mother-Baby, etc)? I've seen programs specific to ED, Critical Care and OR, but was wondering if the possibility of Women's Health exists.
  15. I recently contacted a recruiter at Florida Hospital in Orlando and was told that the evening diff was 16%, nights was 35%, weekends/holidays was 13% the whole shift.
  16. I am not a new grad and am an RN, but since I've been away from patient care for a long time I have been looking at refresher courses. Valencia Community College offers one for RNs and Herzing University also has a program. Look them up to see if those programs apply to LPNs too.
  17. The hospital I have been interviewing with uses all behavioral type questions which is a bit stressful. For example, "Tell me about a time you had a difficult patient? What happened? What was the outcome?"
  18. I have not, but would love to. These jobs seem really hard to come by. I'm in Central Florida (Orange County) and haven't really seen any postings for a job like this.
  19. Situational may not be the correct word. I guess I will find out since the interview with the Educator will take place this Thursday.
  20. No one?? My interview is this week and I'm hoping that it goes well.
  21. I would love to work at Winnie too. I had a great interview in the Winnie Palmer Pre-Admissions department back in February. In my several follow-up conversations/emails with the Nurse Manager; she said that she would love to have me on their team, but it seems as though all of their hiring as been on a hold. For the last several weeks, Winnie Palmer wasn't even coming up as a selection when on their careers/job section. I know this hospital system did have some layoffs back in November-December and I am hearing that they are going to be having more as well.
  22. I will also be having a second interview for an ED position this week. I met with HR briefly at a hospital hiring event, I interviewed with the Nurse Manager of the ED, I completed the personality survey and submitted the required 4 references. This week I will be meeting with the Educator of the ED Nurse Transition program. I hope that it will be slightly less stressful since I have gone through several steps already. Let me know how your interview went and what questions you were asked. Good luck!
  23. Thank you GrnTea. I have been an RN/BSN for 13 years; however, have been in a different specialty (managed care/pharmaceuticals) for the last 8 so these scenario type questions are things I need to brush up on. When I met with the Nurse Manager a few weeks ago, she didn't ask any question like this. I am meeting with the Educator this week and am really not sure what types of questions she will ask.
  24. Does anyone have a good reference where I can look up situational interview questions? I'm wanting to refresh on questions geared to..."which patient would you see first" questions.
  25. Are there are resources that are helpful to study that will help with "who would you see first" questions? I'm going to be having a second interview with the Educator for an ER internship program and want to be prepared if asked questions on how I would prioritize the patients I would see first.
