  1. no worries, good pop up is a great sign that you passed...Trust me on this... I took my NCLEX in Dec when I ran out of time and I stopped at the question 160th...Yes you heard it right, I'm a slow test taker, so I took time to answer each question....When I left the testing center, I thought I failed it big time. I went home and tried the trick, got good pop up...4days later, I saw my name posted on the California Board of Nursing...Congrats
  2. I was in your situation before, I didn't get accepted in my first year of applying, then in my second year I applied about 10 nursing programs and finally got accepted and I had to move out of state for a nursing program. Now I am a RN, I think you just need one reason why you should be a nurse...make other people lives better.....try to apply to other state nursing programs and apply as many nursing programs as you can... Good luck
  3. Congratulations...the pearsonvue trick has worked above 95%, trust it
  4. it's true that you should sit the patient up before doing anything else
  5. I think you've studied hard and did everything you could to pass the NCLEX, so you should be proud of yourself, now let God do the rest for you....If you don't mind, pm me your first and last name, I'll check the BON site for you. One thing that I don't get it that why you couldn't be able to do the Pearsonvue Trick since it works for many people?
  6. yea, they're really nice friends of mine and I have 3 other filippino friends in Cali who also went to nursing school. 4 of us started nursing school at the same time, 3 are RNs, 1 still going to nursing school. Yea, Denver is a great place to live, there are many job opportunities, the only thing that I don't like about Denver is too much snow. I think Denver Health usually hire new graduates, if you can apply there, it will be great for you.
  7. sorry about what you're going through...i know it's painful of waiting to hear the result, I hope you passed. The worse part of taking the NLCEX in Cali is they don't have the Quick Results just like many other states, so the waiting is horrible. I actually didn't receive a letter from the BON that's told me that I passed. I found out my result on the BON website after 4 days of waiting. Then a week later, they sent me a Blue card that's said I'm a registered nurse, and a wall certification a week later on. So are you in California right now or still in Colorado? I lived in Denver city 2 years ago and have some Phillipino's friends.
  8. @myAngel71: on the other thread, you're asking if anyone from Colorado..I went to a nursing school in Colorado and just moved back to Cali since september... Are you able to see your name on the Ca- BON website yet? Notice that due to the holidays, it might take you longer to see your name posted, so just hang on and keep praying
  9. I know how you feel...I had the same feeling 3 weeks ago after I took mine. I kept constantly checking the BON site to see my name on it or not. I used Kaplan, Hurst Review and Saunder for the review, but I didn't use LaCharity even though most people have successfully passed the NCLEX with it. I think Kaplan is a pretty good review so far, it may or may not work for everyone though. Also, all the QB questions are similar to the NCLEX review. They also teach you a strategy how to answer each question. So how many day have you waited so far? usually take 3-6 days to see your name posted on the Ca -BON if you have SSN#
  10. so when did you take your NCLEX? does your state have quick result? Since I took my in Cali, I had to wait 4 days to get the result although I didn't like to wait...hehe. I'll pray for you
  11. yea, I passed it on my first attempt. I was scared at first because I knew my English isn't that great, so I spent a lot of time on each question and I thought I failed it big time after I walked out the testing center. I guessed most of the question and now still can't figure out how did I pass it...
  12. I think it's always better to have an RN than a LPN since the fees are about the same and better job opportunity. You took it once and you already know how was it like, just need to review the content and focus on a strategy how to answer each question. English is my second language just like you, so study harder is what you need to do. Good luck on your next NCLEX exam.
  13. :ancong!:
  14. you're very welcome. To be honest with you, when I took my NCLEX, I guessed most of the answers too because I couldn't apply the strategy that I learned from the Kaplan and was freaking out during the test. After I left the testing center, I knew that I failed, but I guessed God has heard my pray and found out that I passed a week later. So just keep praying everyday. I hope you passed it. BTW, Merry Xmas to you and your family. Does your state have quick result?
  15. sorry to hear about your sister baby situation, hope you and your sister are well. I think you did your very best on the NCLEX, you prepared it greatly and studied hard, so now you should be relax while waiting for the result. of course, Your sister situation might have been affected you on the exam, so hope you passed. Have you tried the PVT trick yet? I'll pray for you and your sister

hi there Here is what I believe you should have: 1, Kaplan course: for strategy, know the strategy how to eliminate incorrect answers, do as much QB questions as you can 2, Saunder book: for content review, use the nclex 4000 to practice content. 3, Linda LaCharity book: for delegation and prioritization, a lot of people here have used this book and passed in their 1st attempt 4, Take a review course: NCSBN course, 49 dollars for 3 weeks, it's very helpful NCLEX 4000: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
  17. sorry to hear that, seem like after failing the first time, the second time will be tougher, but you still need to get up and study hard to pass this because there is no other options for you to choose...I think you should take a week break, make the study becomes part of your life, and you will pass it.
  18. I agree with most people here, take a week off to relax, then register for a review course like NCSBN online review course, which cost 49 buck for 3 weeks. As long as you don't quit, then you still have a chance to pass this test.
  19. yea, i used the Kaplan book, the RN book and watched the review online videos along together. Each day, i tried to finish 1 video and 1 unit of the book. There are more than 10 review videos , so it took me like 1-2 weeks to finish all of them. In my third week, I started doing the questions, 100 questions per day, I read all the rationales of either right or wrong answers, there is a study mode in the Kaplan question bank questions that allow you to see the rationales, im not sure if you know that?. then in the final week before the test, I did 150 questions per day with the NCLEX4000. If there was anything I didn't understand, I looked it up in the Kaplan RN book. The Kaplan only taught me about strategy, the decision tree, so made sure i was able to use it every time I did the practical questions. Beside using Kaplan, I also used the Saunder book because it has great content...everything you need, it has all. But remember, nursing knowledge is huge, you really can't learn everything, but make sure you know the basic nursing knowledge. I can tell you that the NCLEX questions are about the same questions you see in the Kaplan QB questions...I think I put like 8-12hrs per day to study every day, so I think if you want to pass it in your 1st attempt, then put more effort, make your life into a study mode. Since English is my second language, I think you could do fine The book I mentioned above is more about priority and delegation, which you willl see a lot of priority and delegation questions in the NCLEX, and a lot of people here have successfully passed the NCLEX by using it.
  20. Sorry to hear that you're struggling...I think Kaplan mainly focuses on the strategy, so that means you must learn how to eliminate each incorrect answer based on ABC, assessment > Implementation, Maslow...but it doesn't teach you much about the content. If you have troubles to figure out the correct answers because you never heard it before or lack of nursing basic knowledge, then re-watch the video or look up the infor in the Kaplan book. Here is the Kaplan strategy book that I used, this book will give you all the strategies of how to answer the NCLEX questions, I highly recommend, you can buy it at Barn and Noble or Border or Amazon. Amazon.com: Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2010-2011 Edition: Strategies, Practice, and Review (Kaplan Nclex-Rn Exam) (9781419553448): Barbara J. Irwin, Judith A. Burckhardt: Books In the Kaplan QB practical test, there is a study mode that allows you to see the rationales, so read all the rationales of each question, make sure you understand it. If you don't understand it, look it up in the Kaplan book. Since the Kaplan question bank is limited and more about priorization, you can use the NCLEX4000 together with the Kaplan because the NCLEX4000 is more testing about the content, which I posted above in my earlier post.
  21. Here is a head up for you: Focus most on: 1, Priority: which pt you should see first or which pt is most unstable. 2, Precaution: airbone, droplet, standard, contact....CDC is a great resource to learn about precautions. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 3, Delegation: highly recommend the book by Linda lacharity, although I didn't use this book, others people recommend it 4, Math: mcg/kg/min Amazon.com: Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination (9780323065702): Linda LaCharity PhD RN, Candice K. Kumagai RN MSN, Barbara Bartz RN MN CCRN: Books
  22. I'm glad that you did have fun....it's one of the life time moment. Were you tired from eating too much or tired from having too much fun? yea, the wall certification is so much better...yea the card is unique....Maybe I'll come to celebrate when there is another chance, hopefully
  23. yes, it's an official result. Pearsonvue provides the NCLEX for most states, so the result they provided is 100% accurate and official. Good luck and hope you passed. Keep me posted, okay.
  24. I took it in Cali, so I had to wait 4 days to see my name posted on the BON website Other states are even quicker than Cali in posting names.
