  5. :crying2: hello everyone...I'm back home from camp j/k i'm glad to be back but was sad to leave...I had a great time at camp...I practiced my assessment skills and gained some confidence in going with my 'gut' feelings, and knowing when to ask for help...I had a wonderful experience and will be returning for cover days in a week or so...They all sang me a camp song goodbye and made me a cake:balloons: It was very flattering...I will definetely return! Thanks for all the support those of you who were excited for me:)
  6. Hi everyone, and thank you for all the replies. I am having a complete blast at camp and learning a lot of great assessment skills!! I will fill you all in when I get home....thanks again!!:)

  8. unfortunately, I do agree...Call me unrealistic...but I just hope that people keep joining nursing for the fact that they want to "make a difference" and of course the ones that join for other reasons are also greatly needed...but just as long as everyone treats each patient as an individual and not as a 'case'...thats all...Good luck in all you do...:)
  9. okay...let's just clear this up...I think that being a nurse and having your number one reason be for job stability and all that is perfectly realistic...I just was getting the impression from some of your earlier posts that that was the ONLY reason your going into it, which I don't think is ethical....sorry if you felt that I was judging you...I didn't mean to push any buttons...I was just trying to make the point that TRULY caring about people is a HUGE aspect of nursing care, not only to do the job right, but to earn the PRIVELEGE of being a nurse....thats all...I truly am sorry if I offended you, hope that clears up what I was trying to say:)
  10. Best of luck to you:) I think once you have some more clinical experience you'll realize if its right for you, and where you want to be....but in my own opinion(you know everyone has one) I think you'll realize you need to have a little more heart into it if your gonna last....Not that you need to be the next Florence...but you'll see....
  11. did you miss the lectures on the psychosocial/emotional aspect of human beings...i'm not saying you need to make best friends with all your patients, but come on...you make it sound like your going in to nursing like you'll be checking people out at the grocery store??? Have you ever been really sick and under the care of nurses?(I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm just trying to understand where your coming from) It's a lot more than a steady job...or at least it should be...Sincerely, Frusturated with some replies to this thread:stone
  12. Thanks so much for the tips...I really needed that:) I'm finishing up a review course this week and plan to take the boards within the next 3wks...and my nerves are certainly active!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot... :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
  13. Just wondering what ended up happening tara...I am also curious about being an RN in the Air Force....Best of luck....fill me in on any details you've obtained...:)
  14. Well, I can see where your coming from as a mom and all, but I guess this camp has had new grads in the past...and they've kept the kids safe...I think it will be okay especially considering I won't be alone at first...What do you think?? I get the feeling you think I should turn this job down...but I've already accepted it?? Any words of encouragement...
