Excelsior INCONSISTENCY
i'm not too sure about the straighterline courses. but, i will tell you that when i was trying to get approval for my a&p credits, it was a matter of it covering all body systems. so, i ended up finding an online a&p through new mexico junior college for only $54 a credit. (and i am in a different state) for less than $300 a course, i took a&p i and ii through that online cc college. best decision ever. and because it was through a cc, it was for sure accepted. i have learned not to take anything without written approval from ec. my advisor that i always work with is great. she is fair and nice and so helpful. i am about to take cpne next month, and have completed all my gen ed courses. so, ec is a good way to go. hope you get this worked out!

Clep analyzing and interpereting literature
i actually took intro to sociology at a community college online. i know this sounds bad, but i didnt want to have to study a whole course like you do for clep. i liked it broken apart and online through the cc. only reason i did the analyzing lit was because i read from other students that you cant really study for it. and that is true.

Clep analyzing and interpereting literature
no prob! i think this is an excellent way to get credit quickly and cheaply. i will answer any questions you have! :) go to cleps website, and search for a testing location near you. call the testing location to set up an appt for you to test. when you get there they set you up at a computer and you enter your credit card info on that computer. also, some testing sites charge $20-25 to test there. itt institute charges $25.

Clep analyzing and interpereting literature
in my area pearson did not offer it. i went to a itt technical insitute that administered them. there were several places like that around me that will give them. i can't remember how many questions, but the time was about 90 min or so. i used every bit of that time. the questions are setup to where you read a excerpt of a story, poem, etc. and then they ask you a series of questions about what you just read. most of the excerpts were from british or old english writers, so the grammer and language was not what i was used to. that is the hard part. also, the outline says it can test you on literary terms. my test however, did not. mine was basically read the excerpt and then go look at line __________ and tell what that meant. the questions are multiple choice. hope this helps!

Clep analyzing and interpereting literature
the analyzing and interpreting lit is a clep test. you go to a local college or testing center to take the test. as soon as you schedule and take the test, you are done. you get 6 credits of humanities/electives for this one. well worth $77 to give it a try. i bought the rea book and did the practice tests and read through it, then took the test a few days later. easiest 6 credits i have ever got. however, if you dont have a strong background in reading literature and understanding what it is saying, it may be more difficult for you. for me it was worth a shot and knocking out 6 credits.

Clep analyzing and interpereting literature
i took this test about 4 months ago. honestly there is not much to study. i got the rea book as well and did the practice test. basically it is a test where you either know it or you dont. you either learned it in school growing up or you didnt. not really a good way to study. with that being said..... its so worth the $77 to take it. if you fail, oh well. but, if you pass you just knocked out 6 hrs of humanities for $77. which is awesome. i did it and passed. it was for sure worth it! good luck!!

Medical Terminology- finished!
i'm not sure what degree everyone is taking this medical terminology course for, but....... just fyi for anyone wondering- excelsior does not accept this course as an elective or anything towards the asn degree. i tried to get approval for it and they said that it is a duplication and would not be approved. just a heads up if any of you are doing the lvn-asn program.

Got My CPNE Date!!!!!
Thanks everyone! I'm excited and scared at the same time! Loops it took 3 weeks to get my date. The lady from MPAC called yesterday and went over the schedule and options with me. I wasn't expecting them to be so nice and to let me choose. I'm atctually at Lynns workshop today. It's day one. I'll let you know how it goes! I want to take another one but I'm not sure I can afford it now. I'm thinking of doing Sherri's online workshop. It's only $150 a month. What are your plans? Are u going to do a workshop? Are you in Wisconsin? I have never been there.

hey robin! i will be seeing you there tomorrow! kind of nervous about it. did you do the careplan she sent yet? i did it, but not really sure. i believe that the ncp, evaluation, student pcs recording form are all found in appendix h starting on page 421. i'm not sure which forms on the lab, so im going to take all that pertain to it to be safe. starting on page 414 it has the lab station check off forms. and in section j of unit iv, there are the recording forms for the lab stations. not sure if im right or not..... but im going to take all this and shouldn't miss anything. see you tomorrow!

Preparing for CPNE, overwhelmed!
thanks guys! the more i read the study guide the more i'm realizing that it is logical and does make sense the way they want it done. it just is going to be a matter of memorizing and practicing! i'm planning on doing a lot of studying and practicing before lynn's workshop next month so that i can get the most out of it. and i ordered the flashcards and audio cd from excelsior. any other tools recommended? thanks again!

Preparing for CPNE, overwhelmed!
i feel your pain and anxiety!!! i'm in the same boat. i printed out the study guide and im going to lynn's workshop next month. but, its all so overwhelming. im very unsure about the iv portion. i dont have any iv exposure since school. also, i'm curious about something else.... what do you do if you are assigned a task that you have never done before? i read yesterday on another forum of a student having to use a doppler. i've never had training on that. does anyone know what the right way to handle that would be?

CPNE Workshop Advice Needed
hello! i just applied for the cpne. i am attending lynn's workshop next month. i was thinking about attending a second workshop and need some advice from those that have gone to workshops and been through cpne. due to $$ limitations, i am trying to figure out the best time to take the second one and also taking into consideration the cost of the workshop and travel. lynn has another one in may that is in a neighboring state and is only $200 since i will have attended the first one of hers. any advice on what month to take the second one? what about taking two from the same instructor? would it be better to go to one of the other ones or is lynn's good enough to go twice? any help would be appreciated!!! thanks!

Passed LS3 Today!!!!!!
yes, i feel that i figured out as i went along what was critical to learn for the exams. each exam got better for me. i started the nursing exams at the end of november and finished the last one today. i spent about 1-2 weeks on each. i could have done them faster, but i work full time and have small kids. but, i am pleased with my pace. i still have the info lit credit to get, but other that that im done with the courses. thankfully! i have been stressed since november trying to get them done.

Passed LS3 Today!!!!!!
thanks! what i did for each exam was read all the chapters assigned on the content guide. then i took the first practice exam. then i studied back over the readings and sg101 notes. then i took the last practice test. to learn the specific disorders i used notecards and carried them around with me. i also practiced questions with the saunders book. that helped a lot. the biggest thing i can recommend is to make sure you read all the assigned chapters. i didnt do that the first exam, and it hurt me. after i made sure i read every chapter it said to, i did better. hope this helps! good luck!!

Passed LS3 Today!!!!!!
passed ls3 today with an a!!!!! so happy to have that one over with! i sat there the entire test really thinking that i was failing. it was sooooo hard. now that i have taken all of the nursing exams, i can tell you (in my opinion) that ls3 is the hardest. it is so tricky and requires a lot of knowledge and critical thinking. now onto the fcca and cpne!!!!!!
