HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Nursing Math
Beth, Thanks so much for catching my request. I will check out the site. Thanks again. I'll be posting again, if I have any questions. Oh, I asked one of the site managers for this forum if they can establish a math site only...for calculations. So we'll see! Thanks, stuff

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Nursing Math
Can anyone recommend a good nursing math calculations website. I am having a rough time. I got so upset in my calculations class today, that I cried:o. I guess ns is getting the best of me. All my instructor kept saying to us is "this is easy".....at that point, I just wanted to pack my bags and books and go home. I guess I was emotional from an A/P exam that I took later today and it was difficult. Anyway, please help. This is the second week of math calculations and I gotta score a 90 to pass the class!:uhoh21: Thanks

HELP! Focus of care for metastatic breast CA?
Sarani... this may be a long shot, but perhaps you can go the the american cancer society website. perhaps google metastatic breast cancer support group...maybe for families. I had the opportunity to do a term paper on death and dying. After searching...I emailed a person who organized a a support group and I emailed her questions and I was able to use the interview in my paper. Perhaps you can check out Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY...they are a hospice facility. Also, the visiting nurse service in NY...they have a hospice program. They may be able to assist. Hope some of these ideas help. Good luck....take care! Ang

A New 50 year old nurse!?????
You are 50 and fabulous......do it. I am starting my "second...third" career. I am currently a therapeutic recreation specialist. I am forty8 and still moving honey. I will begin LPN 10month accel. course in 2 weeks. Don't deny yourself. Think positive. Be organized. Learn that math. I say all of this to say....you have one life to live...if you did not take the opportunity, and when you are sitting in the nursing home talking to yourself...you may have wished u took the opportunity. Don't do it for anyone else, but yourself! I've wanted to do nursing for a long time. I completed a nursing course in high school....took the NCLEX in 1976..FAILED and got discouraged. My current employer has a grant because of a nursing shortage...they paid for prep courses so that I can take the Cnet exam...I passed and now there is no stopping me now. (sorry for the long speech)....but do it. I don't even know how I am gonna do it...but i am. school everyday and then i have to work 21 hours. I have to take 2 trains and a bus going there and coming back....bus train....to my job....then three trains to go home.......I am gonna be a well trained, but tired LPN!!!!

The key is ORGANIZATION....and oh, I have to purchase a dayminder..calendar to log down my assignments, my study goals etc. You and I seem to be on the right track to nursing school .....INSANITY...LOL. Good luck and thanks for your posting. Hopefully more will respond! Keep me posted of more supplies....

Online classes
Hi Debdeb.... I understand what you mean. I took the C-Net exam. I have taken this exam at least 7 times. I had problems with the math and also the reading section. To my surprise, I passed! I work for a LTC facility in the bronx. They received a grant and 11 of my class mates will be attending the BOCES-Southern Westchester 10 month program starting in August 2007. Don't give up. Continue to study the math...adding, subtractions, decimals, fractions, conversions, measurments. Obtain a study guide and/or check out a basics math book..9th grade. Good luck with everything! The main thing is DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Online classes
Hi Shmitty: From my experience, I went online 3-4 times during the dayand at night. The beauty of doing online classes, you can log in 24-7. My point what I was stressing is that you should log in often because your instructor knows the amount of times that you log in and post, etc. I'm sure u want an "A". I obtain my bachelors strictly attending in person. Then I wanted to obtain my master's but not rushing from work to school and getting home at 11pm or 12. I had alot of flexibility when I was taking my master's courses at work. So I'd log on, see what the conversation was or assignment, etc and then pick it up again after I cooked dinner for the family, etc. There were times when I fell behind when a paper was due and ended up doing an all nighter and had to get up and go to work !!! I put the program on hold. I have about 6 more classes to do online. The opportunity at my job allowed me to take prep classes for the c-net and then when i passed, the school i am attending interviewed me, then i was accepeted. my job received a grant. Once i pass the nclex, I will have to give my job back 3 years work as a LPN. So I think it's great. What year are you in? Are you an LPN already? Anyway, take care. We'll talk again.

Online classes
I saw your post regarding online classes. One huge tip....BE ORGANIZED! also be very focused. Try to discipline yourself when it comes to logging on and responding and participating. Doing online classes are wonderful cuz you can log on in your pajamas and tea after you put the kids to bed if you have any. I took some business classes and the interaction with class mates were great. That's pretty much it. Good luck on your journey. I am starting a 10 month LPN program in September so I know I have to get my act together. Oh also, if you are an index card user....buy them. They are great when you have to remember terms and helpful for quizzes and exams. Color coded ones are great. Ok. Take care!
