Retake a&p I, yes the C+ is not great, but 25% of admissions criteria is based on A&P I alone. Your GPA is killing your chances. Retake your lower ones. The CT community colleges are numbers driven. You can do this! My friend had a lower Teas score and finally got in after finally getting an A- in a&p I. Good luck.

Good luck to all! I graduated from Gateway a year ago, I moved down South for a new grad residency program. I love my job! I still keep in touch with some professors and clinical instructors; as a whole they are very supportive. If anyone has questions feel free to PM me.

Agnes, your stats are good, but TEAS are low. When you take them on Friday make sure you get a print out to see where your weakest section is. If you don't pass on Friday you have a couple of weeks to practice and retake it one more time. Amazon has cheap older edition TEAS practice books, you can rent or buy. The community school library has some on reserve too. You can do this! Good luck tomorrow :)

It's really hard to say based on the info you've given. But you can do this! I was in your shoes too, my undergrad gpa was 2.9 but my applying gpa was 3.69 which helped out a lot. Maybe meet with somone from the nursing deptmarment or info session to be sure. When I applied I did not need a statistics math class. Go through your transcript and figure it out based on what you need it apply like, eng 101, 102, intro to psych and sociology and so on and so on. Add those up, and if that gpa is low then retake any low grades. Try to get at Least a b+ or a if you can in A&P I since it's worth 25% of the application. Good luck!

I'm at Gateway, I have a Bachelor's in biology, and couldn't afford the accelerated programs. I think with the an associate program you can work 24 hours ok, but it would be tremendously difficult in an accelerated program. The community colleges have articulation agreements with many BSN and Sacred Heart for their RN to MSN if you meet the minimum GPA requirements. Good luck on whatever path!

Hi guys. I'm at Gateway finishing my first year. It's the hardest thing I've ever done, but I love it. My clinical group is like a family. I was pulled from the waitlist, I was under ten last year. They had over 400 people apply this year. Don't give up. PM if I can be any help :)

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Honestly, you will find a tremendous support system at school. Not everyone, but most people at school will be in the same boat as you. During our student orientation, we actually discussed that not everyone has support at home. Find people right away at school. Even if you are not that talkative, try to branch out. We exchanged phone numbers in my clinical group on the first day, and have been texting. Because you are going through such stress together, they will understand, lean on your new family. As for the rest of your family, I wish I had better advice. Pursue your dreams with gusto.

Hi all! Here's a bit of my background, I'm starting my ADN program in 2 weeks. I already have a bachelors degree, from 8 years ago. My main hurdle is a weak GPA, undergrad was a 2.9, which is not representative of my abilities at all. I have no human medical experience yet. I have already stared orientation to volunteer at a hospital on a L&D floor, but in a patient services role, not in a medical capacity at this point. My ideal goal would be in a part-time Master's degree in a CNM program right after graduation, while working as an RN. Please keep in mind, that I don't know how realistic all of this is yet, as I am new to my research. I want to get experience to help get into a program, but mostly to solidify that yes this feels like home to me. Do think it would be worth it to take a five day course during a school break to become a midwife assistant, and work part-time as one if I can handed all of it? Any feedback or advice is certainly appreciated. Thank you :)

I don't think the specific pb cuff matters, ask at orientation to be sure. I would say make sure you get a large cuff? I have a regular LL Bean backpack already, but maybe one with wheels for our heavy books? Two weeks before orientation, crazy!

Ok, we can figure something out. Don't forget Monday is our last day to register, that's what MB told me. Of course I went to pay and the amount they told me I needed to hold my classes was wrong I'm praying they won't drop my class, I have to call to be sure. I want night clinicals too :)

It would be nice to somehow actually physically say hi on Thurdsay. Although, there's a lot of us in one room :) Do you think you will sign up for day or night clinicals?

I75 is for gateway only. I know it sounds crazy that each school has such a big list, I bet almost no one gets called for their 2nd choice. 10 to 15 years ago they virtually had no wait lists or short ones, so people got pulled to their 2nd choice school.

Cost wise go with Gateway. Where do you live? I have heard good and bad about both programs. I only applied to Gateway, due to cost. Gateway does have really good professors, my friend loves Bridgeport nursing school. It's hard to decide. The thing with a CC college is that they can call us up until the day before class starts.

It's so weird that you are 19, there must be a bigger spread in Teas score. Because I thought you would be higher than me, it really just shows how CLOSE the applicants are. In any case, your hard work has paid off

Check back every month or so, they keep adding new dates. I know they offer a lot during the fall and spring semesters, I am not sure about summer though. Good luck!

Any advice on this would be so appreciated. I was waitlisted at Gateway. A CC college is really my only option due to finances. My teas score 76, is pretty good i think. I could retake it again, but I find I can't get any higher. My A&P I grade was an A-, so that's good. My GPA is what got me I think. It have a 3.42, which seemed good, but not good enough. If I take one of my sciences over and English 102, (which I need anyways). I can bring it up to a 3.64, but only if I get A's. I have very limited money and no human medical experience. Is it better to take a gamble on retaking those classes, with the possibility of getting A's? Or is it better spent getting a CNA license so I can direct patient care experience? I got waitlisted at Gateway I have 3.43 GPA, 76.3 TEAS, and A- A&P I grade. I have no idea what my # will be. Fellow Gateway waitlisters, good luck! It's certainly a good program, and worthwhile. I think if you are in the top 10 you have a good chance of going. I may try to volunteer at a hospital to gain experience.

Congrats to all who will get in! But how on earth will you pay for school, $60,000+, and living expenses? I would have applied to a program like this, but didn't strictly due to costs did not. I know this program is competitive so there is a good chance I might not have gotten in. Thanks for any info.
