  1. I wouldn't see anything wrong w/it. Just don't share the info w/other patients. (I.E., telling patient in room 205 that the patient in room 207 has a WBC of 150k and prob has an infection) why couldn't the student that is helping you find the lab values for his/herself? Why do you have to take a picture of them?
  2. Thank you, I know if you're as stressed as I am, the last thing you need is immature people poking fun at you for how you feel. Ignore these people, if they are going to make fun of someone for stating how they feel, imagine how they will treat their patients in the hospital....just a thought :)
  3. yeah, that's ridiculous. sounds like they have nothing better to do with themselves. My teachers would care less about what some random person posted on an even more random website :) haha
  4. Be nice, I don't know if you're in school or not, but nursing school does crazy things to you. The last thing the poor girl needs is people making fun of her and calling her "weird" and making rude comments about what she writes. She's just venting about how she feels, let her vent. :) Practice some of that "therapeutic communication" that comes w/nursing. A biiiig part of therapeutic communication is being non-judgmental. :) Just a thought!
  5. I go to school full time and I don't work. I don't see anything wrong with it, I get my experience from clinicals (I'm assuming every nursing school has clinicals you MUST attend!) Listen, if you don't have to work, it'd be silly to work. Focus all your time and energy into school to learn as much as possible. That's my philosophy, anyway. Plus, whenever you precept (again, assuming every school precepts) there's a good chance you'll get hired on after you graduate (oh, what a glorious day that will be!!!! :yeah:)
  6. I dont see anything wrong with it as long as you didn't use any names or anything, I personally don't think that what you do away from school is any of their business...
  7. my school is very against the cloth covers for steths---it can harbor bacteria, big time! :) I put a name tag on mine, it's plastic and has a little nurse on it and a blank side to write my name on. I wrote it in BLACK sharpie so it can't rub off :) I've used mine about six months and haven't had it break off yet. I paid about 4 bucks for it, as opposed to 20 or something for engraving. Just a thought
  8. i am going through the same thing--the guy I sort of am seeing asks me to hang out ALLLLL the time, and 9 times outta 10, I cant. Hes not even IN school! I'd say cut the ties, unless she can handle your load. Why don't you show her some of the things you have to do, so maybe shell understand?
  9. she can want to be a nurse, and not get along with her instructor. That could just be a difference in personalities. Don't shatter her dreams. I have a tough professor---she sent a gal home today because she didn't have her name badge with her! You just have to toughen up. Try to get along w/the teacher, even if you have some differences between the two of you. Good luck!
  10. no problem, sister! :)
  11. I agree with everyone else, except for cheating the system! Lol. I'd take the LPN, and then later go for RN, that way you're providing for your daughter and can have some experience under your belt. You sound like me with the parents--I am blessed that my parents have allowed me to quit my job and are supporting me 100% financially and emotionally while I go straight through and get my RN. Just make sure you're going to school because you WANT to be a nurse--nursing isn't for everyone, and noone wants a nurse that doesn't genuinely care about them, and is just in it "because it pays well" :)
  12. my school was strict, too. I took Human Growth and Development....Not to sound like a brat, but if they didnt want you to take the class, they wouldn't have made it one of the pre-reqs
  13. that iPod thing is neat! Do your teachers use any type of mechanism to record their lectures and post them online? For instance, our teachers use Tegrity...and tegrity offers an iPod app that I DL'd to my iPod touch and I can listen to them anywhere I go, as long as I have wi-fi. Might wanna call your school's IT dept and ask them about that!
  14. that post about making a germ-x moustache made me laugh out loud!! Haha!!! but back to the Vicks--I have had 4 different RNs tell me that does the trick. Maybe you should try that. I am blessed with a VERY faint sense of smell. Seriously---a skunk could come and spray the room I am in right now and I wouldn't smell a bloomin' thing! Haha!
  15. we are going over heart and lung sounds as well right now. I dont know why a teacher would teach you something and then say, "You'll never need this". What did you have trouble with? Did you just not know how to perform the tests correctly? I struggle with the heart, but I have went back to my old A&P books and am re-teaching myself. If you REALLY want to be an RN like I do, you won't give up. You can't let one bomb put you down--I bombed my first Health Assessment test two weeks ago, and I cried like a baby, but I didnt let it stop me. You just have to keep on and keep telling yourself that YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!
