  1. Hey! I emailed Ms. D and HR, and she told me to not freak out that I wasn't starting with everyone. She said they are checking daily for my results, and will call me about my start date. May I ask how everything is going? Is there 7 of you guys? What unit are you on? Do you feel like it is a good program?
  2. I haven't been told anything. Ms. D told me to keep in touch with her, but my drug screen still hasn't cleared. If we HAVE to start Monday, I don't think I will make it even if I get my official letter by tomorrow. I don't know if I can drive non-stop for that long, as I am coming from CA. I hear there is a 6-week orientation, then after we would have our own patient load. Hopefully they can accommodate a late arrival, because I feel like I would get my official letter next week, which would run into the orientation period . Did they already tell you where/when to meet Monday?
  3. I have not been able to contact Ms. D about my drug screen, so I just called the VA where I am and set it up myself. My appointment is Friday. This is a mess on my end. It would have been nice to have had a checklist, cause I had no idea I was missing this! I really hope everything clears for me by the start date, because I am packing my stuff and heading east next Thursday:dead:; I have a 40-hr car ride. I was looking at extended stay places around the area, and boy.. they are quite expensive. I hope you are able to find a nice place in a nice location until a more permanent solution comes up!
  4. Congrats! I got an email saying they are waiting for my drug screen to clear, thing is I never had a drug screen ordered, did you? I only had titers drawn. I am waiting for a call-back from Ms. D to confirm, I am really worried now. She said I should be there by 09/20, so I am guessing the start date is that week. Did you get any new information about the start date in your official acceptance letter? I am planning to stay with a family member in VA until I find a place of my own.
  5. Hi! So was able to get my physical last Wednesday.. for some reason they were transferring my documents to TX VA, so got that squared away on Monday to make sure everything is going to DC. The office said that my physical should clear by this Friday. So I'm hoping to get the official acceptance soon after this friday. I understand that the job posting said no relocation expenses given, but do you know if the VA would offer it? I understand you live pretty far, and there is another person coming from CO as well. Also, I havent been to DC in years. How do you feel about living in/around the area?
  6. She was not happy that I hadn't gotten my physical yet. Had to explain that HR was giving me the run-around. She set everything up in 30 minutes, and said if I had anymore trouble to not hesitate to contact her. *pheww* Things are finally moving!
  7. Thanks so much! Yes, I was thinking I should contact her again. Will give her a call tomorrow; I hope she doesn't tell me to contact HR.. LOL. I think we should get our official offers by the end of the month. Hopefully we start mid-September latest
  8. I ask because the VA in my city won't give me a physical unless the VA in DC sponsors me. I keep getting the run-around from Mr. Service in HR. Who did you talk to at the DC VA to give you a courtesy occupational health physical?
  9. Are you getting your physical done at the DC location?
  10. Thanks for the insight!! Please update us about how your first day went. Also what city do you live in? I will be moving
  11. Me too! Im looking to live somewhere in Virginia. They said the start date would be latest in early September.. but it seems like it will hit either mid-late Sept
  12. Hey biopsychmajor! Sorry just saw your response. No official acceptance yet. I still need to do my physical, and badge. There was a huge delay in them receiving some of my forms, so they just got them yesterday. And my references from vetpro have not been cleared yet (we need 3 references to go through!).
  13. Hi! So glad you responded! I had my initial interviews in late June. Early July had my main interview, and go a tentative offer the following week. I have done my fingerprinting, and vet pro and sent some forms.. Still need to set up my physical and badge, but its been difficult because I constantly need a sponsor from the closest VA to me to be in contact with the DC VA to get everything in order, as I am from out of state. How far in are you in getting everything done? I am very anxious to get a start date.. And haven't heard anything in regards to that yet. Also do you know if we will be caring for our own pts, even though it is a new grad program. Would love to know your thoughts! 😄😄
  14. Hi there! I was accepted into the new grad RN residency at the VA Washington DC, set to start late August/early September. I am interested in connecting with those that have also been accepted or are currently in their 1 year program. Please say hello! Would love to hear about your experiences and backgrounds! :):):)
  15. In clinical, we are allowed to share our secondary patients and thus share the workload. Can we share patient information to one another by taking a photo of, say, the lab values of our patient? In this way we are only sharing (taking photos) of values that we have written on our care plan and NOT taking photos of the patients medical record in any way. Any insight would be helpful! Thanks
