What about students who transferred into Excelsior but not LPN or EMT or Medic?

How did you study for Transitions?

Thanks for all of the well wishes for my mom and myself as well. She is going to have a TEE tomorrow to see if there are any blood clots in her heart. My mom is a strong lady but I know she gets tired at time, mentally. She survived and was able to gain almost all of fine motor skills 12 years ago when I was told if she survived, she would be in a vegetative state. Thanks again. This is why I like Excelsior: the support from you, the ability to reschedule exams without having to beg an instructor, and the ability to take time off when needed; and I am in a state where it is not supported, GA.

Having to postpone LS2 again. Yesterday, Mom had a TIA. Since she had a TIA and then massive stroke, which resulted in partial removal of her brain due to swelling almost 12 years ago, I did not know what would be the ending resulting. On yesterday morning when I went downstairs to check on her, she was talking gibberish. I knew that this was a sign of stroke. She is doing better this morning. I am hoping to take LS2 on next Saturday, 1/29.

I'm still struggling with LS2! I have rescheduled LS2 and Transitions so many times that Pearson Vue is going to lock my account. I am scheduled for LS2 on Monday, Jan. 29. Why is it that my ER system is having problems every night this week, so this has knocked out my studying time? I am going to try my best to take LS2 on Monday!!! Let's keep it going!

Tasha, You are leaving me in the wind. I saw another post where you did the practice exam for LS3!! Well, I have rescheduled LS2 for 1/7 and Transitions for 1/14. I have been studying for LS2 on and off for several weeks. I just need to finish and take those practice exams.

I have to say that I am glad that we have Excelsior due to unexpected life events, like moving to another state to take care of my mom who help was failing; working full time; and just life period! Ok. I am about to hit the books. It will be challenging since I am doing grandma duty with an active 5 year old. I will keep you posted.

I have been lazy the whole month of December. I have LS2, LS3, and Transition. My goals was to finished LS2 & Transition by 12/31, and LS3 in January. I have to get off my lard and get back to it. I was right behind Tasha, now she has left me in the wind!!!

Congrats! I have been delaying this until next week. I went on cruise last week and did not want to have a terrible cruise in case I was unsuccessful!

Congrats! Did you ask for Grady? I live in the Metro Atlanta area. I actually work at one of the testing sites in another department. How long did you have to wait for between applying and attending? Again, congrats!

Anyone studying Life Span 2???

I am in the program and to give you a little more insight: the nursing theory exams are self-study, self-paced. However, you can sign up for a 8 week online course if you feel that you would do better that way. I have not signed up for any of the online course. I have been studying and taking the exams at Pearson Vue. I normally time about 2-3 weeks to study for an exam because I work full time in healthcare technology. However, when I decided I wanted/needed to take a break to move home to take care of my mom and other things, I have been able to do it without being kicked out of school. While I am studying, I go ahead and pay for the exam, cost is $250 per exam right now. I sign up for a date on Pearson Vue because the area I am in fills up really fast. For example, I had to wait to get a date in Dec because both testing centers were booked all Dec. Once you pay for the exam, you have 6 months to take it. One good thing I like, if I am not ready to take an exam and I have already signed up for a date, I can reschedule before 24 hours before the exam and I am not penalized or have to pay extra money to reschedule. I do it all online. Also, I have been taking the practice exams, which cost $65 each. You receive two forms, which has 100 questions each. You are given 2 hours to complete each exam. I normally take one right after I finish studying the material and then take the 2nd one after I review the areas I am weak in, normally a few days before my exam. Right now, I have 3 exams left to complete. Once you complete the theory exams, you will receive a paper copy of the FCCA. You have to do assessments of patients and other material. I have not concentrated on the information yet because I have 3 exams left before receiving it. Once you mail FCCA back and passes it, you are eligible to take the 3 day clinical, CPNE, if you are within 10 hours of completing your other requirements. I can not commend on other requirements because I did not have to take any other than information literacy. I have a few undergrad and grad degrees so they had loads of courses to choose from. I hope this helps some.

I used to work for a consortium of colleges and universities as their technology manager. When I had to register their internet site, I was told that all bona fide colleges/universities had internet extension .edu not .com. Also, in looking at the website you provided, I looked up their accreditation. I did not see the accreditation that nursing programs must have in order for their students to be able to seat for the NCLEX. Please check this out. It is very expensive and I am not sure it will has the right accreditation.

Who's studying for LS2? What are you using to study for the exam? When are you taking the exam? Right now, I am scheduled to take it 12/11. I have the recommended mental health and med surg book. I have NCLEX flashcards, NCLEX book, 4x6 index cards. I have not decided if I am going to purchase SG101.

Tasha, You can do this! I made 57% and 61% on practice exams and I passed the exam last week.

If you are needing to take exams to complete the ADN, you study on self-pace. So, if you need to take 3 weeks or 3 months to study for an exam, it is up to you. Just remember that once you pay the exam, you have 6 months to take it; 90 days to take practice exam once you pay for it. Hope this helps.

I did but I had completed everything except for 1 class of a BSN. It might be tight for you. As an estimate, count all of the required clinical courses required for the program you were in and then add up the clinical courses you have completed. Did you complete 50%?

Thanks for the helpful hints. I did a little studying on LS2 this weekend. In the past, I have used SG 101 and sometimes Lisa and Saunder's NCLEX and Mosby's flashcard but have not used TCN. I am wanting to do a lot better on the exam. I think I need to be more organized and I like your idea of what you are doing with putting the information on the front and back pages.
