  1. What a wonderful post! ?
  2. I worked as a nursing assistant while in nursing school and understand the work. It is hard, physically work but I left every morning at 7:00 am. Now as a RN I work with some good NA's and one older very lazy NA that I'm about to lose patience with, I physically do most of her work for her and still have to remind her to do the little things. All I can say is I left work this morning at 7:45 am and my nursing assistant left at 7:00. I have never seen an NA or CNA stay a second pass 7:00, they want us to help them with there job but they can't stay late and help us with ours!
  3. I totally agree!!! What is the point in this "venting" post. I'm proud to be a technology advanced, smart, aggressive new grad full of compassion.. So If I can log online and use a trick to see if I passed NCLEX to help me sleep at night - more power to me and the rest of the new grads!!!
  4. I took NCLEX Monday (July 15th) had the good pop up and BON updated their website today with my new license number!!! So excited, I also had all 265 questions.. So the trick works!
  5. How did it take for the AR BON to approve?
  6. Can either one of you tell me know long it took to get your license when you have something on your background check. I answered yes on application and have already sent in all my info. Mine was a misdemeanor for a small hot check 9 years ago, seen my record had been sealed. But still wondered how long it took.
  7. I was pinned on May 17th and it is an awesome feeling to be done with nursing school. Congrats all 2013 grads and all others your time will be here before you know it!!
  8. I did nothing over spring break and I'm playing catch up this week and it sucks... But boy I sure did enjoy sleeping in and hanging out with my kids :)
  9. If you make below a 78%, you're out. You can reapply to get back in the program once. But then again you have to wait a year and re-test.
  10. Me too!!! Graduate May 18th!
  11. That pay is weekend with shift diff, I have a friend that works in the area. She said average was around 28 with experience.
  12. I would expect that area of Arkansas for 10 years experience that you will probably start around $35 hr. I know that one of the big hospitals in little rock starts new grads at $25 hr. And that area of Arkansas is pretty comparable to LR economic wise, if not better.
  13. This is perfect advice, I also have 3 children and I only have one more semester left and that's how I got this far. Good luck and don't give up!!'
  14. First semester has been the hardest for me not so much the content but the time management. All the reading, studying, clincial paperwork - care plans, and just overall adjusting. As you progress the content becomes more difficult but you learn how and what to study and things be a easier.
  15. I'm in my next to last semster and currently in my OB rotation and we have three test and a final. 65 pt test, 55 pt test, 65 pt test, and 70 pt final. Must have a 78% to pass, if you fail one class your out of the program. We started with 200 and are now around 80 - we will probably graduate around 70. I can't wait to be done with nursing school!!!!!
  16. My husband work from 8:00 - 4:30 and suffers while using most of his income to pay our bill (his words not mine). I work part-time, take care of three kids 12, 8, & 3, go to nursing school full-time, do all the grocery shopping, clean house, all the laundry, and cook all meals. My husband does what he wants on the weekends and doesn't understand why I'm stressed to the max. Now it's deer season he'll be gone every weekend for the next month. I'm counting down the months till May and I'm so over my husband right now..
  17. Wow!! You are very lucky - best of luck with nursing school!!
  18. The hard thing about nursing school is figuring out what is important and how to apply what you learned. Read your text book!!! NCLEX review books to review the material you read. Download apps with practice questions so you can quiz yourself often - helps you realize what you know and what you don't know and what is important.
  19. I was 4.0 student entering my nursing program I made C's and B's don't have time to stress over A's. With that being said my C's were 82% & 83% in some program this would be considered B's. I usually blow our end of course Evolve out of the water with scores over 1000. So that let's me know I have the knowledge to pass NCLEX. I can bring up my GPA after I complete my ASN and enter my school's BSN program.. C=Continue!!
  20. May 2013!!! I'm in Peds right now with just a couple weeks left then OB. Last semester is critical care.. Starting to get excited!!
