  1. Congrats Matthias!
  2. The best bet on how to get through the SATA is to treat each answer if it was a True or False. Only look at one answer at a time. If you look at all the answers at once it will just confuse you.
  3. I only got 5-10 SATA. I passed with 75 questions. However, some of my classmates got 35-40 questions out of 75. So it is random on which style test you get and what topics are covered. You should be prepared to get those type of questions just in case. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
  4. I don't think that the number of questions means anything. I had three classmates (that I know of) whose test shut off at 183, 136 and 190 questions. Did you try the PVT? Try it and you will know if you passed. Good luck.
  5. Relax. Every NCLEX test is different for each person. I barely had 5-10 SATA, whereas some of my classmates had 20-35 of them! I passed with 75 questions. You can get other higher level questions that require analytical thinking requiring you to bring in many different aspects of knowledge from your nursing school classes. Take each question one at a time, don't stress out if it feels like you don't know the answer...just don't rush it. If it does not shut off at 75, don't freak...as long as it is giving you questions...you are still are taking the test. Don't let yourself be frazzled and let this test screw with your head (It can do that really easy!). Good luck and let us know.
  6. Thank you both sharpeimom and GitanoRN. It has been hard on all of us, but one good thing has come out of this. Prior to this my father and I were estranged for over 6 years. We have reconnected and are speaking again. There is still a lot of work to do on both sides, but at least there is some good coming from this. I have told my family about all the warm thoughts and prayers from this community, my former classmates and former nursing instructors. Thank you all.
  7. I know how you feel. I had one of the most emotionally stressfull weeks of my life this past week (with my little brother killing himself r/t schizophrenia). It was so hard to concentrate to study/review etc. I was so out of it I forgot to print off my ATT letter, thankfully another office was open and a sweet lady allowed me to use her computer to print it out so I got to sit on time (phew). So I was at question 30 and realized that I had not gotten any SATA questions at all yet. I freaked out for a minute or so wondering if I was just bombing the exam. All in all I had a total of just 6-8 SATA. I just kept going one question at a time and when I hit "next" on #75 it shut off. The PVT trick says I passed. So best of luck. Focus, relax and you can do this! GL and let us know.
  8. Wow, that was a quick turn around! I keep checking and the PVT pop up is still there. Hopefully SCBON gets my # quick!
  9. It was hard as heck! I didn't count how many SATA I had, but I know I had more than 5 and less than 10. That sort of freaked me out b/c I kept on thinking that I was not going to pass b/c I was not getting a lot of them. Thanks JRich. Still waiting for the official results though!
  10. Just got home from the testing center. 75 questions and it shut off. I got the good pop up from the website. So it looks like I passed! I can put RN after BSN now! Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!
  11. Congrats JRich. I know that is a huge relief off of your shoulders...T-minus 11 hours for me now.
  12. Short update. My little brother just started hearing voices about 3 months or so ago. Unfortunately they were command hallucinations and he was able to function and keep himself out of being involun committed. While that is very tragic and very sad, it makes it easier for me to deal with it and be mad at the disease and not at him. On another note, by this time tomorrow I will have taken my NCLEX and should be able to do the PVT to find out my results. 2 of my ABSN classmates are taking it with me as well. If you could keep me in your thoughts and prayers today and tomorrow (especially tonight for a good nights sleep)...I would appreciate it. I will update here as soon as I know! Thank you all.
  13. Good luck friend!
  14. Thank you everyone. Every little bit helps. I wish I could reschedule...but June is almost all booked up and I am supposed to start my position on 6/18. Not much I can do except multi-task here and focus. His note that he left actually is of some small help. I will keep everyone updated with NCLEX results...look for it around 11am or so on the 5th. Hopefully I will know before then.
  15. Well, I just found out about an hour ago that my little brother killed himself this morning. I am a total loss of what to do....
  16. Thank you. That priority rule will help!
  17. Thank you for the advice. I will keep that in mind. I will treat it just like I have the practice exams. Sometimes I catch myself waivering on some questions (either reading too much into them or just plain stuck and have it down to 50/50), but those are just a few (and account for nearly all the ones I miss). Thanks to everyone for the advice...back to review now.
  18. I hope this works for you, but for me that is just too much information. I would just gladly remember the low-high for each. There are not that many to memorize and from what I have heard NCLEX is just going to throw you an obviously high/low number. Oh and welcome to allnurses.com!
  19. Pretty much the same here!
  20. Good Luck JRich! I will definately keep Aunt Marlene in my head!
  21. @WeirdNurse, Thank you. That is what I keep telling myself (though I am breaking out in stress pimples at 40!). I keep saying "Take it slow and sure", "Don't rush yourself", "Look for the question and ignore the distractions." Many of the threads I have read on here have given me strength throughout the year of my ABSN. I just did not have much spare time to post (given the hectic schedule). :)
  22. Okay, after 1 very intense year of study through an ABSN program I graduated on 5/3/12 and am taking my boards in several days. I have taken two of the "Hurst Q-Review" tests and scored 76% (95 out of 125 questions) on them both. I am trying to study at least 4 hours a day and then taking the next day to do a Hurst Q-Review test (I have 4 left of the orginal 6). Taking the entire day off before the exam and resting my brain. I have stopped doing the NCLEX-4000 due to having done so many of them that I recognize the majority of the questions I get. I plan on getting a good nights sleep and a good protein breakfast the morning of the exam. I don't know if there is much more I can do but to review the HURST materials, take those other practice Q tests and pray. The really good news is that I already have a position offered and accepted (Cardiac Floor), so that stress is gone at least. I will post here as soon as I know (well, after I tell my wife!) how I did etc. Just posting to vent a bit and give back to the community since I have been mostly lurking for awhile now. I know most of the classmates that have already taken it (and all of them passed so far) have said they thought they failed when they walked out. However, the PVT trick worked for all of them. One girl (who always finished taking tests very, very fast) finished hers in 30 minutes (75 questions)...she passed. I have no idea how she does it. My wife told me "don't try to do that" I just gave her my "Are you F#####g joking or just crazy?" look. We can do this! Think ABCs, Safety, Worst case scenario, "The NCLEX testers did not send you into that patient's room to report that everything is okay and do nothing." Sending prayers, thoughts, love and hugs to everyone out there...
  23. Ah, okay. So they were stating that you were going to have sex with the baby. That is a huge relief. Sex before birth won't hurt the baby. Okay. Still inappropriate, just not as nearly as inappropriate as before. Still be very careful my friend. I have had it happen to me, and seen it happen to others...everything is fine as long as everyone gets along...as soon as someone falls out of favor (you)...then they will use everything you have said (doesn't matter if they laughed, or if they started the conversation) against you...and you have to defend why you just didn't walk away.
  24. I guess this should be a reminder for all of us males out there. I have had some experience like this as well (with race and gender issues). I had known this co-worker and worked well with her for over a year. We went out to lunch with others at least once or twice a month. No problems. All of a sudden I get put in a position where I am promoted ahead of her and I am accused of inappropriate racial and gender remarks? I was infuriated. I told the manager who accused me that I was not saying another word until HR was on the phone or there in person. Once the HR person was called, I told them that I had the right to defend myself against these alligations and I wanted a list of specific dates, times, quotes and other people present. The HR rep agreed that people could not just sling accusations around without presenting proof and that the manager should have gathered this information before confronting me. Needless to say all of the accusations were false and the only thing she could come up with was that I asked her (after she had cut her hair short and come back in a week later with it long again) if she had a wig or weave on? When I was going to be brought up on charges of inappropriate racial comments on that alone, I asked how that was inappropriate if I wasn't the only one who asked her that question? My manager in question and at least 3 other people (all white males) had asked her that question (before me!). After that little tid-bit of information came to light...everything was dropped. Of course nothing happened to the person who made these charges. About 2 weeks later I gave my 2 week notice (blindsided the execs who were counting on my presence to train several people (including the accuser) on a very important skill (for which they had no one local to replace me and had to fly someone in from Flordia (to NC) to do the training over 4 weeks). That is when I took my career break and decided to follow my dream and become a nurse. Needless to say, I learned a VERY valuable lesson over the course of a few days. It all seems impossible to happen...until it happens to you and you are being accused of being a sexist, racist and bigoted man. I was told that I was intimidating due to my height (like I can control that), my sex (again, what can I do about that) and my former military background (b/c I like to wear my hair short still). Take note of this men...you don't need to be cold at work...but please just be careful!
  25. Wow, that last part scared the crap out of me. I can't believe you couldn't just point to your schedule and say "I was never in the hospital when she was and I was out of town (here is my gas receipt etc) when the alleged assault took place." I am not sure how I would have handled that situation after that. I think I would have had a hard time working with that Nurse Manager again. If someone is so idiotitc to go to those lengths...to where you are guilty until beyond proven innocent. Again, I applaud your level headedness in that kind of situation.
