  1. Would you recommend OR Nursing?

Would you recommend OR nursing? How's the future outlook? Do scrub and circulating RNs get paid differently? The reason I'm asking is because I'm considering a switch (I'm a rather new nurse who may have an opportunity to become a circulating RN). ...
  2. Corrections/agency or Med Surg/staff?

Does working corrections make it difficult to get back into the hospital later? I'm considering working corrections as an agency nurse (as it pays well/better than hospital staff) in order to pay off debt faster. What do you think?

  4. Corrections/agency or Med Surg/staff?

Does working corrections make it difficult to get back into the hospital later? I'm considering working corrections as an agency nurse (as it pays well/better than hospital staff) in order to pay off debt faster. What do you think?
  5. Would you recommend OR Nursing?

Do the OR nurses administer blood/products? Or is that only the scrub nurses? thanks
  6. Would you recommend OR Nursing?

oh funny! My heart is warm but my body is sensitive to cold (unless I'm moving a lot)
  7. Recommend OR Nursing?

    thanks - good suggestions!
  8. What are the most requested type of RNs?

ER, ICU, OR? How about Med Surg - would it be easy for a nurse with 1 year of med surg experience to find a traveling position? Thanks.
  9. Getting a Boost Because You Are A Minority

No, my school only took the top scores on the TEAS test.
  10. Question about men in labor/delivery and nursery.

This is coming from a male - a male RN is probably not a good fit for L&D for many reasons - primarily it makes many women (and their significant others) uncomfortable. perhaps try NICU or peds.
  11. jehovahs witness- refusing to..

Additionally, sometimes people confuse Jehovah's Witnesses with other denominations (like "Christian Scientists") who just believe in prayers to heal everything. FYI - if a jehovah's witness comes to the hospital, they are seeking treatment. of co...
  12. jehovahs witness- refusing to..

Yes, sounds like a translation issue (clearly not a Jehovah Witness issue). Doesn't your ER have access to translators?
  13. Young new male nurse concerns

you can find that info from informational interviews (which you have to do yourself)
  14. Can Male RNs get jobs in Maternity Nursing?

Agreed with Table for 9 - plus I personally don't think males should be in L&D. It makes most of the female patients (particularly their male counterparts) uncomfortable.
  15. Career Advice Required, New RN, BScN Leaving the Profession

best wishes with your career endeavors - you may need to do more research - informational interviews specifically. BTW, law - especially in front of a judge/jury can be extremely subjective despite the best evidence. . .
  16. instructor says nursing is not for me..

Since you're in nursing school and under the "rules" of your school and particularly your clinical instructor, then you have to abide by them. and show them that you can do it. It's taking a personal interest in others like you would to a friend -...
  17. Male nurses student and skipping OB/L&D clinicals

First things first - you have to get into nursing school first before you can even begin to make any concessions with nursing curriculum
  18. This has been bothering me...

Since you're a student, you have to abide both by the facility's policy and your school's. With that note, perhaps you can ask your instructor if simply following the (female) RN would suffice as opposed to getting another female student to go in wi...
  19. Stereotyped...and not sure what I should do

Then show them that you don't fall in with the "stereotype". Prove them wrong. Also, perhaps they are talking about the men in their lives (apart from nursing)
  20. Do men really have a better shot at finding a job?

People will always have opinions however, it seems like you'll find the answer out yourself soon enough. In our hospital, it's the person, skills, and experience that count over gender.
  21. Which online RN-BSN program would you recommend while working full time? preferably without clinicals. I'm NOT going to pursue MN/PhD. I may consider the local college as well since I prefer human interaction but certain online programs may be mo...
  22. Are you man Enough to be a OB nurse?

it's NOT about being "man enough" - it's about empathy - and most mothers (and probably their husbands too) prefer having females with their OB needs. plus, there's enough perverts in the world - we wouldn't want to be associated with anything close
  23. What makes a good tech?

agreed with above - you should ALWAYS report things that do not "seem" right - vitals, patient's appearances or acting strange (or the family acting strangely) . . . don't fret about it - you probably learned these things in nursing school. Don't be...
  24. Help I think the charge nurse wants me out

Agreed with the above with one addition - I would simply try to work it out between you and the charge nurse FIRST (as you are the new employee - although that's NOT an excuse, plus it builds your character if you can work things out.) And then, if ...
  25. NOW how does it feel???

We have the opposite problem at our work - our nurses (both younger/older nurses and male/female) clean up and adjust their patients but for some reason litter the nurses station/computers with their drinks/empty coffee cups! i agree with the comme...
