Have any of you done the online version? i am looking into it, but not sure if the same problems are going to exist, especially if i am in another state. Is it worth it to try this online? or just do like a phenix university rout

Starting January 2012 at PMCI for LVN
Hey Cax, I went through their LVN program because i heard all the rumours about the 3 year wait list that the community collages have. I got my license and did my prereques. Made an appointment to see a councillor and he said literally, great you start in 3 months. no wait list, no drama. All the collages are going to the point system and the easiest way to get past all that drama is the LVN. Were you looking at Moorpark or Ventura? Can i suggest Santa Barbra? Moorpark and Ventura start you in 2nd semester while Santa Barbra starts you in third, so 6 months faster. i am not saying anything and about Ventura (where i went) or Moorpark (where a lot of my friends went). Both are awesome. But Santa Barbra city collage is faster. Good luck! let me know what you decide!

Frustrations on Lvn to Rn bridge programs in Southern CA community colleges
Best advice would be to contact the JC's I went in to Ventura for a counseling appointment in september and they told me that i start second in Jan. Dont listen to the rumors, call the schools =) I also went with a friend to Santa Barbara City college and LVNs there can start their program in third semester. Moorpark has a test that you take coming in as an LVN to determine if you join in second or third. But the problem my friend is having with Moorpark is that your core prereqs must be within 5 years, so she now has to retake math just to apply. Good Luck! Call the schools, get a counseling appointment, it doesn't hurt!!

Anyone in Ventura County?
I am in Venturas RN program, and they kinda warned us that the job market out here is a little hellish right now. There are not a lot of jobs, and a lot of people going for what is available. Your idea of getting your CNA and working is a great one. I got my LVN license and everywhere i applied told me to come back when i had experience. Good luck with the prereqs, you can do it, just have to keep your spirits up!

Welcome to the club! what program are you going for? what college?

Any private LVN school in ventura ?
You may want to recheck the amount of classes you can retake. I know that both Ventura and Moorpark are now on the points system and repeats in the core classes (anatomy, physiology and micro) count against you if you retake more then one. The last time i talked to the Ventura counselors they said they have zero wait list, so hopefully you wont have to go through the LVN program. If you do go the LVN rout you join the class at second semester. You just have to have the prereques finished and keep your LVN license current. Volcomcna- if you are still looking I would look into the LVN program in Westlake, PMCI. They are price, but the clinical instructors are amazing, and their psych instructor is really passionate about it (I hated psych, but she made it livable) Good Luck and let me know what you decide =)

Any private LVN school in ventura ?
Talk to Ventura college, they have no wait list for the RN program, just have your prereques finished. I went to an LVN school in Westlake. Awesome instructors. They have a really nice clinical site at a surgical hospital that is amazing. Their NCLEX pass rate is about 90%. But talk to Ventura, they told me they have no wait list. I am going to start in Jan. I applied in August.

Waiting lists at Ventura College and Moorpark College
I dont know if this will help anyone because its so late. But Moorpark moved to a points system, my friend just got her letter of enrollment before they did that and it took her 2 and a half years. Now its all supposed to be based on your grade and your tease score. Ventura has basically no wait list. I talked to a councilor in Sept took the TEAS in oct and start in Jan. Ventura is talking about going to a points system as well. Hope this helps anyone picking between the two =)

How did you take your prerequisites
Check with whatever school you are taking the prereqs at, they may have prereqs before you can get into those classes, or you may be able to test out of some (hopefully-but wouldn't hold my breath) Basic Bio and Basic chem were prereqs at my school before i could even take anatomy and phys, and definitely before i could take Micro. I took anatomy and phys together, i liked it that way-what one teacher didn't explain that well the other did, but a lot of other people said they are to hard together. so maybe take one of them with the computer class if you are computer savvy Same with the Math if you are a math wiz, then take it with one of the harder classes. basically make 2 columns, one with the subjects you find easy, one for the ones you dont, take one from each column each term, that way your not overwhelmed. Good Luck!

Can you get your RN after a noncredit LPN program?
the LVN school i went to the units were just for them, they didn't mean anything for transfer. my GPA however did, i was talking to one school that was asking for a higher GPA then i had in my transfer units, but had a 3.89 in LVN school so they were more lenient with me then others who didn't have the LVN. ( i wasn't the best student right out of high school) So while the units wont transfer to help you get the RN, the GPA can give you another edge!

Roll Call, LPN to RN Students!!!
Hello everyone! I am 28, and just last week got my letter that i passed the NCLEX-PN!!! i kinda overlapped some prerequisites with the end of LVN school, so this summer all i have to take is Microbio and I am ready to jump on that waiting list and get into an RN program! I have it narrowed down to 3 programs that i am looking into, Moorpark, Ventura and College of the Canyons. All of them have pretty good pass rates on the NCLEX-RN, and all of them are pretty close, i am leaning to COC cause they offer online classes!! I am hoping to work for the VA, i have 3 years already with government so technically in 17 more i can retire, and work someplace awesome like a specialty hospital (cross my fingers for City of Hope, my dream job!) anyone who has survived these programs and has words of wisdom i am all ears. Thanks for checking out who i am ;)

RCC lvn-rn advanced placement
Even if they are impacted i would hope they would have written to you, they should have just have started summer school, i would try calling again. it never hurts to ask different people the same question and see if they all give you the same answer. Or try talking to a counselor. Dont stress, and dont assume that you didn't get in, dont give up on your future so fast! It never hurts to have a back up plan though, so maybe check into other schools in the area. Dont borrow trouble, the school could just be running a little behind because of starting summer school and finishing the Spring semester. Good Luck!

online LPN-RN or LPN-BSN
There is always the college networks program through Indiana state university, but it looks a little pricey for me.
