  1. New in this type of field and just want a general understanding of what I can or cannot perform. Read over the BRN site but it seems open ended still. Situation: My patients POA wanted to have the foley removed because of fear of UTI and because the reason it was in has resolved itself more or less. The story is that the patient went home from the hospital and another nurse was supposed to DC it that weekend (doc knows). Now that nurse decided not to work for them for family reasons and here I am. They want me to DC the foley but theres not an official order and I am just going by what they are saying.. it's not a hospital setting but I do not think this patient needs one indwelling still. Can I just remove it and chart that it was under my own assessment and prevention of disease and the doctor was previously aware?
  2. Even though I should be able to sleep from exhaustion, Im kind of wired on excitement! Congrats!
  3. UPDATE: Woooohoooo!!! CA BRN site updated at 2AM and I am officially a RN! Pearson View Trick works!! Like I said on previous post: It shut me off at 75, came home and got the good PVT!
  4. I'm so anxious I can't sleep. Popped in New Moon lol. I also re-read the pamphlet they gave me leaving the test center and it says "Historically, approximately 85% of first time, U.S. educated candidates pass the NCLEX examination" Makes me feel a bit better.
  5. Sorry to hear that. Waiting is the worst!! Our class sent in applications and our school does the transcripts. Since out apps got there first, they said they needed the transcripts before it could be processed to go take our test. Hope you get your answer soon! ::fingers crossed::
  6. Just a thought... Im in CA and got issued an interim permit (IP). They say it expires if you do indeed fail the test. You would think that the would remove it from the brn website if you did fail nclex right away right?..hmm.. Anywho, I think the brn updates their website around 2:30 in the morning. At least thats what my friend has told me because she kept checking every half hour or so for her license. lol and supposedly if I passed (which the pvt trick said I did) then I should hopefully see mine later tonight. update to follow..
  7. I used Kaplan (awaiting nclex results still). I felt that picking up their tips was very helpful in answering questions such as "dont pass the buck". I also feel parts of their decision tree is good too esp when wondering if the situation needs delegation or implementation. I focused mostly on disease process, pharm, infection control, and delegation type questions. I hear ppl don't get much ob and peds on their exams
  8. Oh my! That is SO difficult. I am sorry to hear that. I will def send a prayer your way. Let us know how it goes.
  9. I would think you could see your name on the board already if you are in CA. 2 of my friends took it last week and week before and took them both 2 business days to see their names on the brn. (they also did the pvt trick and it worked)
  10. I just took my nclex rn. Been home about an hour and tried the PVT. Got a good pop-up. Had 75 questions. 12 SATA and 3 math. YIKES! Didn't feel too confident walking out. So I will let you guys know if it works! Im in CA.
  11. 50% on NCLEX to pass? I thought you just had to keep your head above their passing rate line. Or were you referring to prep test score of 50%?
  12. I just finished Kaplan and in my opinion it has a really good outline to it. They also have a money back guarantee if you fail but you do have to put the effort into the course. They have tons of questions to practice with as well. I think its a good investment. I look at it this way: If i pay for kaplan and I fail the NCLEX, I get a refund for Kaplan and pay another $200 sitting fee. If I dont take Kaplan, I pay the $200 sitting fee if I fail anyways.
  13. I would act as if I was in school. Read the chapter(s) on the class/lecture that will be given so that you can follow along. Have you tried Kaplan?
  14. I've been having a hard time with the Kaplan RN practice questions. From what I've looked up, it seems the Kaplan questions are harder than the NCLEX questions. NCLEX is more straight forward from what I gathered. I received good grades in school as well. GL tomorrow!
  15. Maybe you did pass, you never know! But I think that if you do not pass, they will mail you out what areas you need to study based on your test answers. Stay positive!
