  1. if he is tapping on his chin then how is he restrained? You already posted that you are not there for his surgeries so how do you know at what point in his wake up" he is asking for his mom or that he is not kicking and biting or trying to pull out line or monitors either deliberately or accidentally? I understand communication is important but again you are not there. At some point the parent needs to be a little assertive and relay this to the team members.
  2. It's not like the pill is missing and can't be found. You have the pill so taking it back should not be a big deal. Now if the pill comes up and missing and they drug test you. YOU ARE SCREWED and I would imagine you can waive your license good bye. This should be a no brainer decision but your deceptive attitude makes it appear like you are hiding something or trying to get away with something.
  3. IV heparin has a half life of only 90 minutes. So even if you do give a large bolus it doesn't stick around long.
  4. PM me and I can answer your questions about St. Mary's CRNA Program.
  5. It must be great to want someone to give you their better paying but it doesn't work that way. Try going to night school while working full time. Going to work overseas while leaving the spouse behind to pay for schooling. Put in the long hourse required to accomplish the goals. People see someone making a lot of money and think "must be great making that kind of money" but never contemplate how that person arrived at their current situation or the sacrifices that were made along the way. If you want a nursing job go to school and get the required training and become a nurse. Is it tough when you have other obligations? You bet it is. Is it worth it in the end? It was for me and my family. I've been in the position of living off credit cards and post dating checks to make ends meet. But I worked hard to get where I am and if other people are jealous of the low hours I work and the high amount of money I make TOO BAD. No one is going to take better care of yourself or your family than YOU and to expect otherwise is foolish. If you want it bad enough you can make it happen.
  6. wanting to be a CRNA and becoming a CRNA are two very different things.
  7. In theory the VA is suppose to be used for SERVICE CONNECTED disabilites, not for day to day problems. However, I do know people who use it for non service connected disability all the time and are not on the verge of bankruptcy or in risk of losing their home.
  8. your money would be better spent at a local gambling establishment. There are a lot of these type of organizations that always try and get you to join some sort of "professional" organization.
  9. At what point is the patient responsible for their actions. It's unfortunate that she has pain, but you are dealing with 2 patients. You can't just load these patients up with narcs until they are in a zero pain state. We don't know the full history of the patient was she in labor? Was she just in for some sort of monitoring? Is the pain related to something else? We really don't know. The fact is this is the exact kind of patient that would be the first to sue if something were to happen and they could blame it on someone else.
  10. stadol is not contrindicated and is not solely antagonist. Stadol is both an agonist and antagonist just like nubain. They are not contraindicated but they are probably not the best choices. However they are useful for decreasing respiratory depression in patients receiving mu2 receptor agonists.
  11. I could see a CRNA doing this for financial reasons 100% cash from full payers. Would make a great augment to current practice if you are not in a busy area such as a rural practice or by blocking off an afternoon or two every week for injections.
