  1. Hi all! - I've been working in the ER for almost 2 years now, since I was a new grad. My experience with inpatient hospice and a family member was the reason I became a nurse in the first place and I always thought it was what I wanted to do. I finally decided that it could be time for a change so I applied to the well-known hospice here and they contacted me saying that they have per diem admissions positions available (I'd asked for full-time and ideally thought I wanted to work inpatient). To the hospice admissions RN's: what are your thoughts? Do you like doing this kind of work? What are the pros? What are the drawbacks? Do you find this type of work rewarding? Would you switch to inpatient if you could? I guess I'd never really thought of doing this so I'd like to hear from others who do. Thanks in advance!
  2. preg tests and meal for the road.
  3. I was in finance for 5 years. It was quite a change but I adore nursing and am so glad I made the switch!
  4. Hopefully you'll hear back before then! Enjoy the cruise!
  5. A friend of mine works there and said it took them forever to contact her after she submitted her app. I don't know if that was like a few weeks or what but I'm so curious if they've started interviewing yet.
  6. sella turcica?
  7. These things are so frustrating! How can they determine someone's personality by administering an online test. I did google tips for them once and, among other things, I read that the answers in the middle of the "Strongly Agree/Strongly Disagree" scale are never correct. If I recall, the explanation was that it makes you seem "wishy washy" if you can neither Strongly Agree nor Strongly Disagree. To me, this sounds ridiculous. I did score "unfavorably" on one of these once (that's how the HR person worded it). Evidently, she wanted me to come in for the interview anyway because she asked me to redo it. She didn't tell me what, exactly, I didn't answer favorably and I don't remember what I did differently the second time around but apparently I passed. The trick, I've been told, is to answer truthfully because they can somehow pick up on the fact that you're trying to give the "best" sounding answer. I guess they can ask the same question in a number of ways to throw you off. I think the best thing to do is sit quietly and in a place where you will be uninterrupted so you can think about your answers and answer honestly. Good luck!!!!
  8. haha! Maybe they're not done contacting this time around? :anbd:
  9. awww! I'm sorry. I applied to the one before and did get a rejection email. It went to my spam so maybe yours did too?
  10. Someone in a previous posting mentioned they got a rejection letter already. I haven't gotten one yet but also haven't heard anything at all…
  11. I'm sorry to hear that. I fully expect mine any day now.. I applied to the last one (although it was right before I graduated, I think) and I got a pretty quick rejection. I wonder what they take into consideration.
  12. That's really great to hear! Are you still with them? I'm excited to have been hired into the internship. The only thing that concerns me is that you're not guaranteed a position on the unit you start out with. I guess I have a while to think about that...
  13. You *googled* "logic section NCLEX"? That was a very logical thing to do...
  14. Has anyone heard back yet?
  15. Hi all! Has anyone interviewed for the GN internship at LVHN? I have a group interview scheduled and I'd like to hear about the process from people who have gone through it. What was the group interview format like? What kind of questions were asked? Also, if you've worked at Lehigh Valley as a graduate nurse, what are your thoughts? Thanks in advance :)
  16. Lynn mentioned in her email that she's on vacation next week so it looks like we have to sit tight until the last week of October. Don't be nervous - actually if there were 211 applicants and if not all of them completed their portfolios, I'd say the odds are pretty good! Good luck! :)
  17. Lynn's mass email sent out on October 7th stated, "If you are selected to interview, we will go by the date(s) you indicated on your Questionnaire, and you will receive an invitation toward the end of October."
  18. I applied on the second day that it was up, and I heard back last Thursday. I had my interview today. It was a panel interview with behavioral-based questions. The next phase would be an interview with the nurse manager/s on the unit/s in which the candidate expressed interest. She told me she would be contacting candidates by the end of this month, if not sooner, to let them know if they've been selected for a second interview. I don't know if they are done calling people. Good luck through the process and with your job search!
  19. I applied to this program as well and I'm interested in hearing thoughts on it. Also, does anyone know what they are currently paying new graduates? Thanks in advance!
  20. I'd also like to hear thoughts about the nurse residency program at MLH. I have an interview next week. Thanks in advance!
  21. Totally crossing my fingers for you!!! :) I also applied as soon as the application went up, but at that point I hadn't graduated yet (I graduated 2 weeks later with my BSN and I'm still waiting for ATT from the State Board). I imagine that, coupled with the fact that I'm a Pennsylvania resident and have no ties to Mayo, is the reason I wasn't even in the running. Good luck to you and I'd love to hear updates!
  22. Hi all! Did anyone apply to Mayo's new graduate program a few weeks ago? I haven't heard anything yet so I wondered if anyone else has. :redbeathe
  23. My apologies, guys! After reading a bit on this board I realize that this has been posted a million and one times in different ways. It looks like I shouldn't follow my husband to a job in Vegas; rather, he should follow me to a nursing job - wherever I can find one. LOL. If anyone has any input I'd still love to hear it, but I know you've read this same kind of post over and over so I won't be offended if you ignore it!
