  1. 38 may be too old for your friend, but it doesn't sound too old for you. You have a great support system within your family. If your friend is not supportive of you going back to school, well I think that person is not to much of a friend. Take this into consideration for fueling your desire to becoming a nurse, what were you doing three years ago, sitting in the same chair, same office. Get my point! Take care and good luck with your new career path. ZAHMAN.
  2. New thread material please! ZAHMAN
  3. Thats really unfortunate the way they take advantage of people like you. Instead of telling them NO, tell them you will come in for triple pay and stick to that amount. I bet they will soon realize how important it is to hire more nurses, increase the pay scale or more importantly your time off is to you and your family. Hope things go well. ZAHMAN
  4. Sexual experiences in the ICU. I had a young lady with a cervical injury who was also hypersexual. Well, she rang her call light when her nurse was busy so I went into her room. I asked her what she needed, to my surprise she replied " I want you to F*$# me". With a straight face I replied, "Thats not appropriate". Being quick witted as she was she replied, "Your right, will you make love to me". I had no reply after that, just a good laugh. ZAHMAN
  5. I've been in martial arts for about 24 years and I must admit it has helped me to become more respectful of others, particularly when cultural/religious differences are involved. I also find myself not being as stressed as others in emergency situations. Who knows if that is a result of the martial arts are just being desensitized. ZAHMAN
  6. Hellllllo Nurse, AAAHA, said the blind man to the deaf mute! Well, just fill mine up! ZAHMAN
  7. Amylcd, Having a child at such a young age puts stress on a multitude of support systems, not just government agencies. You have to admit at some time there was alot of stress due to your young age. Please do not take offense because, I am in no way trying to demoralizing you, infact I am applauding you for becoming a responsible adult. Hellllllo Nurse, The bedpan is not half-full nor is it half-empty, rather it is just FOS. ZAHMAN
  8. Sorry to disagree with you, but a teen who has to depend on their family, regardless of the support system, is a drain on the system. The family support system. Mom/Dad (Teens parents, if still together) will have to adjust their lifes, financially, and emotionally to help their teenager raise a child. With an adjustment to the family dynamics comes stress. This undue stress is then circumvented in some manner to family members and extended family members, thus becoming a drain on the system. So as you can see, the BIG Picture is not always clear. 10. You have not done your homework! ZAHMAN

  12. AndreaJ While your posts may be alittle directional in your thoughts, it is unfortunate that some people will take advantage of that and take the oppertunity to dismantle your feelings. These people have turned out to be like their predecessors, that is unfortunate. Keep your head up, ask well informed questions, and keep striving to do your best. Eventually your path will become clear. ZAHMAN
  13. Florida, Nebraska, Tennessee, Virginia, CNA, LPN, RN, AA, CRNA, Midwife, Cosmosurg, Laser Nurse. It's ok to have goals, but you also need to have a focus. My suggestion to you would be to live life alittle, get some experience and then decide what you want to do. I can understand that you would like a career that pays well, we all do. Just have some discretion in how you present your posts. ZAHMAN
  14. Don, They got us by the privates. I need to refinance my house and pull out some equity to fund my living expenses. Fortunatly my wife will still be able to afford the mortgage while I'm in school. (If I ever get accepted) The situation is painfull because I don't want to apply for a second on my house untill I know for certain that I'm accepted, but intrest rates are going into the toilet. I spoke with the school inregards to this, their reply was "SORRY, I CAN'T TELL YOU WHERE YOU ARE ON THE LIST. JUST HANG IN THERE!." What a pain in the kiester. Well I'll just go and soak my privates and just hang in there. ZAHMAN
