  1. It's a beautiful facility. It's a community hospital, not a trauma center.....anything complex is usually flown out. The new ED and Peds unit still seem to be ironing out the glitches of it's recent move and remodel. They have great tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs. Raises and 401K contributions have been reinstated but it was a total slap in the face to take them away in order to pay for a $420 million expansion, morale was in the toilet then but things seem to be looking up. Annapolis is a great place to live, 30 mins from DC and Balto, about 2hrs from the beach. PM me if you need more info, I've worked there for many years.
  2. Average Costs – U.S. • 40 mg/4 ml vial for injection (generic) ALS Service cost: $1.42 each Large Hospital cost: $0.65 each Definitely not worth losing sleep over.
  3. Anne Arundel Medical Center has tuition reimbursement and a decent scholarship program but only hired about 10 new grads this year. If they can't place you then the debt is forgiven. At least this has been the case until this year, not sure if they will change it in light of the economy. They are in the process of expanding so I imagine they will need more nurses.
  4. I contacted the Department of Health and Mental Hygeine who oversees the MBON and got the direct phone extension for the MBON Director. Left her a voicemail, guess what? No return call. I also e-mailed my congressman. I know it's a busy place, but we pay them with our application fees, renewal fees and taxes.....it's not right. My employer will not pay me my negotiated wage until I have an active license. It's stuck it that limbo "pending" status and I'm sooooooo frustrated.
  5. i am laughing to keep from crying. i received an e-mail response. i never asked about my cna license renewal from 2009, only about my current rn license. does this make any sense to anyone? are they saying that if they don't approve my rn application within 5 days that i have to pay a $5 fee for their inefficiency? please help! ________________________________________________________________________________________________ subject : cna - application received dear xxxxxxx, thanks you for visiting us online. our record indicates that you have successfully completed the nursing certificate renewal application form on 2009-06-15 20:03:29 online. however we are waiting for the approval from the registered nurse. your application must be approved by registered nurse within 5 days. otherwise the record will be deleted off the system and $5 charge may be applied for processing fee. we will notify you via email once the application is processed. email us at [email protected] should you have any question. we appreciate your effort and look forward to serving you in the future. http://www.mbon.org
  6. My FBI background check has been back for at least a month. I contacted the Department of Health and Mental Hygeine who oversees the MBON and they gave me the name and direct telephone number for the Director of MBON. I left her a voicemail, no return call yet. I also e-mailed my congressman. I think it all sucks.
  7. On the eastern shore there is a Level II Trauma in Salisbury, close to the beach. There is also a Level III Trauma in Dover, DE. Most of our trauma cases go to Baltimore, though. There is a magnet hospital in Easton, MD which is a pretty cool place to live. It's on the shore but not terribly far from Annapolis. I live on the shore and work "over the bridge", the commute is a pain but there is a big difference in pay and not too many eastern shore options for new comers. If you want to message me privately I can tell you more.
  8. I took (and passed!) the NCLEX on 7/1 and still no license #. It says "pending" under discipline and background check. I can't get a live person on the phone at MBON. My employer will not pay me my full new grad salary until I have a license number. Very frustrating.
  9. Are you interested in the beach, the mountains, the suburbs, country, or city? Do you have children that will be in the school system? What kind of job are you looking for? Trauma? Home health? OR?
  10. In Annapolis new grads are making $26.50.
  11. I've spoken to a few nurse recruiters in DE and MD and the story has been the same across the board. It's not looking good. Positions are very limited and therefore, very competitive.
  12. I like to include a nutrition diagnosis with this type of patient.
