  1. Congratulations dtex23!! Are you currently working? I am only working PRN at the moment and really need to brush up on some skills before school starts!
  2. Our letters to accept a seat have to be in by March 2 so the wait shouldn't be too long. I have a friend who works at HCC and she made it sound like just about everyone who applied for the transition program got in one way or another.
  3. My HawkNet profile also says the same thing about BSC1085. Not sure why either. As far as how many seats are available I really don't know but I am pretty sure it is the same amount from year to year. Maybe tomorrow they will give you a better indication as to how many alternates are admitted each year. Let me know how it goes!!
  4. I have a friend that was an alternate and she and several other alternates did get into the program. Hang in there...with your GPA being a 3.0 I think you have a really good shot!!! I've started a new thread for LPN-RN transition but so far no one has responded.
  5. Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has applied to the HCC LPN-RN transition program starting May 2012. I just received my letter in the mail yesterday and I can't wait to get started!! Hoping to connect with others who will be starting then too!
  6. I know the basic RN program has a fall start date but I was told I wouldn't hear anything before mid-March so maybe notifications will go out a little earlier. The waiting really stinks!!! Anyone else applying for the transition option?
  7. Hi , Just wanted to let anyone applying to the LPN-RN transition program know that I received my acceptance letter in the mail today!! I never expected to get a response so early even though I having been checking my email every day!! I am so excited!!! The orientation for LPN-RN is April 11 from 9-4 at the Dale Mabry campus. So, hopefully good news is on the way if not there already!!! Good luck to all of you!!
  8. When I was dropping off paperwork I asked if we would be told at orientation and the lady told me that we would be. Then she just picked up some papers and looked through to my name and told me where I was set to go. It sounds like anyone living in Tampa, Lutz, etc. is going to the North Campus.
  9. Just found yesterday that I will be in the Brooksville LPN-RN transition class and not NPR. I was expecting NPR since it is so much closer to my house but I will go wherever I need to!! Are clinicals for North done at Brooksville Regional or Oakhill? Or both? I have never even been out to the North Campus..anyone want to share their experience with the school/hospital? Thanks!!!:)
  10. I got my acceptance letter for the LPN-RN Transition program beginning in August!!!!! I am so happy!!!! Just wanted to let everyone know that the letters are on the way!!!! Good luck to everyone!!!
  11. "I know that this semester they are just looking at individual subject scores and not composite, but I was just curious?" I hadn't heard this info. Are they putting any higher weight on a particular individual subject score(s)? I haven't even received a letter regarding my application!! So hard to wait!!!
  12. Anyone else apply for this program? When I dropped off my application they told me we should be hearing something around the first week in July. I can't wait!!
  13. Hi, I am applying for the Aug. 2011 LPN-RN Bridge program and was wondering if there is anyone else out there applying also. I just finished my prereqs this semester and will be taking the TEAS test this month. Hopefully I will do well enough on it since I have only left myself enough time to take it once! I think I am also going to take Lifespan and Ethics this summer to lighten my load for the next two semesters. They told me that they notify applicants of decisions about one month after the May 30 application deadline...so not too long to wait!! Would love to hear from anyone else applying for this class!!
  14. I will see what info I can get for you! I can only imagine how stressful moving AND starting school must be!
  15. Is it true that if you test on the computer you receive your results right then? I hope so...I would hate to wait for those!!
  16. I have to agree that complaining would just be a waste of time!
  17. I did my clinicals at Kindred also. UCH LTAC is a lot different...I'm sure you will really like it!! And, if you are interested in critical care this is a great place to start!! You will learn a lot.
  18. "Applicants who have passed the NCLEX and have an active license in another state may apply by endorsement." Yes, you can get your license from another state and then apply for your Fl license by endorsement as of now. When I spoke with someone at the BON I could get no reassurance that there would not be changes made with that. I know that some states require you to work for a period of time in the state you are licensed in BEFORE applying for a license by endorsement. It seems a bit risky to me. I would check it out thoroughly before I gave them any money. I had already invested time and money but decided that I don't want to take the chance of not getting my license. Good luck in whatever you decide!
  19. I would also recommend the Studygroup 101 notes...they are great! I would always read the suggested book material first. Good luck!
  20. How much time did you get in training before you were on your own? Working float pool is tough and I would imagine for a new nurse it is even tougher. Hang in there...with time it will get easier!
  21. Hi, I live in Hillsborough County (near the Pinellas line) and work PRN at a LTC facility in Pinellas making $23.50/hr (started as a new grad). I also work PRN at an ALF in Hillsborough making $20.00/hr. The pay is pretty good in LTC/ALF here in this area. Our places don't have baylor but many do. I am also going to attend a LPN-RN program in St Pete and it is an easy drive. My school is directly off of the interstate so that helps! What school will you be attending? As far as rentals go you can also check http://www.realtor.com for rentals in the area that you like. Good luck to you!!! Good luc
  22. Hi! Glad to hear the info about the hats!! I am trying to brush up on some med/surg but not doing too much else. I have been working mostly in LTC/ALF and need to refresh my mind about a lot! I did see the schedule for the class that started in Feb. and there were no clinicals until the 3rd quarter. The first quarter is A&P, English, computers, math and psychology. If you have any of these classes completed already then your days and hours can be much less than the other students. Also, your tuition is a lot less!! I think I will only be going about 2-3 hours a day the first quarter. I met a few nurses that were in their last quarter and they seemed to really be happy with the program. Are you working as an LPN now? :)
  23. I didn't know about the nursing caps...hopefully they are not still wearing those! I have seen their new facility and it is really nice! I am SO excited to be starting soon!!
  24. Congratulations on the new job!!! I was also considering LTAC (offered a job a few weeks ago) but decided to go back to school instead. There is no way that I can work FT and go to school. What certifications will you be getting? Also, what is the nurse to patient ratio at the LTAC you will be working in? Again, congratulations on the job...I'm sure you will love it!!
  25. Hi, Is anyone attending the LPN-RN bridge program starting this May? I am getting ready to turn in my application this week and I'm really looking forward to getting back to school. It's a whole lot of money but I have heard a lot of good things about this program so I am going ahead with it. Anyone have any recent experiences with this school (particularly the RN program)? Were you able to work while attending school? Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!:)
