volunteering is being highly recommended if you cant find a job.. im sure you didnt pick the wrong vocation if you loved nursing its well worth the wait :0)

its not easy out there, im in the bay area and it took me 11 months post grad to find a job here and im still only working part time in an outpatient surgery center. remember that any experience is better than no experience, i was trying SNF's and everything else under the sun that would allow me to use my license, i love my job actually but it still isnt inpatient experience... good luck!

im in outpatient surgery too and i love it, i sit and interact with my patients and families both pre- and post-op, a few give me hugs afterwards and say thank you and it really gives me that "im a nurse" feeling, it was total chance that i stumbled upon this job though. I would search surgery centers in your area and go to them with your resume and see if they are looking and start networking, i actually have another surgery center that i know an RN in too just in case i need more work ever. Networking is the key! good luck!

it can be so stressful and frustrating sometimes .. but its those 5 min (sometimes less) conversations i get with my patients.. and the laughs and heartfelt talks and moments you can have with them and their families :redpinkhe... it doesnt always happen, but when it does it gives me an incredible feeling and reminds me why i love being a nurse :0) those times can be so fun, and they over power the hard times! enjoy, im a new grad RN and its tough but just remember its such a blessing to be involved the way we are!

i had to take oral and written communications classes in order to get into my nursing program...

i did my NRP online but did a one hour skill check off with the instructor... it was very legit and really nice... i could learn at my own speed and really have time to make sure i understood the material... i just found out i needed my ACLS within a week and searched on Google until i found a weekend course in my area.. you never know.. you may still find one i just did mine this weekend :0) Good Luck!

I just got my first job and i have had my license since july 09... in order to get ahead i would say get all your certifications cause everyone else is... (BLS, ACLS, PALS etc..) and i ended up going to hospitals and trying to talk directly to recruiters.. sending emails directly to recruiters.. i heard a lot of "we arnt hiring new grads" back.. its not easy out there... i looked non-stop since graduation in May of 09 and just got a surgery outpatient job... Good Luck on your job hunt... remember that anything right now is better than nothing... LTC's.. outpatient.. drs offices.. though the ultimate is that hospital job :) its tough but keep your head up!

im totally addicted to Greys Anatomy (i even have the scrubs that say Seattle Grace... been to the house in Seattle they film at etc...) so def that one.. and i would push for the nurses to have a bigger role instead of being in the background.. just like in real life

i remember in school the instructors always telling me if it was on the exam then i had an order for it. I would almost say ABX, tylenol, wound care, sponge. ABX will help with the infection which can be a source of the fever, but you still need to get the fever down with the tylenol. wound care now that we have anx on board, and sponge last...
