Looking for job in Southern California
Hi Katielynn, I graduated in FL with my BSN back in August, and I relocated to CA afterwards. My husband took a really good job in CA while I was still in school, and we are both natives of CA. I obtained my initial licensure from FL and then endorsed to CA. It costs more to do it this way, but it would have taken longer to get my authorization to test if I applied directly to CA. The NCLEX is administered by Pearson, and you can take it in CA even if you are seeking licensure in another state. Once your license posts, you can then apply for endorsement to CA. I took the NCLEX very end of September, and I had my permanent CA license by mid-October. However, I am actually going back to FL next week for my first RN job in a really good residency program. I have applied to well over 200 RN jobs in CA (new grad and "experience preferred"), and have only had one hospital interview, a long term care interview, and an offer at a blood center. I was going to take the blood center job, but it was 3 hours from home and I worried that it would have limited my career. I noticed that you are graduating with your ADN, and several of the new graduate programs in CA either require or prefer BSN, so that may make it more difficult. Also, one of the new grad programs in my area was required to only hire those who graduated from a local school. I know having to be separated isn't ideal, but the hospital where I will be working allows self-scheduling, and when I have enough days off in a row, I will fly home to see my family. I need to get some experience, and in this economy it isn't good for me not to be working in case something were to happen to my husband's job. Good luck with what you decide to do, and congrats on your upcoming graduation!

California RN Endorsement (Grad from ABSN)
No, there is a form that the school must fill out. I had my transcript sent directly from the school to the BON.

California RN Endorsement (Grad from ABSN)
I had already had my nursing transcripts sent to the BON when I went to their office, but I am not sure if they were considered or not in issuing the temp. I am thinking they were not since the man I spoke to seemed like he hadn't looked at my transcript yet given our conversation. I found the website confusing regarding if they needed them before issuing the temp or not. I did need to have my fingerprints already processed prior to being issued a temp license. After I obtained my temp license, it only took about two weeks to be issued my permanent license.

California RN Endorsement (Grad from ABSN)
I endorsed to California after I graduated from an accelerated program, and I only submitted one transcript from where I attended nursing school. I applied for my permanent and my temporary CA license in person at the BON's office in Sacramento, and the gentleman I spoke to in the office told me as long as my pre-reqs were listed on my nursing school transcript, I wouldn't need to submit any other transcripts. He said some nursing schools do not list transfer courses on their official transcripts, and in those cases the BON would need transcripts from the other schools.

Parkland Residency's for January 2013
I am from out of state, and I received my BSN in Florida. I received an update email from the OR recruiter earlier indicating they were going to review my application and to wait for further email communication.

Scripps New Grad Nurse Residency 2013
I received my rejection email a little bit ago as well.

Parkland Residency's for January 2013
I completed a second degree accelerated BSN program in August, and I have no health care experience. Before I started my BSN program, I had planned on getting a tech job during the program, but once we got going I realized I had zero time for anything except school.

Parkland Residency's for January 2013
I received a second email indicating that my app for the NICU was rejected. I still have apps pending for the OR and the Burn ICU, and I have yet to hear anything regarding those units.

Parkland Residency's for January 2013
No, I did not receive that type of email, this was the first I have heard from them. It stated that I met the minimum requirements and my app would be forwarded to the hiring manager. I would think that most people who applied though would meet the minimum requirements since it wouldn't really make sense to apply if you didn't. It seems like the hiring managers would be bombarded with applications if they did in fact forward all apps only meeting the minimum requirements.

Parkland Residency's for January 2013
I received an email from Parkland last night indicating that my application for the NICU was forwarded to the hiring manager. Has anyone else heard any news?

Scripps New Grad Nurse Residency 2013
I have a BSN, but no healthcare work experience. I just graduated from an accelerated program in August.

I completed my app around 10:30 am the initial day it was up, and my status changed around 2 pm yesterday to "applicant review."

Parkland Residency's for January 2013
Hi there, I applied to Parkland's OR, NICU, and the Burn ICU. I have yet to hear anything from them. Since I would be relocating if hired, I stuck with applying to units in which I have a true interest.

UC Davis Residency March 2013
I agree, 14 openings is not very promising, especially since they receive so many applications. I also did not attend nursing school in this area. My graduation date was in August and I had applied for the previous cohort that began in October, but wasn't contacted for an interview. I am hoping that now since I am graduated and licensed I will be a bit more appealing, but who knows. However, with such a small number of openings, I am not going to get my hopes up.

Fired within 90 days... advice?
As another poster stated, many applications ask for work history for a set number of years, such as 5-10. A resume is more for highlighting pertinent information related to your current job seeking situation, and it need not necessarily include all of an applicant's work history. In my past experiences, interviewers had access to both the application and the resume, but I am sure this differs among employers.

UWF Nursing Program Admission
Congrats ania86fl! Good luck in the program! Lexicon, sorry to hear you were not accepted. I hope one of the other programs will work out for you. They put me on the alternate list, but I have already been accepted everywhere else I applied, and I decided to attend UCF. I am actually moving to Orlando this weekend, and I start school in about 3 weeks, so I am pretty excited. I was a little worried about moving, but I figure I will take this denial from UWF as a sign I made the right choice.

University of South Florida Accelerated BSN
Thanks CNA Sam. It has been difficult choosing between the different programs. FAU did not have a very high boards passing rate, so that helped in my decision regarding that school. Both UCF and USF seem like they have great programs, so I think either would be a good choice.

University of South Florida Accelerated BSN
I just received an acceptance email for the accelerated program. I am pretty surprised since I did not have any real health care experience. I was also accepted to UCF and FAU, and I picked UCF over FAU. I am going to talk some things over with my husband, but I will most likely end up continuing on with UCF.

UCF Fall 2011 Hopefuls
Paco, I also got an email about being accepted to the traditional program. I figured since I accepted the accelerated spot, my other application would no longer be active. I am going to call the CON tomorrow and let them know to give the traditional spot to someone else.

UCF Fall 2011 Hopefuls
With the nursing program at UCF you have to be admitted to the university as "nurse pending" before the CON will consider your nursing application. I received my general UCF acceptance back in the fall, but did not complete the actual nursing application until Jan.

UCF Fall 2011 Hopefuls
It is just for general admission to the university. I was accepted to the accelerated program, and my status said the same thing once I was admitted to the university. Acceptance to the nursing program will come directly from the CON via email.

UCF Accelerated BSN 2011-2012
Thanks for the info. I called the CON to see if I could fax the letter in, and they said that was fine, so I faxed it in this morning. Hopefully we will receive some more info soon.
