  1. Danskos are the best I've found.
  2. Hi Lauren, I could have written your post. I am in the same situation, working nights and hating it. Something's gotta give, I know that...just not sure what yet. I love my job and the hospital I work at and don't want to work on another unit, but I can't go on feeling miserable. What to do? Its a tough call. Let me know what you decide. ~newgrad
  3. I did a search for this question, but didn't come up with anything. Here's my situation: I am a new L&D nurse and I have spent three days (with three different preceptors) in the OR circlulating c-sections. Each of them did the skin prep differently. We use gel prep and sterile sponges. Some go over the incision site several times and then up the belly, some go over the site only once and then go up and around and down the leg with one sponge before turning it over. When the sponge is turned over, doesn't this contaminate when the used side touches the sterile glove? I am all confused and I have had three different doctors tell me that I broke technique while doing my prep. Now I am nervous to have to do it again. What is the right way???
  4. Hello, All ... so excited to see this new forum. I graduated from nursing school in late April 2005, took boards on May 26th, found out I passed with 75 questions on May 31st, and started a 4-month orientation in L&D on Friday, July 1st. My preceptor is awesome and I am so excited about my new career! Good luck to everyone!
  5. I start June 27th on Labor and Delivery (3 mo. orientation).
  6. It's not like women don't expect a strange man to see their cootchies at some point during a pregnancy. Hee, hee. But honestly, I don't expect strange men to see my cootchie during pregnancy!!! I will either have a woman OB or midwife. Just my preference.
  7. Congratulations, Jaimee, R.N.!!!!
  8. Hang in there Jaimee. When were your transcripts sent?
  9. It only took 5 days to issue my license (only 2 business days)!!! Yep, I PASSED!!!
  10. I passed!!! My license was issued yesterday 5/31/05!!! I am a CA RN!!!
  11. SC RN~ I am working L&D nights 3-12's, too! Maybe we will be co-workers! I PM'd you :)
  12. It came out Dec. 2004. We started studying for NCLEX using Sauders in January before our April graduation. Our school had a mandatory 1 day a week review class. It was great!
  13. If you normally didn't study for exams in school and still did well, then you should be ok. Good luck.
  14. I did not have any delegation questions on NCLEX. But I'm sure they would be very general and not state-specific if they were to ask.
  15. I did and I am nervous about it. I am an early-to-bed-early-to-rise kind of person. Anyone else in a similar situation?
  16. RNinMay2005~ NCLEX wasn't too bad. I got 75 questions. Surprisingly, no ABGs or lab values. Lots of prioritizing and room assignments. I also had a lot of med-surg diagnoses, then they would ask what symptoms to look for. No delegation questions. 2-3 calculations and 3-4 select all that apply. Overall, I think it went alright. Thanks for asking!
  17. Congrats, Shirley! California doesn't participate in the quick results, so we have to wait for California to release the results to us. Not sure how long its going to take....
  18. SC RN~~~Yippee, its done! Now we wait! I have been checking the website every couple of hours. It is making me crazy! Especially since I hear it can take up to 2 weeks to get a license issued to us. Let me know if you hear anything!
  19. Took NCLEX today 5/26/05. Now the big wait begins... I plan on checking the website frequently to see if a license has been issued to me... yes, I've already checked this afternoon...no big surprise my name wasn't there!!! :chuckle
  20. Thanks for the well wishes! I am back and I survived!!! The computer shut off at 75 questions, so now I wait (again!) Thanks again :) ETA: I had NO questions on lab values (hypo- or hyper- kalemia, calcemia, etc.) or ABGs! Go figure...
  21. What are your suggestions...studying? relaxing? going over questions? memorizing lab values??? Thanks!
  22. I wll be making $26.50 days + $3.50 night shift diff + $3000 reloc. bonus in So. California as a new grad RN.
  23. Got my ATT and scheduled NCLEX for May 26th!!!!!
  24. Received my ATT today! Scheduled my test for May 26th!!!!
  25. OK, so I received my Eligibility Notice in the mail from the BO N, but still no ATT from Pearson! I called the Board and they said they made me eligible to test on the 15th! I called Pearson and they said they haven't received anything from the Board. Now I have both parties "looking into the matter." Geesh
