  1. It's FINALLY up!!! I passed!!! The state of North Carolina recognizes me as a Registered nurse!!! If my fat butt could turn cartwheels I'd be doing it right now!!! (hey some of you skinny nurses do some for me lol) I am so happy!! Good luck and best wishes to all those getting ready to take the exam! (ps if your state has a phone verification line, call that first it'll be there before the website is up) Thanks for the support!! I guess I should get a new screen name and just be DCCCRNn2005!!!!:balloons:
  2. I am going absolutely flipping crazy here!!! I took the boards on Wednesday, it's now early Friday morning, and still no # on the board's phone line. I am freaking out here. It's not been quite 48 hours yet but checking every few hours has become an obsession. I know you all know how I feel! (or will soon) I read something that if you take wednesday it had to be up by Monday (2 full business days) but I was wondering how fast others found out. Anyone test wed. and know by Friday. Or like Monday and find out wed. you get my ? Please help, on the verge of a nervous breakdown!!!
  3. Well it stopped at 75, which means i did great or failed miserably. I'm hoping for the first. It was hard, and I honestly don't know how i feel about it. I had several questions on things we didn't cover very much (such as testicular cancer and scarlet fever) I'm still hoping and praying that i some how worked it out. I finished kinda fast so that's scaring me some too (75q in 70 min) but that's almost how fast our school wanted us to answer when we were in class. I wish everyone good luck, and just relax, take your time and you'll do fine. Don't try to cram at the end it will not help. I hope to write back soon and share i have a #. till then pratice and relax!!!
  4. I'm just about to leave to take the big test!!! I am more nervous than I have ever been in my life i think. All those years of school boil down to this one test. Well if anyone is reading this, whisper a little prayer for me. I need it. The test will begin at 9am (eastern). Good luck to anyone else taking it today!!! I'll update soon.
  5. I took the HESI exit exam about a month ago, and scored like 89% which means i was told interets as an excellent chance to pass boards. I haven't done a ton of questions, but on those HESI practice disks i didn't score all that hot. Can anyone compare. I NCLEX on June 1st.
  6. Ok I'm sceduled for June 1st. I graduated from an excellent program, whom for the last several years has had a 100% pass rate. My problem is I have not been studying much (more like very little) since I graduated 2 weeks ago. I'm no where near 3000 questions. I'm like freaking out, because when I did 100 questions off saunders q&a i got like 66%. That is not good at all i know, but when we were in school many of my classmates said thier review scores were around that. Do they purposely make these reviews harder than the test b/c it's "review"? Or am i in BIG trouble? Is there anyone out there who didn't do anywhere close to 3000 and still passed? (I know what some are thinking and please do not post back "well you should have studied more!!!" I know this, but i didn't and I need some guidance and encouragement.) I know there has to be someone out there!!! :crying2:
  7. I just received my email with my Authorization to test and scheduled my appointment. It's June 1st at 9am. I just am so happy I could bust, and I needed to share it with someone. Thanks congrats to all my fellow new grads and I hope your ATT comes in soon!!!!
  8. Getting married June 11, 2005. Just took my final exam on Tuesday and am now a Graduate Nurse. We are having a small wedding but there are alot of details left, since I've been in school haven't had much time. START EARLY!!!! Good Luck!
  9. I used to work in retail and one of our regular customers had RN added to her name at the top of her checks because she always signed her name that way due to habit. Some places I've heard of won't accept checks if the signed name doesn't match the printed name.
  10. No she did not (a 1st year ADN student) just ask the anestestiologist (SP) "shouldn't i be pushing that epidural, she is my pt. after all!" I kid you not, she is no longer with our class as we are about to graduate, thank goodness
  11. I am graduating in May, and I was wondering how you new grads decided on what field to choose. Right now I work in dialysis, but I am pretty sure I want to be a ICU/Cardiac nurse eventually. Are you all going for the suggested 6m-1year in med/surg or are you diving right into your specialty? I mean as new grads we have the world open to us, but I don't want to get into a specialty and either burn out or hate it. I feel the general would give me a better knowledge base, even though I'm not crazy about med/sug. I was just wondering what some of you all were going for.
  12. Today was the first day of my last semester, meaning I have only 15weeks and 4 days left of school. I am so excited, but at the same time confused as everything. How did you decide what field was right for you? I work as a reuse tech at a dialysis center now ( they hired me mainly d/t the fact I was in nursing school and graduating soon) I know I have a job with them when I graduate, but I'm not sure if dialysis is what I want to do. I'm more drawn to the hospital, so you can see the confusion. Could some of you all give me some advice on how to decided????
  13. Goodness it seems they throw quite a mixture of things together in one semester. wow, well anyway, I'll give you my advice and you can take it for what it's worth. I too had a bad experience with failing a semester,( and it set me back a year before I could start again.) The problem I've found with the nursing tests is they put alot of junk in the question that you don't need ( you don't have to know he just had a amputated big toe, when he's not breathing) Look at what they are asking for! Mark out the other junk. And look for words like BEST, FIRST, or EXCEPT if you don't they could really throw you off. MY advice for the therepeutic communication is what would you like to hear during that situation. (or since I'm so bad at it, which one would I not say, that's usually the right one) Take your time, slow down, even see if you can take your test alone in another room if that may help. Well I wish you luck!!! Hope I helped a little.
  14. Graduating in May 2005, just passed my "6 months to go" mark!!! So excited. I plan on getting a tattoo the day I pass boards. My sister-in-law (RN) and I are both getting a caduces with a nurse's cap on top and the letter R on one side and N on the other. I can't wait!!!!
  15. I'm working my way through nsg. school as a NA at a LTC facility. It's been my experience that the sheets won't stay on the bed there either. Maybe the manufacturer just doesn't take in to consideration that those beds move and fold and as soon as you roll any part up the sheet pops right off. :angryfire That may have been the case w/ your NAs they rolled them up and didn't realize it had come off (and if the problem lies w/ them ignoring a patient that's a whole bigger problem in itself) I do agree that if the sheet will not stay on and the pt. must be rolled up, you can improvise with a reg. sheet and hospital corners.
