Tampa area
Sorry to beat this old horse to death, but I've only seen posts recently for starting pay for new grads. My husband and I are seriously considering moving to the Tampa Bay area. I'm a BSN RN with about 4 years experience in cardiac med/surg and ED. I'm currently in OH, making $25.53/hr + $5/hr evening diff, $5.50/hr night diff and $3/hr weekend diff. Would this be comparable to pay rates in the Tampa area? Or should I squash our dreams of moving now....

Fall 12 NRSE 4520 Assessment and Promotion
This is so stupid. I just got my grade for week 4 and had 7 points taken off for "missing prioritization of evidence based data"....hmmm maybe the TA should reread my paper because, while my subject, a healthy 3 year old, only had one health problem, that section is not missing. I hate this class...

I know right?! Where's the trick?

Fall 12 NRSE 4520 Assessment and Promotion
We had to do a teaching project very similar to this one in a class I had for my ADN. We wrote the objectives like this "After listening to the presentation and the interactive game, the student will be able to recognize and put into action, at least 2 ways to handle stress in any situation". That's "proper" format for an objective.

Fall 12 NRSE 4520 Assessment and Promotion
So yeah, this is last minute, but that's how I roll :) Yesterday I posted on the Q&A about the consent but of course, no answer yet. If we are assessing our own child, are we just supposed to sign it as the parent/guardian with our name on the top of it as well? I'm using my 3 year old since he's accessible to me and all.... I agree with everyone here, this class is so disorganized, there is way to much work to be done in one week, and the TA (at least my TA) can not answer questions clearly (or at all...) Fun times, fun times :sigh:

Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program
I just received my DARS report yesterday. First thing, should I have them correct the degrees I have? They only put "certificate" in 2000, when I received my BS in 1999, and "diploma" in 2010, when I received my AA in nursing in 2012. Second, and most importantly, it says that I need 27 hours of lower nursing classes! *****! And now I can't find anywhere that lists the lower nursing classes. It just says "select from NUR 1*** or NUR2***. Seriously, 27 hours? I figured I'd probably have to take another stats class as my stats for criminal justice that I took in 1998 wouldn't work. I also need a tier III class. I thought I read here somewhere that the capstone NUR 4600 class will work for that, right? I was going to take nutrition 1000 to satisfy tier II applied science and math and then I need another tier II humanities and lit course. Kind of disappointed that nothing transferred from my BS for that, but whatever. Finally, what satisfies the jr. level eng comp class? I'm on my 2nd and 3rd classes now, leadership and community health. Going well :)

License Dilemma-LPN with new RN license
I came to ask this same question. I just passed the RN boards and did not renew my LPN license. I am currently working as an LPN PRN for a staffing agency. No one there can answer my question confidently. Can I still work as a LPN with an active RN license? And if I can, when I'm working and signing paperwork, do I sign it "RN" or "LPN" (if the job I'm working is technically LPN)? I'm not even sure what I just said makes sense. I mean, I know people who were LPN's in LTC and occasionally worked as aides. Wouldn't that be the same thing?

Ohio License
I took my RN boards last Friday. The pearson vue trick did not work for me until my quick results were ready, which was Monday night, between 11pm-12am. THEN I got the good pop up. I didn't believe it so I paid for the quick results and it said I passed. It didn't show up on the BON until Tuesday evening, between 5 and 6. However, when I took the LPN boards in Feb 2011, my license was posted on the BON 22 hours later. I don't know if it had to do with the time of year or not (Feb = less people taking the boards. Aug = more since June is the traditional graduating month for most colleges).

4 or 5 years for basic RN?????
Bohecker - BAD!!!! Across the street from Bohecker is Hondros. There's no waiting list. They admit a new nursing class each term (so 4 per year). You start in the LPN program unless you're already an LPN, obviously, then you start in the RN program. It's 2.5 years to do both programs.
