  1. i think the question stemmed from a stereotypical knowledge that RN should be making more $$ than lpn which usually is, i am an lpn for over 5 yrs and recently got my RN license and my pay increase significantly so im finding it hard to believe that there's an lpn who makes more than an RN in terms of hourly rate in the same institution even a new grad RN makes more than what I get when i was an LPN so i think you should approach your manager or HR but don't mention about ur comparison to lpn rate better keep that to urself it would be better if u'll just say that other company with the same workload is giving higher pay to RN's so u'r inquiring if theres a possibility of them giving u an increase. just be polite and assertive im sure u'll get a good response
  2. CONGRATULATIONS WE'RE ON THE SAME BOAT COURTNEY, I too never gave up i actually made a joke that if i failed like 30x in 5yrs i may not be an RN but a guinness record holder for failing nclex exam too many times, or most determined nclex test taker, too bad it didn't happen lol.
  3. its a horrible job because it is a JOB and everyother job is horrible if it's just a JOB, but if you put your passion into it the rewarding feeling of seeing a sick people smile at you and saying thank you for helping me, the feeling that you were used by god to extend or touch someones life, the knowledge that you gain, learned that you can use in caring for your own family and be like a family's doctor, though in so many ways maltreated, verbally abused by pts and drs yet still thinking of therapeutic communication and exercising the compassion that most nurses naturally has, then im thankful i have a horrible job.
  4. about 8 yrs ago when i went to australia, my sister in law works in a hospital kitchen and when we went there, their nurses has pickets and rallies going on and said they were fighting for nurse patients ratio and one of the demands they were asking is to have 1:4 ratio if the nurse gets more than 4 he/she is entitled for additional payment or sort of like a professional fee, i wonder if that would happen here i'll be happy to work in LTC where i have 15-20 sometimes more patient, though tired atleast well compensated.
  5. CONGRATULATIONS ! enjoy ur holiday and weekend. u'll get the official result on website by tues or wednesday
  6. why put ur study materials to storage lol, give it to others who are still reviewing or needing it. THATS helping . CONGRATULATIONS :yeah:
  7. i can only say relax and stop studying anymore but thats easier said than done, if you really need to cram and feel like you still need to review, my advise, go over your normal values esp. electrolytes and blood values and also abg's. then browse on the disease that confuses u the most to refresh your memory then have a good sleep. goodluck and go get that license. pray and with god's help all things will work together for good.
  8. bigday today for ivvann and bettyboop. goodluck to both of you. keep us posted. God bless
  9. i think most of us are feeling the same way, anxiety is always there and beneficial as long as it's not severe , on my first 3 takes i scheduled my exam at 8am which i think is not a good idea since you were not able to sleep well at night and rushing to get into the center at time. i think the best time to take the test is 11am onward, a time when we are fully awake, so on my 4th try i took a 1pm exam and when i got into the testing center i washed my head in the toilet and literally soaked my head with cold water, for some reason it gave me a good, alive and refreshed feeling, and thank god i passed. goodluck, relax and pray.
  10. aww if in any consolation i failed several tumes too so dont lose hope, everything will workout right in gods time. there is an interim permit tht the ca bon issued and is good for 6 mos so within that period you can work as an RN-IP but i think they only issue those for 1st time taker, one time only is not gonna be issued once u take the exam. inquire at BON for further clarification
  11. thanks caliotter3, i guess the bon is assuming that we know how to download reapplication from the website. chances are not everyone will call to ask for reapplication form so it could be a way for them to save money on papers and also envelop. just a hunch though
  12. I just received my license card from the mail today, exactly 1wk after i took my exam, it doesn't even have a letter that says congratulations you passed, it just contain a paper with instructions about the card like sign at the back and if lost there's a $30 fee and the card itself. and also a friend of mine who did not make it received a mail in a small envelop so we thought she passed and is very excited to open but it just contain a letter that says she failed and another letter that has her performance score 3 are above passing and the rest are near passing. it doesnt even have a reapplication letter, so i guess Ca BON are trying to get their job done as quick as possible. hence, snail mail, no longer a snail
  13. pinksunflower where in fresno are you at? we were from there and used to work at willow creek care center. BTW Ca snail mail result is no longer a snail, i got my license card today exactly 1wk after my exam. goodluck to all those who are still waiting.
  14. savvy i already got my name on the website, im finally an RN, thanks be to God for all his unspeakable gift. the PVT is 100% accurate
  15. CONGRATULATIONS CRYSTELLE, finally a dream come true. :nurse:
  16. QA-quality assurance, they are probably doing surveys on their pretest items, i just red it from the other postings here. anyway did u try PVT again, Goodluck
  17. u'll end up going to malls there pla susme.
  18. Hi zoe, check mo ung website nila for schedules there in cali, i think they have upcoming review in burbank try their website at excellnursingreview.com, and I think ur uncle is right, not a good idea to have ur review in PI, u'll end have going to malls there than reviewing lol. anyway gudluck and looking forward to ur zoeRN sn . God bless
  19. i understand how you feel, got the same feeling when i failed the 3rd time, its like i felt like i already did everything but still failed until i realized the everything that i was talking about is reading what i only want to read, my books still looks brand new with the CD at the back unopenned so technically i did not really study and was just hoping for luck. i could not study bymyself coz if the book opens my eyes close, i can stay infront of the computer the wholeday watching youtube, browsing the net but never reading nclex questions for somereason it has a sedating effect on me. so i took a classroom review and so glad i took it coz most of the questions i got from the exam were literally mentioned in the review. BTW i took excel review center, and i met some goodfriends there that helped me a lot in group study or discussion, so interactive discussion works best for me, i suggest you take a review class or call your friends/classmates to help you in a group study, it only took me 10 days to review and absorbed a lot. so goodluck
  20. savvys, did you get the result by mail first or ur name first appear on online license verification, coz like girlspmpg i also took dec10 exam and got the good popup but still waiting for my name to appear online if the pvt is really true. i have my hopes high now yet still nervous taragis.
  21. i think the pop up that says on hold indicates you were randomly chosen for QA, try the pvt again and if you get the popup that says"our record indicates that you recently scheduled an exam, please contact your board....." then this is the good pop up. goodluck and God bless.
  22. $1700 per test wooooow are you serious? that's really ridiculous, thats a ripoff OMG. anyway NRS maybe right, sounds like ur stressing a lot resulting to inability to focus/concentrate, why don't you take a vacation with your family, leave the nclex thing behind relax first, unwind then set a goal like by the end of this month i will be able to finish the whole saunders book or ask a friend to guide you or have a mate to study. if its me reading bymyself is not gonna work coz of the sedating effect of books on me its inversely proportional to my eyes if the book opens my eyes close hehehe, so whats effective for me is a group study or a classroom setup review. find whats best for you then invest on that even if you have to pay, but not $1700 everytime shoot i can't get over that lol. anyway goodluck and God bless
