  1. Mercyteapot - I have thought about that and pay. They all probably can figure out how much I make now. Also I think my extensive backgroung plays a part. I wish I could prove some type of discrimination. In the meantime, I keep applying to everything GN and RN I.
  2. RN_BSN09, Thanks. I applied to multiple positions.
  3. I have interviewed all over the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I am asking about Versant because I was told I was no longer eligible because I have been out of school too long. I have branched out and have applied all over Texas, Georgia, and Florida. I do not know why I am having such a hard time getting hired. I am waiting for Children's to open up this round.
  4. I have been looking for a GN position since September 2011 in the Dallas area. I have had no luck. I graduated from my ADN 12/2011 and my RN-BSN 12/2012. I have been told that the versent program is for graduates out of school less than a year, but I have seen where it also says less than 6 months experience. A little background - I have been a Respiratory Therapist for 26 years. I have a BS in Health Services Administration. I am ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP and STABLE certified. I graduated with my ADN 12/11 and my RN-BSN 12/12 (Summa Cum Laude -3.9 GPA). Passed NCLEX 1st try in 1/12. Can anyone clarify. I need some solid evidence to support the one year. Also is it 1 year from ADN or can it be RN-BSN? I am desperate. PLEASE HELP. Thanks
  5. I hate that response.
  6. I have been an RRT for 26 years. I hold a BS in Health Services Administration. When I decided to go to Nursing School, I did a lot of research. I looked at Excelsior, but it is not recognized in all states. Also I know someone who went through the program and got to the last test. She failed it 3 times and lost everything. That made me nervous. I was accepted into a local community college through my work program. I challenged my A&P, Micro, and Math. They were all 25 years old. The time limit was waived. I graduated 12/2011, passed my NCLEX 1st time 1/2012 and did the most awesome RN-BSN bridge at Texas Tech University (6 months). I graduated 12/2012 Summa Cum Laude. I am also ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, and Stable certified. The problem I am facing is finding a GN position. I don't know if my background is intimidating, or a salary issue. I have been looking since 9/2011. I do know the market in the area where I live is saturated with GNs and most hospitals want a BSN. Good luck to all RRTs doing the transition.
  7. I have a BS in Health Care Administration and am currently starting my last year of an ADN program. Does anyone know a good MSN program that is online and accepts previous BS degree. Thanks.
  8. I like Straight A's in Maternal/Newborn nursing. The only problem is the disc doesn't work with MAC. I will be entering my third semester and will look at the other type of books for help. I like that they break the info down and you do not have to read out of your textbooks so much. Good luck to all.
  9. I am currently in the THR/El Centro program. I am entering my second year or third semester. So far the only big problem with this program is that it is very unorganized. The best thing is that you are guaranteed a job when you graduate. I have found the program interesting and challenging. Are you starting the program or just looking to apply? Just hang in there and be ready to be flexible. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
  10. I will be taking the mid curricular Hesi next week. Fortunately ours is averaged in like a test grade. We do not have to make a certain number. I need a 74 to keep my A and I don't even have to take it to pass the class. I am wondering what it is like so I can let my fellow classmates know what to study. We have the Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN exam book by evolve. What should we concentrate on? Thanks. Any input is greatly appreciated.
  11. Pink Doe, I am finishing up my second semester. The program is ok, just unorganized. The best thing is that it is paid for and you are guaranteed a job when you graduate. It would be great to get any position at THR. After the first semester you are able to apply as a PCT. I would save your money and not do the CNA. I also have a BS degree and am looking at the MSN/FNP program at TWU. The UTA program is great if you don't have to work. I am a single parent and my son is a junior at UTA. Good luck. I hope you get accepted.
  12. I am about to finish my second semester with THR/El Centro. If I recall we started clinical late February, maybe early March. You might check and see if they can give you your Hep B a few weeks early. Good luck. Hope you get in.
  13. I have looked into WGU. The problem is that they require a previous BS or AS degree and current CNA licensure. I am a respiratory therapist with a BS degree. If I have to become a CNA that would be going backwards. In Texas there aren't many (if any) CNAs with a BS or AS degree. I think WGU needs to re-think things and state any medical professional can apply. THis program seems better then Excelsior because you actually have clinicals.
  14. I applied to the El Centro/THR program. I received a waiver for my A&P and microbiology. I am a respiratory therapist with 22 yrs. experience. I had my director and a former employer write letters. I also wrote a letter. Hope that helps. Good luck. I am waiting for my letter now. I hope I get in.
  15. Congrats to all who get in. I applied to the THR/El Centro program and our letters do not get mailed until Dec. 1. I put my application in in August. This has been a long wait. My GPA is 3.6. I have 2 more weeks to wait.
