  1. Yes I'm in the CAGS program since I already have a master's in nursing. I took pharmacology and pathophysiology this Summer. And class was every Wednesday for both classes. Now I'm in advanced physical assessment and it is every Wednesday in person. Maybe once or twice a semester it's on Zoom but they require us to practice our assessment skills on actor patients and each other since that is how we are graded. I look forward to next year with clinical placements which for the FNP program would be two eight hour days a week plus a once a month classroom in person meet. It's totally doable if you work 3 12s in hospital. I work mon- Friday 9-5 and have had to use all my Paid time off hours for school. Good luck
  2. Congratulations!
  3. I also was wait-listed. Just found out today May 27th. Did you end up getting a notification of acceptance since March? I'm concerned. Thanks for your response in advance. Good afternoon. I applied late in April and recieved a letter stating they liked my credentials but I will be placed on a wait-list. Has anyone heard back from being wait-listed for Fall 2021 at Pace University's FNP program. Any info to share of your experience or what you have heard would be helpful. Thank you!!
  4. I am currently speaking with the admissions counselor for the DNP program at Grand Canyon University. I am being told by others I have spoken to that it is a good program that can be completed in under 2 years and is 36 credits total. I am skeptical since I have been told its not the highest quality but the most practical and a legitimate degree. Are the professors helpful? do you feel you can handle it with fulltime work? Thank you RNVP25
  5. Hello They are focusing on internal transfers currently. they have been very selective with their outside hiring. Stay persistent and dont give up!
  6. Just want to say thank you to BionicRn for your posts. they are most helpful. awaiting to hear back from NYU.
  7. Thank you very informative. I work at a hospital in Brooklyn as an RN and the NP's are great on my floor. can i set up a contract there with school for my clinicals?? Thank you again
  8. So after a year of keepin on maimonides, i managed to get called in for a final interview with nurse manager. I have been hired!!!!! I start july 8th. So excited I will be working at my dream hospital. It also helped that I finished my BSN. The recruiter mentioned thats what they are hiring now. Only bsn nurses. So to any of you who do not have experience in hospital you will need your Bsn to even be seen by HR. but persistence and perseverance always gets you in!! Good luck to everyone.
  9. there was no panel. i guess i didnt get that far. i am still working as an ambulatory surgery center for endoscopies. i am hoping by the time i hit one year of working as a nurse that i will be able to break into a hospital.
  10. whomever you meet with will provide you with an email address. you should email your follow up and send the hand written one (optional) addressed to the person you met asap!
  11. i am glad to hear that you were able to re enter the program, for many it has not been an easy ride back into the program. I luckily have graduated and since there am an RN. but the program at citytech was difficult, unorganized and unapologetic. regardless anyone can complete it if they stay focused, study and can endure the studying as one would in the career as well.
  12. hey srn789, so the DON mentioned the nurse manager will still need to make a final decision. dont know what that means. i wrote a follow up email from last thursdays meeting and have not heard back from him....rumor has it from another friend who interviewed is that there are 15 spots for the july and that there are over 1500 applicants applying. not sure when i could expect to hear that i may be a good fit. i will email or call again to follow up if i dont hear anything in the next two weeks. i do know hospitals take time to finish a hiring process. but i just dont want to be left in dark about what they are doing or deciding..
  13. I have not met with a nurse manager nor know abt a panel interview. Thats strange. I wonder if they would call me back for that after todays interview. I didnt realize they did that kind of hiring. When did u interview with them?
  14. Hey srn789 I had the interview today and was told that there are few openings and that there are many applicants for those few openings. she asked things like what is the worst clinical experience, best cliinical and what is a patient that you had and give diagnosis, assessment and plan of care..etc.. was told that its very likely a BSN would get hired. but she was nice i guess..she still had be do paperwork and went through the motions of salary and benefits. I already did a follow up and hope to hear soon about what they decide.. I also met with the CNO and had a nice conversation. he said they do hire exceptional associates degree nurses. we shall see. How do you know you were rejected? and how did you land the interview? from your friend's recommendation? Thank you shorty king for you prayers..
  15. hey joe yes i agree..do you have your bsn btw? also when receptionist say, "apply online" you shouldnt walk away. what did you say or do in certain situations to make your visit to a hospital notable to a recruiter? how did you get through the "doors" that were closed. i have been to a few hospitals and they refuse for me to meet with the recruitment staff... thank you
  16. did you have the second interview.?
  17. Hi Its this thursday, I am practicing my responses to possible questions they may ask as well as making sure my suit is neat and pressed! I will be sure to let you know how it goes.. Thank you,
  18. ReneeI was fortunate enough to know the name of administrator who works at the hospital my mother does. She is a nurses aid and encourage me to email them. I wrote thank you as the subject line. My theme was my passion for nursing and the thank you was to being a male nurse who became a doctor of nursing and i mentioned I admire that. So he like my email and had HR set up an interview to meet him. I am the only once out of my class who has gotten this fair. I feel extremely lucky. My advice is continue the search. Most friends who graduated a year ago have been doing home care agency work and vaccines. I will say only thesl persistant folks are getting those jobs. And now their resume shows they arent new nurses anymore hence they are getting call backs for vnsy and other more well known agencies. Unfortunately not hospital jobs. Make connections with people at job fairs or other venues in which you can interact and make a personal connection. During these times its gonna take unconventional ways to acquuire a start in the career you are coveting. The hard work will pay off. The universe is good to us like that. ;)I wish you lots of luck and positive energy. Please think creatively!!
  19. Hi shortykingMy mother works there and I mentioned my adoration for the hospital and its administrators in the email i sent to the hospital administrators. This was pure luck! I recommend going outside the box. Motivate yourself to find the locations of recrutors or administrators maybe where u had clinicAls and tell them you really enjoyed the hospital philosophy and want to follow up from applications you put thru online. Alot of times the receptionist will tell u that you have to apply online and they will call you. But you can definitely be more demanding and wait to speak to somone above them or say you have and you need to follow up! Alot of nurse friends of the associates programs are getting connections or call backs from a connection they made or knew of not from just applying to the hospitals. Im sory to tell you that. For 2 months iv been putting in applications into the abyss with no word as to what they think of me or sometimes i get a "no thank you, well keep u on file'' response. Stay strong and continue to network. I encourage you to attend job fairs. There is one in long island this tuesday and connect with hospitals and administrators on linkedin.com also. Good luck my friend and always feel free to pm me.
  20. i dont know about mskcc but i wish you the best of luck.
  21. Renee, i am in the same boat as you. i wish you the best of luck...i managed to get an interview at a brooklyn hospital by emailing the chief nursing officer telling him about my qualifications, it landed me the interview for next week...its all i'v gotten since march 5th when I get my license in NYS... Many of my friends who graduated in may of last year are still looking while they complete their bsn. I am almost done with bsn, should be completed by june 2013. I also went a got ACLS certified and took a volunteer gig at a hospital for a short while. best of luck
  22. Hey fellow nurses. i am surprised to not find much recent activity about anyone who has had experience with interviewing or currently working at maimonides hospital. I have an interview next week which is AMAZING, since I am an associates degree nursing student who is have way done with BSN and landed this interview. I am curious to know about how their interviews go, orientations, where do they place new grads first, how often do they bring in new nurses, salary starting price, etc... Any information or insight into the envirnoment or interview process or anything about maimonides hospital in brooklyn would be greatly appreciated. thank you
  23. @shortyking I think based on what you said, things went smooth and the bonus was the old boss was your professor connection. Hospitals take their time with decisions. I hope to hear soon the good news you got the job. please keep us updated. i too am in the interviewing phase with a hospital and would like to continue to hear what unfolds. have a good day and good luck.
  24. I am taking my nclex exam on Monday. I have been applying for hospital jobs, Long term care jobs, nursing homes, clinics, Home care agencies etc... This is the new reality for nursing. Do not expect a MedSurg position right out of school. I am a second Career person, 30 male who completed an Associates degree. Though I am currently enrolled in a Bachelors and am anticipated to graduate in the spring of 2013, It is a touch market here in NYC. I believe persistance, networking and continuous effort by even walking into hospitals and clinics, will land an interview so that I can land a job by the summer. If your someone who is not finding something and its been a year, moving or doing something else, like a certification as a CNA can land you a job in a hospital where you can have an opportunity to meet nurse managers and let them know that you are a great worker, will eliminate the barrier in landing that interview. Please stay positive and hopefully soon I will have a success story to share by this summer.
  25. AFter reading this thread, i have decided to work on my resume and start applying. Thank you for your help.
