I took the test in 2016. I was told by other employees that they will begin to call you to offer interviews before you receive notice in the mail. That's how it happened for me. Olive View called a few days after I took the test and then I received written verification that I had passed the test in the mail weeks later. This was years ago so I'm not quite sure if this is still applicable. Good Luck

Sorry this has taken so long to respond, my account was frozen. I have tried LTC, due to covid they aren't really hiring near me. Thank you so much. I am trying even as we speak to get into one of those programs. I just finished my BSN.

I want to 1st say my journey into nursing is far from traditional. I graduated from nursing with my 2 year degree in 2015, passed the nclex in 2016, started my 1st job in 2017 and due to an unforeseen circumstance(parent illness) I had to resign after a little over 10 months in 2018. I didn't realize that not having 2 more months would cause me so many problems getting back to work. I've applied to so many hospitals and have been told that because I didn't stay for those 2 months to make a year I'm considered to not have enough experience. I decided to go back and get my BSN in the meantime and should be done in summer 2020. My question is how do I get back in? I realize now that 10 months of med/surge experience isn't considered a lot, but it has to count for something. I'm not a bad person, I was in a tough situation and life just sort of happened in the worse way. My ultimate goal is to work for the VA but for right now I just want to return to nurse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I do realize this is a old thread, and I apologize if this question has been asked, but can anyone give me any advice on how to pass the WSA test? I take it Friday morning and it seems that I am having major trouble because I'm not doing very good on the practice test:-( I've been out of school for some time, and timed test scare me the most. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi beens, I'm in a similar position except I failed the 1st try. I graduated in August and tested in December. I test again at the end of April. I started uworld yesterday and also I've been going over Hurst review which I took January 2014. Wish me luck.

Has anyone taken HCR 240 through Rio Salado? If so can you tell me a little about the class? Are there online lecture's? How many quizzes and test are there? Any info would be greatly appreciated:-) Thanks Crystal

Thanks azmom23 for replying again, I put in for a transfer for next semester, so I just have to wait and see. I really am trying to get into the accelerated program.

Does anyone out there that is either in one of the Maricopa Colleges Nursing program now or newly graduated, know how the final exams work? I am asking because I haven't had to take a comprehensive exam in years and was wondering if most of the same information that was on the 4 quizzes throught the semester or is it the same material just other questions? Also were any of you give a review? Thank you Crystal

I still dont know what I'm doing wrong:-( my second test is on Wednesday, and I'm so scared because of how bad I did on the first test. I read this post weeks before I started school and felt so confident, but everything is going down hill for me:-) maybe this isn't for me. I guess it's a good thing I know now and not wait till I'm at the end of the semester and flunk out. Good luck to everyone who's doing so well.

I hear ya, I'm trying to locate a program back in southern california where I'm from, but I have a long way to even worry about that I don't even start the nursing program next Tuesday.

Hey miteacher I also have a BS and I am planning on going to get my MSN after I finish the community college route, I was just curious to know where you plan on getting your RN to MSN degree? I have been looking a lot into University of Phoenix but I wasn't sure if there were any other options. University of Arizona will start up there program for RN to MSN in January 2012 but they want you to have worked for at least 2 years before you can enter, and I want to start as soon as possible.

First, dat1girlRN2b and gcat626 RN thank you both so much. Your absolutely right I dont need those kinds of people in my life and have cut most of them out anyway. The other person happens to be my mom who has been a nurse for over 10 years and is just concerned that with 3 small children it will be virtually impossible for me to make it. She was also the same person who told me that after leaving college in 1997 to come home because I couldn't take it there anymore, I would never go back to college because I would become to complacecent at home. Well I have a Master's degree now:-) so even my mom's comments I keep at bay. I do want to be a nurse and really want to succeed. My fear with nursing school to be honest is just of the unknown. My other degrees are in subjects that just made sense to me, and sometimes with nursing there are more horor stories than success stories and its just scarey. I did take your advice though, went onto the website and emailed the block 1 professor, so I guess we will see. Thank you again so much P.S. gcat626 RN, I dont know what your ultimate goal or plan is in nursing, but I would say you may want to look into teaching in some form. I was really down on myself today I was even contemplating calling the school and using my 1 time deferral and just start in the spring, and when I read your post, I got chills. I was so encouraged. Only a person who genuinely cares about people(nursing students) would have started this thread and the nursing profession needs instructors especially the ones who care:-)

Hi there, thank you so much for this post, I am scared to death and have been told by several people I wont make it at all:-( I dont know if this has been asked, but I have been out of school for some time and when I went to orientation on the 3rd we weren't given a syllabus yet, but we were told we had to read 9 chapters before school starts on the 23rd. So right now I have no idea what they want us to know. Can you go into a little more detail on how to take notes from the book if your not quite sure what they want you to know yet? To be honest with you, I really was going to defer then I thought to myself I have been waiting this long to wait some more? No way so I faxex n my letter with only a few days left to make a choice. It doesn't make it any easier that for some strange reason PCC is the only nursinf department that is closed till august 8th. So the only person who can help you there now is the secretary, but she was really nice.

ckh3 thanks for the advice, CRNA was always my ultimate dream job. I was just trying to get some information about school who would have first hand knowledge. I dont know about other programs but here in Arizona there is only 1 school that offers the program and after talking to an advisor today she made it very clear you cant work because you need to devote your life to the program. Another reason I posted this thread is the program here requires you to be in other states when your second year starts. szeles23 thanks for the info I will definatey look into that schoo:D

Thanks so much ChocoholicRN for responding. I am no where near ready to enter the program, but I have small children and was just wondering how it all works since I would have to pay out of pocket and may have to move all of us to another state at some point during the program. Thanks again

I was wondering if any current CRNA's or CRNA students knew of any programs that still allow you the time to work? If so where? Just asking because the state I live in, the only program here made it clear to me that you cant work while in school. Since I will be paying for this degree out of pocket I was wondering if any programs existed that may not be full time that would allow students to still maintain their nursing jobs? Hi there, my time stamp was 10/16/09 8:03:10 am and on July 12th I was placed at PCC for a August 22nd start date. Prior to that I was called unofficially to start at CGCC and GWCC accelerated but decided not to take either of those because I was called to start a week before school started. I tried calling dps and they had no idea about students having to apply for level 1 clearance card. Even on their website is list the people who would potentially be applying for a level 1 card and nursing students nor current nurses are on that list. Only time will tell what they plan on doing with this newly imposed rule.

Well unless they plan on refunding everybody currently in who cant get a level 1 I dont see it affecting them. They still sound a bit unsure about what's going on. I just talked to my advisor and she said they meet on this next week. She also said the same thing it may affect current students but to what extent she has no clue. I think it may affect people who are going to be called for Spring semester to give them enough time to apply for one. I didnt see any September start dates for cohorts just May-August of 2011. I think thats another reason they said September 1st. Who know's though if it isnt this then it will be something else with MCCD because I dont think they are asking this of the students at ASU.

Maybe I read it wrong I thought it only impacts the individuals who will be admitted after or on September 1, 2011. The last FAQ says if you were already admitted prior to September 1, 2011 or currently a student you will have to sign a form and you must abide by the background requirements that were in place when you were admitted which I believe was just the regular finger print clearance card info. I still dont know yet because the district office wont pick up the phone.
