Breaking into the aesthetic world in Rhode Island
Hello All, I am an RN living and currently working as a visiting nurse in Rhode Island. I have taken a Botox injection course and received a certificate for it, through ESI, Esthetic Skin Institute. Rhode Island being a tiny little state, it seems to be very difficult to break into this field. I have applied to many Dermatologist and Plastic Surgeons offices and no one seems to be hiring! I did get a job offer from Ideal Image, they train you and start you out with learning the laser at $18/hr!!! I could not work for that..I'm an RN! So of course I did turn that job offer down. I am wondering if anyone has any tips, help, or connections to offer. I am a very hard working individual, with great communication skills, who loves the field of plastics!

My NCLEX story...8th times a charm!
Thank you and good luck to you as well. It's nice (sort of) to know that I'm not the only one in this position. Sometimes it feels like I am. So many times I hear people say NCLEX is so easy. To me it's not!!! Feels like its going to be the death of me. Even more frustrating I've been out of school for 2 years now! I wish NCLEX was specialized to which type of nursing you want to practice..for me esthetics :) I wish everyone the very best and hope everyone succeeds even if it takes a few times :)

My NCLEX story...8th times a charm!
Is this my life?! Thanks for sharing :) I'm going to test next month for my third and hopefully final time. I have had the frustration, depression and readiness to give up. I have literally been sick to my stomach over not passing. I'm now getting over that and rebuilding confidence. I WANT THIS MORE THAN ANYTHING!! Congratulations to you and wish you the best with your nursing career!!

Thank you for the tips. Do you happen to know if the NCSBN's study guide you can purchase goes over the new format?

Re-taking NCLEX RN with new format
Hi, I am a repeat test taker for NCLEX RN. The previous time I took it was with the old format. I am now just beginning to study again and I know there is a new format. Any good tips/advise for me? And what is the difference between the old format and new one? This is so frustrating for me...but I can't give up. Also, I am in Massachusetts if anyone would like to study or knows a good tutor...Thank you!

HURST REVIEW....REVIEW
Exam Cram is a study book by Pearson. There is a content book and a practice question book.

HURST REVIEW....REVIEW
When I was studying for NCLEX I mostly used the Hurst review; even attended a live review. Really enjoyed their enthusiasm; needless to say i failed NCLEX. It is very broad, they do not go in depth with patho which is something that I need. Also, their questions and practice test I found to be much easier than NCLEX questions. Many people in my class also agreed with this, however some people did pass using Hurst Review and some did not. This time around I will probably barely open the book to study from. I personally find Exam Cram much better. Everyone is different though!! Good luck to you!!

My question is how many percentage do i need to pass the nclex..
yess the last 60 questions are only graded if you run out of time on the test; and it is in the pamphlet they hand out. It's also confusing to me too being an adaptive test how they can do this. I think everyone's best bet is to take your time on each question and answer it the best you can and to NOT focus on the time.

My question is how many percentage do i need to pass the nclex..
Question... If you run out of time, you only are graded on the last 60 questions you did. Do you think it would then be wise to do 75 questions and let the timer run out; so that it only grades the last 60? I was thinking about this strategy but I'm not sure how good it would work out. I don't think there is any way to 'out smart' NCLEX (lol).

RNQuiz.com, anyone using this site?
chevyv, Yes I am currently using rnquiz.com I love the content part of it. It is in a nice easy way to understand. The questions though are not like NCLEX questions; they are much easier. More comparable to questions that you may get in nursing school on a test. But $50 for a year is not bad, that's why I also signed up for it. Good luck! :)

Failed NCLEX RN
sunflowerross, THANKS so much for the advice! I'm going to start by doing way more practice questions and reading the rationales behind them. I don't know who created the smileys but i love them! I also had a good friend of mine pass on the first try who barely studied; as I was putting mucho time in. Oh well..I decided never to give up on something that I want; I will be studying a lot but also allow time for my brain to relax! Good luck to you!! I'm sure you did fine; confidence is key and please let me know the results of your exam yesterday. Hopefully you will be  (partying) lol this weekend with great news! Best of luck!!
