Average UNLV acceptance score?
I think you have a really good chance!! The pool of students varies each semester so it really depends on other's scores as well. It's a competition of whom gets the highest scores. It is up to you whether you want to give it another try and aim higher. I'm not sure if there is a penalty in taking Hesi A2 twice. I suggest you call UNLV PreNursing Dept. But Im almost positive you'll get in!!! Good Luck!!

Question about UNLV
Yeah. I think that they should let you off since it was 10 years ago, I mean, here in Cali, they don't even accept Science courses that's taken 5 years ago, so anyone are allowed to take it again and do better this time around..

Question about UNLV
Great to know!! Thank you so much! 25K sounds fairly reasonable. I thought that it takes 6 months to register for NCLEX? can we register for NCLEX 6 months in advance before we even get our diploma? Please tell me how you got the Apprentice Nurse job?..

UNLV, budget issues, nursing schools
Yeap, I've heard about the shortage, and the budget cut, but California has already enforced all its budget cuts. Programs had been cut. My plan was to start nursing school this Spring 2010, but I all the Universities were canceled!!!... Ruined all the plans and efforts I have done!.. I'm glad it happened though, b/c then I would have never thought about UNLV! with their perfect 16 months accelerated program, I couldn't ask for anything better!! it's a nice school too! =) Im from Cali and will be going to UNLV for the program. And I guess with all these issues, I'll probably want my license in Cali as well.. Hopefully by next year, everything gets better. I saw some scholarships that gives you money for College, as long as you promise to work Fulltime for 2 years in Vegas?!!...

Question about UNLV
Those were the deadlines.. Im almost positive W counts as a repeat.. hmm... you should really try to call the pre-nursing dept. If W count as a repeat and you got a D on the last one, then that makes you ineligible. As far as competition... I dont know yet b/c I dont really know the application pool this sem. I can tell you my statistics, however. I got all A's and 1 B in all prerequisites that's listed on the 2nd link I sent you (Score Calculation worksheet.) All were taken @ first attempt. HesiA2 score: 90 yes.. I got in the Program and I will start this May.. ummm.. if you're ineligible now, I'm not sure if you can still apply.. Im not sure if there's any time rules, but I read somewhere in this website that once you're not eligible you can longer apply...

Question about UNLV
Thanks! how was the program? How soon were you able to find a job or pass NCLEX? I was curious and I checked your previous posts and you have 60K off of loans? is that from when you started College or Nursing Program?.. it's my first semester and I already owe 6K.... I'm beginning to worry b/c I'm an out of state student, and a single mom.... I guess once you start working, loans won't be so bad.... and yes, I recently found out about the Summer Aid too.. I'm so excited to start the program!! =D

Question about UNLV
it should be on the application form itself. Here's the link: http://nursing.unlv.edu/pdf/bsn%20pdfs/application_form_SON.pdf July 1for spring , Nov. 1 for Fall, Mar. 1 for Summer If you repeated A&P, Micro, Nurs 299 (which is Nutrition and Human Dev.), and Math more than twice and did not achieve a B, then you are ineligible.. You can contact the prenursing advisers.. This should all be in the website. You can call or email them too.. Here's the link for admission criteria/scoring guide http://nursing.unlv.edu/pdf/bsn%20pdfs/hesi-a2_calculation_worksheet_08-09.pdf

Question about UNLV
The deadline is actually under the BSN page not the pre-nursing. Go to BSN link then click Application Process. Being a CNA doesn't add any points in your score though, unlike in California. The program is competitive. It's all about GPAs and scores. Make sure u do well on the HesiA2 since you repeated A&P. 3.5 Sounds really good!! Goodluck to you! =)

HESI Admissions Assessment Test at UNLV??
Yes. I read it somewhere in the website last year.. Some hospitals offer scholarships to nursing students. For some reason I can't find it anymore.. Try calling the dept.
-
HESI Admissions Assessment Test at UNLV??
You can find it on the website. nursing.unlv.edu ... you'll need Grammar, A&P, Reading, and Math... Good luck!=)
-
Question about UNLV
Yeah.. I heard that the Hesi was so much easier than the NET. Right now the averages are in the 70s.. still horrible. With that in mind, 94 points should get you through!... Like you mentioned, last sem's range was 84-103.. Well.. soon we'll find out... .
-
Question about UNLV
Oh I forgot to mention.. you know when you look at our Hesi A2 test results online, there's a class average --- I was told that that's the average for all UNLV pre-nursing students who took them... Another thing that makes me feel good... all my scores were above avg... I just wonder how many students actually took them... hmm

Question about UNLV
Sorry took me a while to respond to this. My old laptop broke and now I got the new macbook! It's pretty amazing. =D.. Anyway.. I just finished my Grammar test couple hours ago and I got a 92!! you did better than me! hehe.. well, I really appreciate you telling me these statistics. True, it depends on the pool of students but at least a have a better idea this time.. I have yet to find a place to live in Vegas. I have never even been in Vegas. I have a lot of planning to do, so knowing my chances is really important so I can plan accordingly. So, now I have a total of 104...s:rolleyes: Here in Cali, they don't accept Science grades taken 5 years ago. Bad advising can really ruin you. I've had some bad advising myself 3 years ago. Wasted 1 semester taking classes I don't really need. I think that we both have a really good chance! ... I guess we're supposed to find out by Mar. 22?!.... =D...

Question about UNLV
lol.. that's what I was thinking... =D.. well.. I finally decided to calculate my score and if I get at least 75 (which I have to) on the grammar.. I would get a 101.8!!??!??! .. I think.... I think I calculated it correctly... for the hesi part... add overall hesi + 4 other scores divided by 8.75 right?.... ehhhh.. that's making me feel too confident. Not a good sign.. I might have calculated it wrong... yeah that's it... By the way.. how did you find out about last semester's statistics? I kept asking the nursing department to give me the statistics they keep telling me.. it varies every semester. Which I know is true... but I kept asking what was the lowest score they accepted and they never gave me a straight answer.. =( ... I invested so much time and money trying to get into UNLV.. I really hope it pays off... I mean.. I could be on break right now if I want to transfer to one of the Universities here in California.. but instead, Im taking 13 units, paying out of state tuition, and hesi testing expenses.... sighhh.. I would be crushed... yeap... I really really want to go to UNLV... ='[

Question about UNLV
how can you score 103 on the Hesi??... Great job btw!! =] well hopefully my 80s would get me through.... Sighhh.... I need all the luck too!! The only way I can score an overall 90 on the Hesi is if I get a 100 in the Grammar... which I doubt! lol.. I mean.. the math portion is easy coz you can test your answers.. Grammar can sometime throw you off.. Im still a little dizzy trying to learn Lie and lay! haha! well... fingers crossed!!... Did they tell you not to contact the Nursing Department regarding checking your application??

Question about UNLV
Hmmm.. so it's all about the scores ah.... This is making me more and more nervous! lol.. I'm taking the Hesi Grammar portion next week!.... If I get a 90 minimum, Im going to celebrate by buying myself an apple laptop... If not... well.. I have one more chance to take the exam, and apply in Fall. Hmmm... they have 8 sessions strictly? so that would mean... 80 people can only apply.. sorry if Im having trouble comprehending. Yeahh.. I hope all the smart people decide to apply in the Fall! smart people need summer break! lol. Goodluck to us! =)
-
Question about UNLV
Hmm.. Im not sure if I understood you correctly. You said only 80 people can apply this Summer 2010? so the reason why you didn't get in last sem was bcoz you were missing 2 classes?. I was going to apply this Spring 2010, but I was told I need to take classes at UNLV in order to apply, although I'm done with all my pre-requisites. Kinda confusing coz the website said, for transfer student who's above 3.0 may apply, and bellow 3.0 will have to take classes at UNLV. and I have above 3.0... oh well, I'm under the pre-nursing advisers so I'll have to listen to them, they know they're stuff, so no worries. So were you able to sign up for summer 2010 before they told you it was filled? Thanks for the kind remarks. I feel better now.. hehehe.. But... still.. dont wanna keep my hopes to high!.... I hate the feeling of disappointment...

Question about UNLV
Hey, Lyngotnabac.. I did awful in the Vocab section. I was so upset that I was forced to take it.. so I just skimmed through them to get it over with. lol. Unlike you, I am very worried about other students grades. Their grades pretty much decides whether or not Im getting in or not. Unless I get all 100s, then I dont have to worry. I finished all my prerequisites and I have all A's except for Physio- B, all are taken once. I'm worried with my B.. and my Hesi scores are 80, 83, and 100,.... I really hope I did AT LEAST 75 on the grammar.. OR better!.... I live in California right now, so Im taking some of the General requirements online... and never been to UNLV, OR Vegas... so if EVER I get it, I'll be a loner. lol. How did you know less people apply for the summer? that sounds interesting, although, it does make sense. I'd rather apply for fall myself, because there is no financial aid in the summer, and I still have to pay out of state tuition, meaning... 8thousand$$ more... but I just wanna finish asap... I have applied this summer.. Sorry if I was asking too many private questions.. I just really wanted to know my chances... so I can plan accordingly. and you pretty much is the only Nursing student I know thus far. I applied to 3 other schools here in California but they're all 2 years long. =( and way way way way more competitive.. as in.. 500 people apply and only 40-50 get accepted..

Question about UNLV
Hey ... I sent you a message. Have you taken the Hesi yet?, Im so nervous about taking the rest of it.. sighh...

Cal state nursing questions??
Cool! I plan to minor in Philosophy. I do speak Tagalog fluently =D, and speak Ilocano as well.. There's only one language in the Philippines tho, you probably meant "and one of the dialects". I really hope I get in, I like to think I'm pretty competitive, however, because of the budget cut, and the fact that a lot of students couldn't apply in spring, then surely, the competition this fall is double. Sigh... btw, does CSUB require interviews? if so, please tell me how yours went! =D
