  1. Does anyone know which campus is better? I must reply today and I haven't heard anything about either one. Why did y'all select the campus you did. Thank you!!!!
  2. How did you get into both? Im in at jefferson but want shelby. Does anyone know if shelby is harder?
  3. Hey, Did anyone get a phone call yet? They usually call before sending the letters. Good luck to all! :)
  4. Hey ~ What "calculations packet" are y'all referring to? I don't think I have that, can you advise? Thanks so much!!!
  5. Woo Hoo!!! I expected a longer wait, what great news!!
  6. As I understand it, this is the first semester Jeff State is using the TEAS test. Here is the breakdown (I think).... Minimum GPA to be considered: 2.5 based on the last 25 hours. If you have that, then they will calculate points. Science classes: 90 points possible Compass Test: 99 points possible Math: 11 points possible TEAS test: 150 points possible. (100%=150 points; 66%= 99 points, etc.) Hope this helps.
  7. Good luck!!! Your test scores are awesome! How many total points do you have? I have 280, I'm not so sure I made the cut. I really want to take the TEAS test again. How did you prepare for it?
  8. Oh no !!! I took the TEAs test this past Friday and got 66% = 99 points. I wish I had time to study and retake. I am so afraid I don't have the points! I believe my total points is 280. Does everyone have over 300 points? Does anyone know how many are admitted? This is going to be a very long wait!!
  9. That's great to hear! I am leaning towards that Campus. Thanks so much!
  10. I'm so confused. I heard the Shelby Campus was better but I think I was reading an old post. As of 2010 which campus do y'all think is better? or has the higher pass rate for nursing board exam?
  11. Congratulations on your score! I am scheduled to take it in two weeks but I don't think I am ready. How did you prepare? Which study material do you think was best? Did you memorize all the words?
  12. In what was do you feel the market has drastically changed? (aside from the example you mentioned-which is great info) Example: Difficulty finding jobs? Competitive market? Salary changes? Less than expected working conditions etc.??? Thanks!
  13. I would want a nurse like you taking care of my sick baby. Thanks for being a nurse!!!!
  14. How have your classes been so far? When do you think you will apply to uab?
  15. Ahhhh, yes indeed it can screw with smart decision-making for women as well. (pun intended). Palm beach is a hoot. Have fun. Thx again.
  16. That is very good to know. Matriculation has humbled me a great deal....I will prepare for more. I had a high-pressure, high-profile, high paying job in manhattan for 13 years....but after so many years I wanted a change. Moved back down south to start anew. Most people think I am nuts to do this but I feel strongly about job security. And the idea of having autonomy, ability to live in most cities other than NYC, LA and using my brain will be great. So, thank you again sharing your experience about USA. USA was my second choice for schools. After hearing your stories, think I need to add a few more schools my list. Currently UAB is 1st choice. And I'm researching others. Not alot out there from what I can see. Did you select USA because of the accelerated BSN program? I see you are now in Miami. Did you ever consider UAB or Samford for CRNA training? Thanks again. I'll stop asking questions soon. I promise
  17. MiamiAnesthesiaCRNA, My main motivations are autonomy, salary, job security/freedom, intellectual properties. However, I don't yet know if I love anesthesia. When did you know you enjoyed anesthesia enough to sustain you through the training? Also you mentioned one should be prepared to be humbled on a daily basis. Does that refer to the work environment? or school environment? (both?). Can you be more specific? Lastly, thank you thank you thank you! Two Pups
  18. MiamiAnesthesiaCRNA, You are a rock star! Great info. Why did you become a CRNA? Autonomy? Intellectually stimulating? Did you ever consider Administration? Nursing is a 2nd career for me as well and I plan on jumping right into a Masters program after 2nd BSN. Thanks so much!
  19. Hi Everyone, By now you are all well into or have almost completed the USA Accelerated program. Do you recommend it? Would you do it again? I am currently weighting all of my options and would so appreciate any input!! Thanks in advance and congratulations! :)
  20. Hi all, I am stuck and would very much appreciate your advice! I am currently taking the necessary prerequisites (at Faulkner Birmingham) with the intention of beginning the 2nd degree BSN program at UAB next Spring. I still need to take Chemistry, Nutrition and Finite. Ideally I would like to take these at UAB but I heard Chemistry in particular was very difficult and I must keep up my A's in order to get financial assistance (long story). 1. Is it true that these classes are more difficult at UAB? 2. Are there other schools in the Birmingham area I can take these classes and transfer them to UAB? 3. I've seen discussions about Chemistry on-line but not sure how it works? And if will transfer. Can you advise? I would so appreciate any advise/knowledge/experiences you may have. Thank you in advance! Two Pups ~
  21. Great questions Cookderosa! I am looking forward to the responses.
  22. Do you mean the 2nd degree BSN program? or accelerated MSN?
  23. I understand how frustrating it can be! I too have a similar situation. Here is a thought- make all A's in your upcoming sciences classes and take the GRE (which you will need anyway). If you score well perhaps you can enter directly into a master's program. (?)
  24. Hi NMB IVP, I have questions for you, I hope you don't mind and have the time. Thanks you in advance!!!! 1.Where are these on-line BSN courses? I am taking my prerequisites now. I was told that I could start Fall or Spring but I REALLY need to begin in Fall. I didn't realize on-line was a real option. (Bit naive to this as it's been awhile since my last college degree) 2.Also, did you find work immediately after becoming a RN? 3.How long did you work as a nurse before applying to CRNA? 4. Did you have other certifications? Thank you again. All the best, two pups
  25. Do you know exactly which science courses they review? I ask because I will have 2 degrees with lots of science (too many!!). I'm fairly certain it is microbiology, A&P but what other classes? Do/did you like the program? Thank you!
