  1. In Springfield MO. Started at $10.75 in a clinic. Making $13.50 in a chilcare center for special needs children:\ Starting RN school in the fall! LOL! RNs here start about $17.75 (hospital)
  2. I LOVED my peds rotation in school. I applied for a PRN position while still in school, and started right after graduation. From there I was offered a FT position. I've only been out of school since July '10, but I've worked in Peds since! (Currently as a school nurse for a childcare center that focuses on children with physical and developmental delays.)
  3. I do not envy your specialty! Sorry I am of no real assistance other than a Good Luck!!
  4. ^^ Agreed with above posts, although they have been pretty interchangeable in my experience.. meaning I've heard both. I prefer EKG, though. and LOL at b-line!
  5. Glad to see that you have taken the right path and are on your way back!
  6. Can someone please PM me (I can't figure it out!) on the info with ISU? I am desperate to find an online LPN-RN program, and TCN and Exselsior have had such bad reviews.. I really don't want to get screwed over, but I need to be able to work my full time job AND work on my degree!! Is there any way to go through ISU and NOT through TCN? Thanks!!
  7. You better believe if I get my doctorate in Nursing I will be Dr. ___! just like my brother in law is a "Dr." of math. like other's said, that is an earned title..
  8. So i looked it up, and my state is under that "Nurse" protection law... And to make it clear I can't really confront her, cause I don't work in the same office, but a friend does.
  9. I agree- however those are symptoms/changes in condition, not diagnosis. You wouldn't tell the physician that the pt has developed CHF, but rather the symptoms that you have observed. KWIM? It's not within our scope of practice as nurses to do so.
  10. I have no idea.. I do know that I worked my butt off to become a nurse though! I felt kinda bad for my friend that i went through nursing school with, though, 'cause she was in orientation to be a float nurse in the same office. Which this MA knew. So she was basically putting herself up on that pedastool. Whatever, you know? I mean I'm a nurse, but I know that I am not an RN, or a NP for that matter! Maybe thats a little overboard, but I'm still a little sensitive. hehe
  11. Agreed- you aren't the one diagnosing, the physician will be. Are you talking about Nursing Diagnosis? If so, get a book! I have Mosby's and its great!
  12. I started applying about 1.5m before graduating. I had interviews about 3 weeks out, and offered a job three days before graduation :)I graduated on July 29th, started on Monday the 9th of August (was going to start the 2nd but was on vacation!) and take my boards August 25th!
  13. So Monday I was in a system-wide orientation for my new job as an LPN. I just graduated (so technically until i take my boards and pass.. I'm a GPN). Anyway- there was a girl in our orientation that was an MA, and said she was a nurse at her Dr's office. I was a little taken a-back by this! Call me a brat but I went through a lot to get IN to nursing school, make the grades and graduate to be able to call myself a NURSE! Does this bother anyone else??

So you DID have a CXR? If so, did it show the encapsulated TB? If it did, then you were definitely a positive. This shouldn't harbor you from entering Nursing School, as one of my instructors popped positive on a TB test and had to do the whole she-bang. I wouldn't worry about the antibiotics.
  15. We took the HESI last week. We didn't really prepare for it because we were just a 'trial' group because out school is looking in to using it for admissions. It was pretty easy if you've taken all of the needed pre-req's. Study up on Chemistry, Biology, A&P and it also has basic grammar. There is also a critical thinking section. Good luck! And don't stress out!
