  1. So they didn't ask questions such as, Why you want tob e a nurse, or why this program or anything like that. I was preparing for intergation, with them in my face asking what I was doing on the eve of 24th of April.:chair::rotfl: Thanks so it is pretty competitive to get in and keep that special seat you worked so hard on and for.
  2. I am applying to the program in the near future and was wondering how many seats are there at Paris Junior college in their Nursing program. Where there any hard questions to anwser on the application?
  3. Wow, it makes you wonder why so many of us want to be nurses after reading this. LOL!
  4. Well, I'm glad to that there's another mother out there in my situation. I'm really looking forward to getting into my nursing program. I don't really know much about my nursing program here, just hear say.
  5. No, I have to take human A&p 1 and 2, I only have to have 1 completed, to apply, then nutrition, phsycology, English, and the microbiology.
  6. I'm applying for nursing in Jan 2011. Thats the only time my school does it.
  7. Has anyone gone through this before? I have heard of many people being scared out of being a nurse because of a close friend dying, and not understanding if they should gone on with there life.
  8. I lost a dear friend tonight. She was killed in a car accident, she left behind a 2 year old little boy, and a family that loved her dearly. After hearing the shocking news, I began to reexaminee the idea of being a nurse. I have never like being around death, but have had the affectionate and a caring heart to aid people. I know this happens on a daily basis. However, how do you overcome a lost like this? Should I reconsider being a nurse? I'm worriedd of what the future may hold if I do become one and then also if I don't. I know that this is my decision to make, I'm just scared and hurt.
  9. thanks, i heard some nursing students talking about it. i should had asked.
  10. What is it, what does it do? How many do I need to be accepted into nursing program.
  11. i'm also curious about Pjc and the point system.
  12. Is anyone studying for NET now, even if it's a while before you can take it? I bought a study guide and wondering if it's stupid of me to study it, when I'm not studying for somethign else, or have free time to study?
  13. why, i never thought about the tape recording, of course i have done to much thinking lately. lol my brain is in overdrive right now.
  14. That's sounds great. Since I'm a visual learner, I can do this myself and learn better. Because everything detracts me from studying or even homework.lol
  15. I'm glad i'm not the only one freaking out of that test. I haven't even signed up for it,and I'm freaking out over it, and I still havea while before I can take it.
  16. i've just recently learned that if you know what kind of learner you are, that you'll do much better with your studying, and use your time right when it comes to studying. if the teacher doesn't teacher the way you learn then you find a way to learn it your way. that's what i have to do. i'm a visual/writer learner, i have to read, write it and it make things up to learn it my way. try to make those study cards as quickly after class as possible, than your not wasting time, when you can be studying. sorry this might not help, just it does me, when it come to studying and taking care of kids.
  17. i'm really lucky because th only preq. I need at my school is A&P 1 &2 general psy. Before I can apply for our nursing program, I'm just going ofr my LVN right now, might change my mind through. I'm so ready to start that I bought na Anatomy coloring book today, I was curious about the class, my hubby was lookin git and first words to come out of his mouth was EWW! Gross!. That's a man for you though.
  18. try using these tips, and it should help i know it has me. it helped me know what i needed to do, verus something that could wait until later. using time wisely you might have all the time in the world, but if you don't use it wisely, it won't help you to meet your goals. procrastination is a problem for many students. the following are tips to help you deal with this issue: clear your schedule. don't overextend yourself. recognize that your obligations and resulting stress are as important as other people's needs. set limits around being interrupted or rescheduling your work time to accommodate others. omit or reschedule some of your other obligations. you want to give full concentration to your studies without feeling guilty about what you're not doing. get motivated. create a work area that is free from distractions and commit to staying there for at least one to two hours. if you get side-tracked, remind yourself how this activity will help you to meet your goals. prioritize. what has to be done first? when is it due? what is worth more in terms of your grade? what is worth more in terms of your personal, educational, or career goals? make sure you understand the task. ask questions. get help if you need it. break down the task into chunks. estimate how much time you'll need to complete the task. don't try to do it all at one time. break it down so that it's "do-able" and not so overwhelming. stay up-to-date on assignments to help avoid overload. it doesn't have to be perfect. some people are so afraid that they won't perform perfectly, they won't do anything at all. make sure you understand the expectations of your instructor. then evaluate how important the task is and what level of performance is acceptable to you. then just do it! when you really hate it, try to make it as enjoyable as possible. work on this task first, while you have more energy. reward yourself when you complete certain aspects of the task. study with a friend. study environment once you have found the time to study, commit to a time and place that meets your needs. in order to do this, ask yourself whether the environment in which you are studying matches your learning style and preferences. based on your preferences, you should schedule your most challenging classes and intense study sessions in the environments that best match your needs. the following are some aspects of study environment you may need to consider. time of day: whenever possible, you should schedule your most challenging courses and most intense study sessions during the time of day when you are most alert. ask yourself if you are more alert/productive during the morning, mid-day, or evening and schedule accordingly. grouping: do you prefer to learn or study alone, in small groups, or in large classes? if your prefer small groups, do not sign up for large classes. try to get into classes where the instructor uses group activity as a teaching strategy. form study groups to prepare for tests and exams. posture/mobility: some people prefer to sit at a table or desk (formal posture) in order to concentrate and study effectively. others are able to learn more easily while sitting comfortably on a sofa or lying on the floor (informal). still others need to move about in order to learn, and reading while walking on a treadmill might be appropriate. further, some people have the ability to sit and study for long periods of time (high persistence), while others need to take frequent breaks (low persistence). recognizing your posture and mobility needs will help you to plan where and when you should study. sound: contrary to popular belief, not everyone needs to study in a perfectly quiet environment. however, if you do choose to study to music, choose baroque classical music. the tempo and instrumentation of this music seems to be most compatible with study and learning. lighting: studies have shown that some people become depressed because of light deprivation during the winter months. if you are one of those people, you should try to study and spend as much time as possible in highly lit places. other studies have shown that reading ability can be affected by the light contrast between print and paper color. there is a high contrast between black letters printed on white paper. some people find it easier to read black print on blue or gray paper which has less contrast and is easier on their eyes. being aware that light does make a difference, you should study in the environment that best matches your learning preferences. temperature: while you can't always control the temperature of a room, you should be aware of your preference for either a cool or warm environment. dress in layers so that you can adjust to differences in classroom temperatures. choose to study in the environments in which you feel most comfortable.
  19. I'm going back to school to get my LVN, then my RN, my hubby is the same way, and i have four kids. Im in the same situation as you. So we can help each other supermom.
  20. I am taking it this fall, and I have already began studying for it. I hope we can help each other out, God knows Ill need it. lol!
  21. I have started to study, and even started on my own notes, to add to my lecture notes. I'm so excited, but also so scared to even start, because I'm afraid that I'll fail and make a fool out of myself. so yes I have started studying. I been reading the chapters over and over, to see if I might have missed anything. I read it so much that I have could probably tellign you every sentence in the chapter. You just need to find your style of studying, Try reading a chapter, and then try answering some practice questions to see if it has sunk in.
  22. I would like to know who is all taking A&P1 this fall so we can keep tabs with each other and help each out!:typing I know many of us would like everyones and help if we havea question.
  23. I'm also taking A&P 1 this fall, I know from the start that I'm going to look like a deer caught in headlights. I just hope I can pass this class. my goal is an A in the class. I beleive it's the name that scares all of us. However, when we get into the class and learn, it's easier than we think it is. I hope this helps, and you do well.
