Westmoreland-Latrobe/LaRoche College
I am currently in my third week of classes at said school. There is much studying to do in order to comprehend the concepts being taught. It is nothing like undergrad school. Clinicals do not start until January. So far so good. Tests begin next week. Good luck with your interview!

When One Child Is Enough
This article appropriately describes the "slippery slope" of declining morals, and and disrespect for the sanctity of human life that is rampant in our nation today. What a shame!!

What was the MOST ridiculous thing a patient came to the ER for?
This will really get your goat -the women's shelter sent the woman in by ambulance, and dropped off more people in our waiting room (mother and 2 children) infected with head lice! There has to be a way to stop this nonsense of abusing the system. Needless to say, they probably waited 2-21/2 hours to be seen. Given dc instructions on how to use quell, and sent back!

Emergency Room experience
The program that I was accepted into took ER experience as fulfilling their critical care criteria. They were also interested in gpa, charge nurse experience, recommendations, and how well I handled stress under pressure, to name a few items. I would recommend you call the schools you're interested in, and inquire about their critical care criteria. And if need be, transfer to ICU to get the experience they think you need. Good luck!

Cost of Living Issues
I too am a bit stressed about taking out loans, but really have no choice. I will also have to continue to work weekends to make ends meet, even though everyone I've spoken to is not keen on it. My husband is self employed, and I carry the health insurance (much cheaper). With four children (1 in college), we cannot do without health insurance. I have come to the conclusion: since God has opened the door for this opportunity to go to CRNA school, I'm walking through it! I'm positive times will be tough, but this too shall end--in 21/2 years. Blessings to all on your journey through school. Deb

RN License Reciprocity...
I was originally licensed in NY and moved to PA 3 years ago. It wasn't too difficult a matter to be licensed in PA. If I remember correctly, I called the PA State Board of Nursing to find out about the process. They sent me a packet of information and forms to fill out. It didn't take very long, and the cost was around $200. :) Good luck!

How do you pay for school?
I too have the same questions. I know that Stafford loans are available and Nelliemae for graduate students. Some groups, I've heard, also offer monthly stipends in return for a sign-on for a certain length of time.

new member...needs advice
Hi Steven I am an new member to this board also. I've just been accepted to anesthesia school in Greensburg Pa, where I live. The requirements for my school are BSN ( and license of course), critical care experience, a graduate level entrance exam (I took the MAT), references, ACLS, and PALS. My school was also interested in experience with charge nursing and precepting other new nurses. Hope this helps. Deb
