  1. Hmmm well I just started orientation this week too and at my institution the first week of it is all in the classroom setting. Second and third week is shadowing and taking patients with my preceptor starting with 3 and working my way up to 5, ; I'll work during my preceptors' hours for 12, 12 hour shifts. That's when the documentation, routines, and hands on comes in... Then after that I am on my own but I am assigned a mentor whom I can always go to if I have questions and such. If more time is needed with a preceptor after week 4 then they allow it :) I hope you enjoy your new job. Let us know how the rest of orientation goes -Abi
  2. I too graduated spring of '09 and I juuuuuust got hired on a tele floor. I got licensed in July so it took me about 8 MONTHS to land something. Believe me, something will come up. I was almost about to board a plane to San Antonio TX for Army Nurse Corps training, and then a week before I receive a phone call from the institution. Not to mention, the hospital had my application since September. So keep doing what you're doing, but sometimes relocation may be the best thing.
  3. I totally know how you feel. I graduated in April and I have yet to find a job. I too applied everywhere in every area. This past Tues I met with an agent from a temp agency specifically for health care. They are completely free and can place you at different jobs/assignments so you can get experience. Maybe there are agencies like this where you live.
  4. Well I took mine on Monday and felt the exact same way. My computer shut off at 85 questions and I thought to myself, how could I have bombed it so bad?!?!? But I tried the trick and it worked for me. Got my passing results today :) I trust you did well, but keep us updated. Majority feel this way leaving the test center. I'll pray for you!
  5. Yea that's what I'm talking about. I will try it in about 3 days. And I'm assuming if nothing appears/says RN is not found that means I did not pass... Thanks so much!
  6. Ummm perhaps you can help me. I took my exam this morning, and I know I have to wait a couple of days, but can you tell me where exactly on the website you look/enter your name/SSN? Is there like a list or something. I apologize for my ignorance but I went to college in Iowa and things are completely different :) Thanks a bunch!
  7. Well, just sat for the test this am. Took about 2 hours and got 85 questions. Not feeling too hot about it, but I did try out the Pearson Vue "trick" and the pop came up and it did not let me resister again. However I'm in California and I think I saw a thread about the trick not being accurate in this state. Does anyone know if this is true?
  8. I take mine tomorrow at 8am. Let me know how it goes. I'll pray for all of us awaiting to take it.
  9. 2 of my friends took it in June and ended at 90 questions; both passed. I have faith you did as well. Let us know the verdict :)
  10. Congrats!! I love hearing updates like this :) I take mine July 6th and was also told to study infection control. Thanks and good luck with this new step in life!
  11. Congrats to you! All the hard work paid off. How long did it take you to answer 75? I am a very slow test taker. Pretty nervous about taking mine July 6th.
  12. I have also heard the NCLEX isn't as bad as the HESI. I havn't taken it yet, July 6th is my day, but I am the last one in my graduating class to take it, so they have all given me great advice. For some reason they said they were less nervous to sit for NCLEX than the HESI, and 22 out of 25 of my colleagues passed. Hopefully soon it will be 23. Good luck to you.
  13. I also heard there were a lot of contact precaution and infection control q's. I take mine July 6th and only started studying hard core about 2 weeks ago. Saunders is good, I also use NCLEX 3500. It's free online. I like the q's from there bc the answers aren't as obvious as the Saunders CD. Good Luck! We will be nurses soon!
  14. Congrats! It makes me feel better when I read things like this. I take my exam in a week. I too will try the pearson vue trick. :)
  15. My friend just took it this Monday and found out she passed on wed. She had 10 med calcs, and about 50% SATA. She stopped at 90 questions. Good luck and let us know!
