  1. It is so wonderful to read these responses! I'm a new nurse. So far my experience on a med-surg unit has been an emotional disaster. My fellow nurses with whom I work with are outstanding but I'm just not happy. I've been a GN on this unit since May 30th of this yr. and passed the the NCLEX on the 6th of July. My heart is with community/public health nursing but most of the positions require med-surgical experience. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO! Is this a hidden/written mandatory order that isnt mentioned to nursing students? Im so glad to know that I am not alone in feeling this way. I've been so discouraged lately. I'm going to complete this 1yr. med-surg experience and then move on to follow my heart, my passion, and my dreams in community nursing. Thanks for sharing your true feelings about med-surg. As of this very moment, I am encouraged!!!!!
  2. I noticed that the format ( priority questions, drug reactions, etc.) of the NCLEX questions were closer to Kaplan. I used both Saunders and Kaplan. I obtained more detailed information from Saunders. For me, Saunders' rationales were clearer. Saunders allowed me to grasp the concept of various topics (especially in my weak areas). Kaplan is all about stratagy! Hope this helps.
  3. Can someone tell me if they know of anyone who has had a strange # of questions for the NCLEX? I hear about people having 75, 100, 180, 230, etc. I had 90 questions. Anyone out there know if that's common or does that sound like bad news? I'm a nervous wreck! They told me that the HESI is a good indicator of how one will do on the NCLEX. I passed HESI the first time with a 955. I took the NCLEX earlier this week and I think I would rather take the HESI again. I walked out from taking the NCLEX feeling like a complete failure.
