Is associates in nursing useless now?
"I'm surprised that all of the people on the CSN waiting list aren't strongly suggesting you drop out in hopes that they get your spot" That is what I was thinking :-) LOL

CSN Spring 2011 RN Program
Not sure, but congrats on your score!! You did awesome !!

(not)Another LVN or RN post!
I also have gotten impatient with the wait to get into an RN program and contemplated just doing an LPN program then returning for an RN-LPN bridge, but after doing some research I have found that it is easier to get into the RN program at my school than to get into the RN-LPN bridge. The bridge program has fewer spots and is therefore way more competitive. I think you should stick it out and wait for the RN program, and work as a CNA if you need to. Just my

Anatomy & Physiology: experiences?
If you are allowed to tape the lectures, I HIGHLY recommenced it. I have my instructors voiced burned into my brain from listening to the recordings over and over again. It was also nice to have them as a reference to go to if I had questions. As far as typing out the recordings... I never had time, would have been worried about spending all my time typing and not concentrating on learning the info....I know some people learn well that way though. It all boils down to how much time you have and the best way you learn. I also used flash cards for anatomy which helped me greatly. I was able to find some flashcards that you could color in, which helped a lot for the bones. I think you just have to try out different things and see what works for you, then stick with it. Everyone has a different way of learning. Good Luck!!!

Are there any hospitals that may pay off student loans of $43,000 for a new grad
I think that they have discontinued this program for the time being. It looks like this post is from 3 years ago, but you could always call them and find out. I looked on their website and it looks like they have removed the info for the adopt-a-student program. Again I would suggest calling them.

First Day on the floor by myself = Horrible
Wow, I know that starting a new job can be hard and stressful, but think about the way things will be after you have been there for awhile. Do you really want to be around these people all the time, and work for a boss that offers you no support. If I were you and it was an option I would keep working there but start looking for a different place for the long term.

Nurse Jackie UWGA RN-BSN Project
I think that people should take the show as what it is meant for, entertainment. If you want an accurate depiction of nursing watch a documentary. I have a hard time believing that people will think negatively towards nurses because of they way they are depicted by one show. Just my

So excited to begin program! (CSN Spring '10)
No, I was referring to past books like my history book and soc book. The nursing books I am sure I will keep. I just want to get all the ISBN numbers for them so I can buy them separately and save some money.

So excited to begin program! (CSN Spring '10)
And are all the books the special CSN editions that you can't find online? They love to do that at CSN, I have so many books that I can't sell back because they switched editions on me and amazon won't take them cause they are custom. I am trying to figure out if it's possible to buy them individually online, and save some money.

What was the grand total for all your books?? Do they make you buy them all at one in a package??

Did you apply with BARE PreReqs out of the way???
No, there are a couple more that you HAVE to have finished before you apply and some you must finish before you apply to graduate. But if you apply with only the ones you have to have done you will not have a competitive amount of points to even get in. But, every school is different. We have to have history, english, psych, soc, bio, A&P 1&2, Micro, and Math

Question about A&P at CSN, NSC, UNLV
Thanks! I was just curious about what they used because I was told it was only models and computer stuff and that seems like it would be really hard to learn on. Do you have any suggestions for prof. at NSC for 224 that you can share with me??

Question about A&P at CSN, NSC, UNLV
I wanted to know from anyone that has taken A&P at any of these schools if you have gotten to do any dissections or if you only use models, or do it on a computer. Just curious :)

Did you apply with BARE PreReqs out of the way???
At the school I will be applying, there are pre-reqs that Have to be completed before you apply to the program and then there are pre-reqs that must be completed by the time you graduate. Although I can apply after I finish the first pre-reqs, I am going to finsh All of them before I apply for two reasons. First, my school does a point system and the classes that are not required to be finished before you apply are worth more points, so to have max points I want to finish them first. Second, because of the chaos of the program, the last thing I want to worry about is extra classes on top of my nursing classes. So I decided to spend a little extra time to get them out of the way first.

please help me about pediatric nursing
My first thoughts went to the "internet predator" too. I think that is a huge adolescent risk behavior that most teenagers don't even think about when they engage in it.

My personal ADN vs BSN debate in Las Vegas
I am taking the pre-reqs that I can for my bsn along with my pre-reqs for CSN. But, I also had alot of the pre-reqs for CSN done already through previous majors. That way I will have less to tackle when I get to Nevada State. :-)

My personal ADN vs BSN debate in Las Vegas
I have also heard this not about NV, but about all places in general. My mother in-law is a nurse practitioner in Michigan and stresses to me all the time that I have to go on and get my BSN. Right now I plan on going to CSN then going to Nevada State to do the RN-BSN. I think employers are always going to hire someone with more education over another, unless they have more experience.
